Hi guys, this is my first day on the forum. I'm having trouble beating Wrexsoul, I know you guys are going to say "Just use X-zone and he is defeated". Every walkthrough I've looked at says the same thing "Use X-zone this battle is easy". But for some reason everytime I use X-zone it either sucks in his two minions (i forget their names) and not Wrexsoul himself or it sucks in no one. So I have tried fighting him 3 times using X-Zone at least 6 times each battle, and I haven't been successful yet. I know that in order to make him appear you have to kill the party member that he is hiding in but even then I try X-Zone and it doesn't work. Can anyone help? Did I miss something? Do I have to cast a spell before I cast X-Zone? Thanks.

I think you need to cast Vanish on Wrexsoul before you cast X-Zone.
Also, if you cast X-Zone, Wrexsoul won't give you a certain item upon defeat. I think it's the memento ring. If you want to defeat Wrexsoul normally, I think (I'm not sure, though) that you have to kill off a certain party member when he "possesses" someone (and then revive that person later). -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. The real way to beat this boss is to let him take over a party-member and, with wall-rings equipped, let his minions run out of MP. Then kill off your party members until he appears and try to do as much damage as possible. Rinse and repeat.
The only difficult thing about this battle is the fact you have to kill off your party periodically. But on the plus side, since his little minions are now useless, you can take this moment to heal up and revive everyone. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Momento ring can only be equipped by Relm or Shadow (Hint Hint) and I believe it prevents instant death spells, but I'm not entirely sure.
Add-on: can it be equipped by Stago too? It's been awhile since my last playthrough... This post has been edited by Zeromus_X on 25th February 2006 21:50 -------------------- |

Quote (Zeromus_X @ 25th February 2006 15:49) Add-on: can it be equipped by Stago too? It's been awhile since my last playthrough... No. As for X-Zone, you just use it on the SoulSavers and kill them both at once. Since Wrexsoul's not around because of Zinger, you'll win the battle as a result. Note that this isn't a bug either; the SoulSavers are written to revive themselves every time they die without fail through the FC 12 conditional command (If target is dead..., usually used for final attacks), but X-Zone and its brethren stall FC 12 counters by one turn. If the commands are stalled and one party is completely dead/incapable of continuing, the battle ends with the counters going unused. They also don't have instant death immunity, so Clear status isn't necessary. Whether Square knew about this or not, there's nothing wrong with the game's behavior (for once); the only potential bug here would be Square's oversight of X-Zone, etc.. If you beat Wrexsoul "normally," all you get is a Pod Bracelet (Memento Ring is a rare steal). Not worth it given Marvel Shoes are undeniably better, and there are other ways, at least one much easier, to go about getting a Pod Bracelet. -------------------- |

Thanks alot ZED. I thought you had to get Wrexsoul in the X-Zone haha, so when Wrexsoul is in one of my characters, all I do is cast X-zone on the soul savers and I win? That seems easy enough.
EDIT: I don't want the Memento ring anyways, I dont have shadow (he died) and I don't use Relm much, well I don't even have her back yet actually. This post has been edited by The Bum Rush on 25th February 2006 23:00 |

The third Memento Ring is *entirely* pointless anyway. You get one in Strago's house, and Relm brings one to the party; since two Memento Rings have no additional effect, only two characters can equip the Memento Ring and Relics are not affected by Merit Award, there's nothing that you can do with a third one.

It seems kinda retarded to put a third useless Momento Ring in the game. I guess they just make mistakes like that and what-not.
As for X-Zone, I always used it, I thought that if you used "Vanish-Doom", not "Vanish X-Zone" that you missed the Alexander Magicite. (Although now I don't know why I thought that, since you physically pick up the Magicite, not win it after battle. Meh.) I never knew you could do it without Vanish, that's good to know. -------------------- |

I try to not use vanish/doom. I beat him the old fashined way of knocking out one of your characters and then kicking the wrexsoul's butt. It was annoying at first, but that difficult.

Quote (Barrylocke @ 28th February 2006 10:01) I try to not use vanish/doom. Not that it would work anyway. Doom doesn't have the same effect X-Zone, etc. have, and Wrexsoul himself is immune to Clear. I know what you meant, but you really should've left it at X-Zone. -------------------- |
