Simply put, how do you prononce your FFV names? It all started with a converstion with my friend about Butz (FFVj) I always prononced Butz as "but" with an awkard z sound at the end. But a friend of mine said that he prononces it with an "oo" sound, like boot with a z or s. So what about you. Here is a list of all my pronouncings.

Butz:See above
Bartz:Like Barf with a tz instead of an f (much easier for me to say)
Galuf:Short a short u
Leena:Long e sound
Faris: Like Paris, but with a short i

To me, FFV had the more easier names. Don't even get me started on Sabin...ugh.

FFVI names were much eaiser for me. I must admit that I almost fell out of my chair in laughter trying to say a dramtic touching moment with Butts poping in the dialouge all the time

Actually, it's BAHtz or "BOOts". One of those is correct, although I guess you could pronounce it either way.

R-colored vowels aren't generally written with any mora involving an R in Japanese. The standard way to indicate them is to lengthen the vowel part. So "Bart" becomes "ba-a-to" instead of "ba-ru-to." I haven't seen the kana for this guy's name, but I'd guess that it's "ba-a-tsu" if it was transliterated as "Bartz" at some point in time. The vowel sound from that a and the vowel sound we put in the word "butt" are different, but not by much, and not in Japanese. The a sound is probably the intended one, but I still say "Butts." As far as I'm concerned, that name fits the character the best.
