Has anyone else noticed that sometimes when you use the sketch ability with Relm, the game glitches and sometimes locks up. I've noticed that if it doesn't lock up and you can get out of battle, you end up with several hundred Dirks, something like 43 Economizers, and I think 100 Gem Boxes (It's all in one slot so it just says "0"). That's some crazy stuff and even though it's kinda neat to have Gem Boxes and Economizers for everyone, I'd rather avoid it if I can. Does anyone know why it does this?
I used to think that it was only on the US cartridge but it just happened to me on the ROM a few minutes ago and I don't know why it happens at all. -------------------- "Knowledge is power. Power corrupts. Study hard; be evil." |

The Sketch Glitch is probably the most infamous glitch of Final Fantasy VI, and has been known for a long time. Results seem to range from wiping of entire saved games to tons of Illuminas and Atma Weapons.
Master ZED cracked the code to the glitch in this topic here, in case you're interested. I'm not a ROM hacker myself, nor did I like using Relm in battle, so I don't have much experience with it personally. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Or you can flip through the Sketch bug guide instead. The thread is a nice bit of nostalgia, though, and a nice example of what happens when I get excited.

Well, shucks. I did a quick glance around and didn't see anything at first. Now that it's been explained to me in such detail, I must apologize for wasting everyone's time. But your explanation does tell me why it happens more often at the end of the game than at the beginning mainly because I don't ever use Relm until I have to have multiple parties at the end of the game.
Thank you for your help on this and I will definitely keep this in mind. -------------------- "Knowledge is power. Power corrupts. Study hard; be evil." |
