We was never at war, so far as I know!
And if we were, obviously this makes up for it. Details on how it was made plox. -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. Recording commenced at 10 am on 8-18-2013.
Final master completed at 1 pm. This is all physical instruments, and me playing them. There was very little editing done to the cut, and no sequencing. It was recorded on a Tascam DP-01 FX, by playing along with a live audio capture of the game's music. This piece means everything to me. -------------------- X is blue. |

Oh analog. This is like if Mount Eerie were to do the Terra track. Excellent, sir.

Interesting take on the snowfields version of Terra's theme. Has a bit of an old western movie feel to it. intriguing ending, too.

That was really impressive, man. Usually these one-man-band recordings fall apart a little, but that was really tight. Would love to hear a high Q version.

Quote (Sherick @ 19th August 2013 13:52) That was really impressive, man. Usually these one-man-band recordings fall apart a little, but that was really tight. Would love to hear a high Q version. Death On The Snowfield (Redux) Ask, and ye shall receive. Remixed the main track to bring out the primary theme more, did some stereo fakery, added some delay/reverb, and I did actually add reinforcement tracks sequenced in my DAW for the drums and bass. Weird trivia, but YouTube (and most streaming services) have what used to be referred to as a "broadcast standard" level for volume, measured in LUFS (Loudness Units Full Scale). If anything goes over -14 LUFS, these services will compress it down to -14 LUFS. I do not know how I did this, but the original version I recorded back in 2013 met this standard, it was just muddy and kind of badly mixed. I knew very little about recording back in 2013, I'd sort of just gotten started. This version also comes in at around -14.3 LUFS. And one other thing; at the end you can hear a little "click" and the echo out of the guitar starts warbling like it's a SNES Sound Processor's "modulated reverb..." It bears a striking resemblance to how the last note of the original game's audio fades out. However, this was a complete accident that I will never forget. As I struck the last chord, I instinctively held perfectly still in the swivel chair I was sitting in...and the chair started to rotate, until the cord my guitar was plugged into rested against the fan I had pointed at me (it was hot in that basement), producing this modulation effect on the fadeout. I could not have done that again for a million dollars. It's one of those moments in my life that makes me question whether we have the whole picture of reality. ![]() ![]() -------------------- X is blue. |
