People who have been here a while might remember me preaching in support of Audioscrobbler, the plugin and affiliated website that tracks the music you listen to and allows you to view your stats and compare them to other users. They seem to have finally buttoned down most of their server issues, it's been working fine for me for at least three months now aside from routine maintenance.
If you like stats like I do, you might enjoy this small plugin. It's available for the following music players: AmiScrobbler (MorphOS) J. River Media Center QCD SlimScrobbler Winamp Windows Media Player 9 XMMS beepmp foobar2000 iTunes (Mac) iTunes (Windows) All you have to do is sign up at AS, download the plugin, and install, and your stats will be sent to the server. It's as private as it can be; they don't collect your IP, and they don't have any clue if the song played is from an MP3, CD, or any other method. The only connection between you and your music is your username. It's fun, and it's a good way for you to answer the question "what bands do you like?" Because the bands you listen to most are right there in the link to your user page - and CoN has been a supporter since the beginning. Yeah, Audioscrobbler's site is now Last.FM, for those of you who haven't been in a while.
The plugins are the same though, I'm not sure if you have to reregister, but I don't think I had to when the change was made. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |
