I was trying to make a melee-based character and I realized support materia paired up with double cut materia doesn't do anything, although I only tested with MP drain and added cut.

Could it be that double cut materia doesn't pair up with anything?

The only kind of combinations I can seem to find involve the Master Command materia.

An example is pairing the Master Command with an Added Cut and having Double Cut equipped in another slot. Whenever you use Double Cut/4x Cut, the Added Cut will add an extra attack.

Otherwise, I don't think Double Cut can directly link with anything.

that really works? how would it work? I haven't tried what you said (i don't have master command) , but master command seems like it has nothing to do with double cut materia.

and what you are suggesting is...
mater command---added cut
and
double cut---added cut?

Apparently it's actually a glitch (read more here but basically the Added Cut will kick in everytime you use the attack command. Since, in this case, the attack command will be 2x/4x Cut, you will attack 2/4 times then Added Cut will kick in and attack one more time.

You only need the Added Cut attached to the Master Command materia. The Double Cut is fine by itself.

double cut-slash all pairs up for somereason... what it does is randomly attacks 4 times at any enemy

I haven't tried anything with the "Master Command" materia, but for the "double cut", I have tried all the support materias I can find and not one has worked, including the added cut which I saw previously mentioned. Another thing to take note of is the "mega all" materia that is also in the crater. This independent (purple) materia doesn't have to be paired with something. It allows all your magic to be effected by "all" (those that can be used with "all"), as well as some commands (morph, maipulate, sense, steal, deathblow). "mega all" also gives you "slash all" for your normal attack, but if you have "double cut" equiped, you lose "double cut" and you can only use "slash all" in battle.
