That Gladiator class looks kick-ass. I wonder what the abilities are? Something like "crowd pleaser" or "theatric acrobatics" sounds appropriate.

The Cannoneer looks suspiciously like a pirate. Pirates and Ninjas DCCs, anyone?
Anyhow, those two both look intriguing. My suspicions are that the Gladiator uses a variety of physical attacks (PLEASE give me some multi-hitters) and the Cannoneer uses guns and maybe some engineer-ish skills. I'm also very interested in how we're getting these two classes. Are they gonna be bundled up with the Earth Crystal? A new dungeon in World 3? My guess is the latter, but we'll see. -------------------- |

Yea, I'm assuming it'll be a new dungeon or something along those lines. Something for my crew of 4 Berserkers to destroy before I got the new classes.
Gladiator is probably like a faster Knight. Same kind of gear, but I can see him being more like Samurai. Just a guess. -------------------- Is PJ |

They both look amazing. At first I was thinking that the gladiator would be like the one in tactics advance, but that seems too... generic. It dosn't seem to have enough meat to hold an entire class to itself. Perhaps it'll have a deathblow-type attack, with high damage but low accuracy. The cannoneer looks mo sweet, and hopefully explosives will be involved
![]() Edit In the screenshot, the cannoneer looks like it has, well, a cannon. I guess explosives will be involved ![]() This post has been edited by You Spoony Bard! on 10th August 2006 17:56 -------------------- Can you pull down the dawn? Quote That's sick. The Cannoneer is going to be amazing. SSCC, anybody? i'll be all over it. Cannoneer looks like fun. Like a hunter, but with Explosives.Wearing Pirate clothing. Maybe the ability involves tools as for Gladiator, wlel we know he won't be permanetly Zerked. Mayber they have an ability that raises a stat I can't make a real logical guess on this one. Edit Yeah that is a cannon, and that's definately Krile holding it. Faris doesn't have a hat on. And in Butz gladiator screen he's all the way in the back so maybe it's technique is swordtech except hopefull it'll operate on a blitz system and not that stupis charge system. Found this on the gamefaqs message board:
Quote this is translated from gamekult Square Enix brought some precise details about the new jobs added to remake GBA of Final Fantasy V, of the new classes which one could already discover in this first illustration. The job of left, Kentôshi, or Gladiator, designates the last characters Master in the art of the sword. The first capacity to be obtained via Ability Points (ABP), Zengiri, will allow blow to strike all the enemies in once, while the second, Kôretsugiri, will see the character carrying out equivalent damage even while being placed in withdrawal. The second class, known as Hôgekishi, or gunner/bomb disposal expert, will offer French canon in own way of principal weapon. Not astonishing since the two capacities, Gôsei and Hôgeki, make it possible to bombard the enemy by consuming ammunition, ammunition which could be mixed with other objects to produce devastators effects. One is unaware of for the moment if these classes will be quickly available or if it will be necessary to push the search of the crystals to discover them in hidden no-claims bonus. A thing is sure, once controlled, it will be possible to preserve the capacities to combine them with other classes, in order to personalize its various heroes. The exit of Final Fantasy V Advance is envisaged in Japan on October 12, and the United States on November 6. Gives a bit more information about the classes.. interesting. Definitely sounds like the cannoneer class will be pretty exciting. I'm not sure how I feel about the gladiator class yet. -------------------- Oh sure, I don't have to get kicked in the junk to activate it, but I like it anyway. -- Thief commenting on the difference between Throw and Blue Magic. |

Quote bomb disposal expert The more I learn about the cannoneer the more I love it. Sounds lkie some mass artillery version of the chemist. I like it, I love it, I want some more of it. Edit It'll be interesting trying to do an SSCC, since these classes come late in the game. I'll buy it anyway, so when I get the rom it'll be legal. It looks to me they were scrambling to add something on, selected Pirate, and realised that they'd just have another class idenical to ones they already had. So they figured, let's give them a PIECE OF FREAKIN' ARTILLERY. Laaame. Couldn't they have kept it down to a more rational scale? A flintlock and a cutlass? No. They wanted a goddamn cannon. It might be a well balanced class with decent power, but it's just bleedin' silly.
They had better at least give them a minigun if they want to get stupider. I'm all for firearms but that's just silly. And gladiator... well, that might not so silly. May actually be quite good. But a bloody cannon! Gladiator:
That Back Row-ignoring attack is interesting on paper, but it'll probably kinda stink in the actual game; all you really win there is defense, a thing Heavy Armor Jobs (what the Gladiator probably will be) have no problem with anyway. I'm more interested in that MT physical attack; if it's going to be like !Kick only with weapons, I wonder how they'll treat random spellcasting and the like ![]() Canonneer: Bleh. Cool on the aesthetics, but I wonder what the real effect will be. You spend ammo which you use to damage. Kinda like Throw, only (probably) with more ammo and (probably) less effect, with fringe benefits. It'd be awesome if they give it some special properties, since unblockable physicals or truly barrier-piercing attacks are rare in this game. Then again, Square was painfully unoriginal with ammo in FF VIII, so I'm not getting my hopes up. -------------------- |

The trouble with the paladin class is that their abilities seem to exist within al lthe other classes - want healing? White mage. Sword wielding? Knight.
I'd like to see the robot or monster classes from Final Fantasy Legends II. The robot class eats up weapons, but kicks butt with them, the monster class eats meat dropped by enemies to change form. I think they're both rockin'! Anyhow, I suppose this isn't an ideas thread. I'm not terribly excited about the gladiator class - perhaps I don't understand how their attacks are going to be different from the ones already present like !Kick and !Aim.The cannoneer class should be interesting though. I think it will be the sorcerer/m. knight version of !Throw. I'm definitely going to be shooting electric balls o' doom at Omega! I'm hoping that they add some fun, unique monsters to the dungeons. Something that'll really knock our socks off, but hopefully avoiding too many rehashes from other games like Plague and Ultros. -------------------- Oh sure, I don't have to get kicked in the junk to activate it, but I like it anyway. -- Thief commenting on the difference between Throw and Blue Magic. |

Gladiator seems like its just going to be a Knight or Samurai, so it depends on what the abilities are going to be that will make this job good or bad.
Cannoneer appears visually stimulating, and will probably by close to thief-equipment, so again we have to look towards abilities to determine if these classes are worth even getting. And I suppose we'll probably get the classes in some secret dungeon before the end of the game (like the bonus dungeon in FF4A where you get Yang, Edward and the twin's items) and then I'm hoping there will be another dungeon like the Trials for FF4A. -------------------- "A little tight, but the price was right" - Locke "Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm "..." - Shadow "I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes "Although Edgar showers his attention on the ladies, most are smart enough to pay him no attention. ![]() There should be a vampire class though ![]() I'm guessing Necromancer will have Instant Death attacks and some style of summoning the dead. Possible spoilers: highlight to view the "Sealed Ruins" that are supposed to open up at the end of the game. Mostly, where it will be located, what it will contain exactly, and whether you get the new jobs IN the dungeon or for beating the dungeon This game is probably going to convince me to purchase a DS in the near future.
