I prefer Tekken.
Soul calibur seems to have a tad too many people who can win with button bashing for my liking. -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |

Only if you don't know how to handle n00bs, fatman. SCIII is pretty much at the top of my list of games I'm looking forward to this holiday season, and it is very likely that I will be playing a lot of it next winter/spring to get my fighting game fix.

I think a more appropriate question would be "Who here ISN'T going to get Soul Caliber III," because come on, SC is frickin' AWESOME.
In other words, yes I'm getting it. -------------------- The island bathes in the sun's bright rays Distant hills wear a shroud of grey A lonely breeze whispers in the trees Sole witness to history ICO-You were there- |

I've always had a slight interest in Soul Calibur. I've never played it and I've wanted to find out if it was any good, or if its just a button masher like Dead Or Alive.
I've looked at it some and the custom character creation in SC3 seems pretty impressive. I think I'm going to get the game because of my curiosity and the custom character feature. I'm not expecting it to be as good as Guilty Gear, but if the fighting aspect of it doesn't turn out to be very good at least I'll be able to make a hot chick and play dress up. -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

I won't be getting it, Spiffyness. Hell, I didn't even know the series was past 2 already. Call me backward, but I'm still into Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike and that's about it as far as fighting games go. I actually used to love playing fighting games back in the day, but I guess me taste in video games changed when I started playing RPGs and stradegy games. I still like classic compared to new-school. :3 Street Fighter [any of them], Dark Stalkers [any of them] and the Marvel VS. I'll probably get it, though most likely not for a while after it's released. There're a few other games I've had my eye on that're higher up on my want list.
Not putting down the Soul Calibur games or anything; besides Tekken, SC's my favorite new-school fighting series. I really don't like fighting games much at all, except for Soul Calibur and Street Fighter. Anything else... nah.

For the record, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike is the best fighting game ever made by anyone.
That being said, Soul Calibur 3 looks interesting. I didn't like Soul Calibur 2, but Soul Calibur remains one of my favorite 3D fighters. Hopefully in SC3 they'll fix the mistakes they made (no Hwang, abuseable stepping) while keeping the improvements (streamlined controls). The new character designs seem interesting, as well, though I imagine they'll either be totally weak or ridiculously overpowered in true Namco form. As an addendum, here's hoping for a nerfed Cervy. Everybody is getting excited about the character creation, but I can't really see how they can implement it effectively. Either the character maker will only produce substandard fare, so as to maintain game balance, or else someone with a lot of time on his hands will develop the perfect combination of moves and stats to dominate all of the regular roster. Neither is a very appealing possibility, and there isn't much middle ground. Personally, I'd prefer it if they keep the character making as a side gimmick, and leave the competitive play in the hands of the original fighters. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L.
