OK i have my Black chocobo who is an S class champ racer and my wonderfull chocobo who is also s-class, mating them with the zieo nut but all i get is either a normal chocobo or a another black one! its driving me nuts i have tried about 30 times!!

anyone else have the problem??

Sometimes it happens. One option is to breed the new black one with the wonderful one from the previous match (assuming the sexes are appropriate). I've done stuff like that to try to shake up the RNG, not that it necessarily does anything, but a lot of times it works.

well i've never tried mating a black with a Great chocobo. that trick is along the lines of how i guarantee myself to get the opposite of the Green/blue i already have

In your case Hendrix (I've been there before) I've switched the order that i choose them, sometime I'll go do 5 battles somehwere and come back and get it. Or do 3 laps around the world. Getting a gold chocobo just has a low success rate. And make sure you're not passing up on your golds (golds feather and beak color are the same). That's the easiest way to distinguish a gold from a yellow.

Don't you use a Carob nut to breed the golden chocobo? If I recall correctly I think you do.

No, it's a Zeio nut, it even says on this very site.

Cloud_Strife's idea sounds interesting though, something to consider.

When picking the chocobos to mate, talk to the black one first.

It's all about the luck. Try and destroy the S Rank, you know, win about 10 races in a row. After a while Esther tells you that there's no competition for you in the S rank, and that there are no other ranks. You'll get a couple of rewards too.

^ i've found the sex of the parents matters some times too. For example when i breed a good and great chocobo togeather to try and get the green one or blue one often what happens is i'll get one or the other. Then what i do is look for parents of the same types just different sexes and usally i get the desired chocobo. Also i thought it had to be a black chocobo and a Wonderful chocobo.

I hope this isn't TOO off topic...but for the prize package you get for winning a total of 10 S class races, is that only once? Only for the first time you win 10?

I was never successful with any nut but this one... I see alot of sites that claim that the Zeio nut is what to use, but the Carob nut is the only one that has ever gotten me a Gold Chocobo before.

It's based on chance but. You can only get a golden chocobo using a black+wonderful chocobo and a zeio nut , ignore other statements it is good to have them S rank too. My advice to you would be... get another wonderful chocobo just to make sure it actually is a wonderful chocobo, they are found on the icy areas near the northern cave and the small town in the mountains. Also save it just before you are going to mate them and keep reloading if you don't get a golden chocobo it's based on chance.
