Umaro?

Hey, all.  I'm new here, but I've been a huge FF fan for awhile.  Anyway, I'm just re-playing through FF6, and I have a question about Umaro and his equipment.  While I know you can't manually equip him with items, is he supposed to auto-equip the items that are only equippable by him (Bone Club and Snow Muffler)?  Or does he already have those two items equipped when you get him in WoR?  The only reason I ask is, that right after I got him, I hit up the Colosseum to get him a Bone Club and a Snow Muffler, but he didn't auto-equip them, despite the fact that they were free and sitting in my inventory.

Essentially, I want to know whether or not he already has these two items equipped when you first meet him (it looked like he was using a club in the Colosseum, and his defense was extremely high, around 217, which seems indicative of the presence of the Snow Muffler).  If so, I'm guessing you can't unequip them (correct me if I'm wrong), since I climbed aboard the Falcon and used the "unequip all party members" option, and didn't see any extra Snow Mufflers or Bone Clubs in my inventory.  And if Umaro doesn't have the Snow Muffler and Bone Club equipped when you first get him, what do you have to do to get him to auto-equip those two items?  Thanks in advance for your time and patience!

Umaro already has the Bone Club equipped when you get him, and he can never take it off. Not even if you use the "Uneqip all members" option in the Falcon. Therefore, there's no use in trying to get him a new Bone Club in the Colosseum.

As for the Snow Muffler, I don't know if Umaro can wear it. I think it is an item for Mog (which gives him HUGE defense >_> ), but I'm not sure. If Umaro can wear it, he definitely has it from the beginning when you get him, and you can't unequip it.

HINT: Choose Equip from the menu, and press "left". The pointer will start flashing over all characters. Now press "A", and you will see a quick list over all equipment your current characters wear. This way you can see what Umaro has, even though you can't open his equip-screen. :)

One more Umaro question, and I figure I'll just post it here rather than make a new thread: I read somewhere that giving him a Green Cherry during battle will make him stronger, like the situation that occurs in his original fight against you, before you get him in your party.  Is this true?  Will giving Umaro a Green Cherry during battle actually make him stronger?

No.

But if you want what the Green Cherry did to the enemy Umaro, slap on some Marvel Shoes.  Same thing.

Or go the long way around and cast all the great spells on him in a battle!

I mostly cast Berserk on him when he is in my party sometimes.
It boosts his attack power even higher.

Or you could do both for twice the power.
