I been thinking and I was trying to find out what a moogle really is but I haven't thought of anything it could be.

I thought that it was a mole-bat. Or something to that extent. I forget what they called it.

I think a moogle is something different altogether. It's a small, white furred creature that walks upright on two legs, has a large, round nose, big black eyes, cat like eats, and a yellow or red pompom thing on the top of it's head. Plus they have small pink wings in their back. It's really pieces of different animals...cat ears, koala nose, bat wings, etc.

Thanks for the info, but now it pulls up more questions. How did the creators come up with a moogle?

I always thought they were flying pigs ^^;;; I don't think anyone other then myself thinks they are pigs though >>
I heard the chocobo came from some kind of mythology, so maybe it's the same for moogles. |

Really, when you think about it, the moogle isn't that innovative. Take a teddy bear. What do you add to it to make it look different? Of course, wings and an antennae. Standard alien fare. Then spice up the antennae with a little ball, a few touches to the nose and ears, and you have a moogle.

Moogles are Moogles. Period. They aren't a mix of anything, they aren't a variation of something, they're just Moogles. Asking what they are is like asking if a Bird is a kind of Rhino!

While playing FFT, I noticed that the closest they come to moogles in that game is a creature called an uribos, which did look pretty much like a big with wings. I, personally, have always considered them rodents. -------------------- *END TRANSMISSION* |

I think its like when you start to doodle with nothing more on your mind but "create something new for Final Fantasy." I bet they cycled through a lot of ideas before the Moogle.

Hmm...
I always heard of a Moogle (Moglie for you purists) as a cross between a fat siamese cat and a bat. I read that somewhere... |

Well, it's clear that moogles are an imaginary species, so the only real question would be as to what taxonomical group they belong to...I say either rodent, or feline.

Seeing as how many fantasy stories take place something like one thousand years after a massive catastophy that wipes out most of civilization, I'd have to say that Moogles are Koalas that have been exposed to radiation over hundreds of years.

I think a moogle is a pig mixed with a bird since they both are nice creatures that spirits cannot be tammed.

Little history for ya: Moogles first appeared in FF3j, ascompanions and servants to Dorga - Keeper of the Power of Magic. Back then they were still able to talk (all of them!) and didn't have pompon's (those came up in FF6). The question: "What is a moogle?" I answer: "A Moogle(Mooglis Mooglis) is a cute, white, furry magical creature. Mess with moogles, and ya mess with me!"
