First, that I'm wondering about the Gamma monster with the talked-about Gamma sword reported about - http://www.angelfire.com/ct/gibsonebol/rumors.txt since that it makes more sense than flying aimlessly around Kefka's Tower in the WoR. When that it says the Esper Cave, that I'm assuming that he means one of these three places: 1) the Cave to the Sealed Gate in the WoB, 2) the Esper's Mountain next to Thamasa in the WoB (which that I'm at this one as of right now), or 3) the Phoenix Cave in the WoR. Also, that I do believe that it's possible that this Gamma monster does exist, that considering Rubicant finding out about CzarDragon hidden in the game and Veldt code #477 with Colossus - http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/snes/file/f..._game_genie.txt and Colossus also being mentioned in the Jidoor Opera House lost secret - http://www.geocities.com/rbff3man/lostsecr.html. So, do any of the rest of you think that it's possible to find this Gamma monster and/or where would he be located, huh? Secondly, that I'll almost be to the point in the game after a little bit in which that I'll be able to play test it to find out if that DS mentioning about eventually stealing/capturing the Ragnarok Sword from the Pugs is possible, and that it being mentioned about close to the bottom - http://s.the.great.8m.com/ff3/jmedit1.html if that it's possible to do that, isn't it? >Danny<

There is no such monster as 'Gamma Monster' in the game code. Several people have already broken open the code and found every monster that is coded into the program. There were in fact monsters coded in the game called Colossus and Czar Dragon, but they were never 'placed' in the game. That is, their code exists, but you cannot actually encounter them in the game, without using a hacked rom of some sort.

There is no item in the game called 'Gamma Sword' or Gamma anything else either. Again several people have broken open the rom and listed every item coded in the game. To my knowledge, every item that was coded appears in the game without hacking.

I believe, there there are 255 item slots and 255 items in the game. *confirmed # of items with Atom Edge's Item List faq*
Note 1: if you choose the Ragnarok sword, it is extremely difficult (read nearly impossible) to get the Cursed Ring as well.
Note 2: Also, you cannot get both the Cursed Shield and the Paladin Shield in your inventory at the same time, so without hacking, you cannot get all 255 at once, but you can get really close.

As much as we all wish that those rumours were all true, they should really be put to rest. Hacking roms takes all the final fantasy magic away from the game.

And is it just me, or is that one site (http://www.geocities.com/rbff3man/lostsecr.html.) pretty funny. How many times throughout that thing does the author say "maybe", "if my memory serves me correctly", "I think", or "might have been"? Please, if you could remember all of that, I have a very good feeling you would've written everything down. I think the enemy's name started with "D"... Oh that was good for a laugh.

Yeah, the "Lost Secrets of FF3" page was pretty sad. All this strange stuff that he "sort of remembers" happening. He'd ramble on for a paragraph about how you want to get to this chest that's in an impossible spot, but he'd never actually say what was in said chest. Hmmmm... yes sir, I will run around in a circle for 2 hours, bring my characters down to 2 HP each, equip and unequip their equipment 1000 times, and I believe it will let me open that chest.....

Has something like that ever actually been a way to get a secret item in any game? You know, ridiculous tasks? I can't think of any.

There is actually one game with ridiculous request for it's secret items and it's FFX:
Dodging lightning, chocobo racing or whatever I just can't find what's the link with the Ultimate weapons...

Rumors.... lol look at this game, it's so old that every sercret in it has been discovered. A new rumor or anything else "unconfirmed' is 100% false, put that in your brain.

Methinks these rumors come about when players decide to play ff6 and trip out on acid at the same time, and they see mystical things happening in the tv screen. An enemy that hits you with a "gamma ray" suddenly becomes a "gamma monster"!

Silly Keith. Everybody knows acid hasn't been that strong since the 70's. biggrin.gif

aw come on, you mean you guys didn't know about the Terra Blade? You know, if you get to level 99 while still in the first magitek armor, and then terra turns into an amazing sword? Teaches all spells x50 and maxes out all stats? Lets you unlock the secret charater Bono the Destroyer? uhhh....washes your windows, brushes your teeth, does your homework? trust me, it's AWESOME.

note: on second thought, before i add this reply, i've decided to throw a caveat in here, lest i get busted by a moderator or something for getting people's hopes up. please don't try to get to level 99 in the first magitek sequence, there's nothing to be gained...as far as you know...mwa ha ha...

It would be interesting if Squenix released the development tools they used (much like Blizzard did with Starcraft), and let us make our own FF. I've seen RPG maker, but it doesn't have that Final Fantasy touch... it's more like Dragon Quest.
Anyway, if they did, I would make a wicked FFVI that had some of these rumors actually coming true.

Final Fantasy IIIe has been busted open, hacked to death, and gutted of every last one of its secrets. smile.gif

That being said, it's easy to do whatever you want with the game given enough determination and some experience with a hex editor. A tile editor might be necessary too, unless you're such a badass you can hex-edit yourself quality compressed art in raw hex. If so, my hat goes off to you. tongue.gif

(And yes, as a former active member of the FF3 rom hacking scene, I can testify that there is, indeed, a hidden character called Bono. The description is not accurate; he's more of a debug character that can transform every female member of your party into catgirls, though.)

Either shut up, or show us the catgirl sprites.

Edit
I said sprites.

Hey, no problem. Ripped right outta the game. Here's a rather surprised catgirl scaled 2x; starts at $DE:8F00.

Missing a lot of frames though. I never could get her to work in my team without SERIOUS graphic glitches though, and the occasional lock up.
