At the end of Disc 2, Cait Sith Mentions that Bugenhagen did indeed work for shinra actually, and Vincent mentions that all of the equipment he has was a gift from Proffesor Gast. If this is true, then to what extent did Bugenhagen actually work for Shinra, and did I miss anything?

All I recall is Cait Sith (Cat Shi-) saying that Bugenhagen was in Shin-Ra, but that is it. Intersting question...

He (Vincent) says something along the lines of "science and nature lived side by side in that man's heart." But I don't think anything more is made of Bugenhagen's past than that, much less than his previous employers.

well everything in the town was pretty basic.. hardly advanced at all. I think you'll find it was just an explanantion as to why bugenhagen had such advanced technology to hand. Otherwise you might think it doesn't make sense.

Bugenhagen's abode is full of machines and technical periphernalia, so I also took it that was just an explanation for how he acquired the items. And by saying "nature and science lived side by side in that man's heart", I took it that he valued both equally and probably wouldn't participate in actions that would compromise that belief (i.e. SOLDIER injections)

Yeah, ol Bugen worked for Shinra as a scientist, was pals with Prof. Gast, and upon leaving Shinra on decent terms, Gast gave him the machines as a gift.

really? i really enjoyed cosmo canyon. The bits that annoy me are getting cloud to dress up as a girl and talking to Aeris' mum for ages....
