Topic. Let's avoid Square-Enix, since they need no help from anyone when it comes to cranking out unecessary sequels. A few games I wish there were another of:
Skies of Arcadia It's really a shame that this game didn't sell spectacularly well, but its world and style were so great that a sequel would be wonderful. Plus, come on, who doesn't love pirates? Legend of Dragoon The only really strong point of this game was its storyline, despite the power rangers-esque dragoons, so a good sequel set in the same universe, void of tedious timed hits and a deplorable magic system, could very easily be done. Ninja Gaiden I am fairly positive that there will be a sequel to this one, but I can't wait. In my opinion Gaiden was the best game of 2004. -------------------- |

I'd love to see sequels to Jet Force Gemini and Pirates! Gold. For anyone who's played either or both games, well, how could you not want more?

Ninja Gaiden has had 2 sequels in the past, 3 if you count the XBox one.
I would love to see a sequel to Lagoon. Many people considered it pretty bad but I loved it like no other game. The music was awesome, the graphics had a certain oldschool look and feel (even back then), and the story rocked (at the time; it'd be stupid to judge it by today's standards when the game is, oh, 15 years old? Originality is a poor man's excuse for trying to make the competition look bad.) -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Legend of Dragoon indeed. That game was tough the first time I played it! I loved the way you fight in battle the most, and as mentioned the storyline was good. A sequel on the PS2 would surely make for one great game.

One sequel I think Square-Enix SHOULD do is Final Fantasy Tactics 2
And to name one more (that actually is getting done) Shining Force = Happiness |

Quote (Kane @ 1st February 2005 18:09) And to name one more (that actually is getting done) Shining Force Seconded. The series is pretty big in Japan, god I envy them. If only I could get my hands on some of the rarities that came out here. I also wish there was another Tomba game coming out, Tomba was definitely a diamond in the rough. Or maybe they could do a sequel to Sweet Home, I would so buy that. -------------------- This one time I punched a bear in the forehead TO DEATH! I still have the scars on my chest. I'm just saying that the Xbox version of Ninja Gaiden is awesome to the extreme and another game like it would rock all over the place. Oh, and I hated Lagoon. A lot. -------------------- |

Hmm... if anything, a direct and well executed sequel to Crash Team Racing. That was better than MarioKart.
Or, p'raps, a sequel to Bishi Bashi Special. That was a brilliant party game. Many an hour was whiled away watching Ninjas throw noodles at eachother, and strange creatures blow up balloons. |

Mario RPG, left a good amount of room for a sequal, I'd like to see that.

Quote Mario RPG, left a good amount of room for a sequal, I'd like to see that. I agree! I enjoyed being Bowser for once. Another game I would like a sequal to would be StarCraft, Brood War was the expansion. Possible spoilers: highlight to view If you've played the Starcraft expansion set, and done one of the last missions (I think it was a Zerg Mission) You get a special mission using the Protoss. During the end of the mission you find Duran has created a hybrid of Terran and Zerg. (At least... I think thats what happens, it's been a long time) So maybe a sequal could contain something about that? Wow.... Nearly the whole post was a spoiler O.o This post has been edited by Strife543 on 4th February 2005 22:32 -------------------- Link: "What is it?" Mario: "It's coin, what the hell does it look like?" Definitely Starcraft 2 and also SMRPG 2. I would also like to see a sequel done for American McGee's Alice.

Earthbound, which was itself a sequel, deserves a new entry in the series. Sadly, Mother 3 - developed for the now-defunct Nintendo 64 DD - died sometime in development. Earthbound's unique, quirky style and flavor remains one of my absolute favorites, and it definitely deserves another go. Hopefully we'll see one on a Nintendo console sometime in the forseeable future.

Our good friends at Natsume have made a good deal of Harvest Moon sequels on multiple platforms, and almost all of them are good. My personal favorite is Harvest Moon 64, and the most recent rendition is Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, which came out for Gamecube a little while ago. Try to stay away from HM: Save the Homeland for PS2, which is generally considered the weakest of the series.
I love the Harvest Moon series, and I think the existence of a decent-sized and dedicated fanbase is the main reason why developers keep making them. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. It sorta sucks how FFTA wasn't a sequel, but it's cool anyways.
I forgot to post this last time, but, is the Perfect Dark sequel coming anytime soon? -------------------- Yunalesca: "Hope is...comforting. It allows us to accept fate, however tragic it might be. Paper Mario is like a SMRPG sequel, how it's played out and everything. One sequel I'd like to see is Super Ghouls and Ghosts, and NO I don't mean Maximo, it's in the style but not the same characters or plotline.

I would love to see a Robotrek sequel....I loved that game so much when I was younger. I would play for hours upon hours upon hours, despite the simple storyline and gameplay. I think I had two 100% files. And I just started it over again just recently, too. A sequel to that game would make my day.

It's been publicly stated by its makers that Chrono Cross exists outside of the "true" Chrono Trigger continuity anyways. It's more of an alternate universe story, which makes sense considering the entire plot is about alternate universes and their possibilities.
Not sure what's going down with the proposed Chrono Break thing, though. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. Chrono Cross is a perfect game in terms of storyline, graphics, music, SFX, characters and replay value. That's what people search for in a game. Most good RPGs leave you with questions unanswered.

Most good RPGs leave you with questions unanswered. Ummm... right.... First of all, Chrono Cross WAS a sequel to Chrono Trigger, there is no denying that. The scene in Chronopolis is the start of where the connections take place, and the plot comes together decently enough in the game's second half. Second of all, this is another one of those games that I love and hate at the same time (M.Kato does that to me with every single one of his games besides the original CT... Xenogears, Xenosaga, Baiten Katos, all of 'em... weird huh?). It's storyline was kind of weak at the beginning but finishes fairly well, the music is among Mitsuda's best work (Uematsu has nothing on my man Yano), and the cast of characters are a mixed bag of good (the major characters and most of the Dario/Karsh/Glenn storyline) and pointless (Starky, Greco, Funguy, the list goes on...). The battle system is decent, the customization system isn't the greatest, but tolerable, and character recruitment had all of the strengths and weaknesses of Suikoden's 108 Stars system. Overall, some people really loved it (Gamespot, IGN, my roommate Alex), but some people really didn't (MANY diehard CT fans basically looking for virtually the same game from six years earlier). Me, I'm somewhere in between, but I still would love to see a new game in the Chrono lineup to come along. This post has been edited by laszlow on 7th March 2005 18:37 -------------------- |

If we haven't gotten one now, several years after earthbound for snes, I have my doubts that we'll get one in the future. However, I guess I can still remain with my fingers crossed because I would absolutely love a sequel. -------------------- Elena Indurain Currently Playing: Suikoden II |
