Having become disillusioned with his commander's goals, though, Gustav takes on a side job to kidnap Elmdor and both finance his further goals and ruin Wiegraf's reputation. However, he botches the kidnapping and in so doing forces a response in the form of Ramza's group tracking him and rescuing Elmdor. With all of his plans foiled, he finds himself cornered by his former commander.
