Why is jecht so mean?

It's impossible to narrow his poor treatment of Tidus down to one origin. Maybe he hates whiners. Maybe his dad was mean to him so the cycle continues. Maybe Jecht just wishes he had a daughter instead. However, this little tidbit from the FF Wiki should help:

It's one of those tough love situations I guess. I always thought of Jecht being tough on Tidus cause he wanted him to grow up strong. But I'm just basing this of course on Dissidia gamewise.

My dad is an asshole too,and it doesn't make a person strong,it just makes them angry at you and hate you and resent you for putting them down.

Well its in everyones viewpoint. Lets not forget things are a little backwards at times in the Final Fantasy world. Spoony programmers...Ahem. But maybe Jecht is a germ freak and didn't want to be hugged by Tidus cause he'd get germys
