How have your feelings for the characters changed from the first time you played FFVI to now? Has your favorite character ever changed? For my post I will use a scale of 1-10 with 10 being "I love this character" and 1 being "I dislike this character". You can use this system if you want. I got FFVI on August 21st, 1995.
Then/Now Terra 4/5 Terra is too confused about who she is to have a real personality until the WoR where all she does is talk about love. That's not very interesting if you ask me. I think the only time you really get a hint of the colorful side of Terra is during the scene where Gau is dressing up to meet his father. She was selfish during the game even though she claims to have found what love is. I think she just loves herself. She just wanted Leo so he could teach her stuff. She just wanted to take care of the kids to feel needed. Have you ever noticed that whenever she interacts with the other main characters it's just to talk about herself? The Gau's father scene is the only exception I can think of for that too. Locke 3/4 I always thought Locke was ugly, and he's very weak. Plus I get tired of all the people that are like "OMG Locke 0wNs y00 with the mad tyte Offering + Genji Glove combo!!" ![]() Edgar 7/5 Edgar's great in battle when you first get him but his usefullness declines as you get better characters and the monsters get stronger. Edgar gets his best tools too early in the game which prevents him the ability to upgrade his best attack late in the game. Plus his stats are quite low so for me Edgar is just a so-so character. Sabin 9/10 Sabin's blitzes are extremely useful throughout the game is his evasion is pretty good too. Plus he's got a great sense of humor and his scenario is the best part of the game for me. Shadow 2/6 I used to dislike Shadow. However his stats are above average, Interceptor is nice to have around and the throw command is fun to use. So now I think he's alright even though his sprite is ugly and he has a dry personality. Cyan 9/8 I think Cyan's abilities look more impressive than they are useful. I've used Cyan a lot for years but I've come to the conclusion that ultimately Swdtech is a disruption to the flow of battle. Not only does Swdtech take a while to charge up (I know there are ways to avoid hold-ups but that gets tiring too), but the overly dramatic Quadra Slam/Slice takes a long time to sit through as well. I like to do all my damage in one quick hit and not sit there watching Cyan's big show over and over and over. Besides, Catscratch and Bum Rush do more damage than all 4 of Cyan's slices combined. Plus Cyan's stats are well below average. Swdtech is still a cool and unique ability so I still like him. Perhaps I've just used him too much. Celes 4/7 I never realized how odd yet intriguing Celes' outfit is until recently, and although she's rather weak in the WoB she does control the levels of many WoR characters. Plus she's somewhat powerful in the WoR with the Ragnarok. Celes is alright... better than Terra. Gau 10/10 Gau has always been the most intruguing character for me ever since I first saw him in the instruction manual before getting anywhere near the Veldt. How many other FF characters are just like Gau? None. We've seen kings, warriors and theives but then all of the sudden here's this wild kid. ![]() ![]() Setzer 4/6 Setzer's pretty much average. The only cool thing about Setzer for me is that he can use free magicites with 3 bars which happens quite often. That actually causes him to be useful every once in a while. 7-flush ain't that bad but it's not that good either. His stats are well below average though. Mog 8/5 Having more than one automatic character in a group is bad for many reasons. Gau already fills the single position for automatic character. Besides Mog stumbles way too much. If he did his dances 80%-100% of the time he'd be much better. Some of his dance attacks arn't very effective. Strago 3/3 Strago's stats are low, he can't equip any good weapons or armor and his Lores do below average damage throughout the game, except maybe the end... maybe. Besides, who wants to fight with an old man? He's past his prime, let's put it that way. Relm 5/8* Relm would be alright if sketch didn't glitch the game so much. It's not very effective anyway but control is. Not only does it stop an enemy from attacking but it also provides for some interesting battle situations. In my Expert Version 2 she starts out with control, no relic required. Plus you gotta love her high magic stat. Gogo 7/4 Gogo's abilities seem really cool until you look at his stats along with the fact that you can't change them. Plus he also has no personality. What fun is that? Umaro 1/2 Umaro has no personality other than wimpering when he's hurt, he can't cast magic, you only get him late in the game and he's a big ugly hairy monkey. It is nice to have him around on Kefka's tower though because of the nice physical damage he delivers. The fact that I almost never use him raises his fun factor when I do use him. *Expert Version 2 enhanced stats & ability This post has been edited by i90east on 12th March 2004 15:03 -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! Hmm... interesting topic.
Then/Now Terra: 6/9 After writing some fanfic with a lot about her, I liked her better. Locke: 8/5 Ineffectiveness in battle really got to me after a while, even though he used to be my favorite. Edgar: 7/10 He used to be pretty cool, but now he's even better. Sabin: 9/9 Always very awesome, then due to blitzes, now due to blitzes and storyline. Shadow: 9/8 I like his Throw command, and his storie's always been alright. Cyan: 3/8 I used to not like him a lot, but he kinda grew on me. Celes: 5/8 She just kept gettin' better in my book. Gau: 6/6 Always a cool and funny little kid, but the fact that you can't control him much is a downside. Setzer: 7/9 Pretty cool, but he becomes nearly useless later in the game. Mog: 9/7 Moogles used to hold more awesomness for me, but not as much any more. Strago: 3/4 Boring, albeit funny old fuddy-duddy. Relm: 2/4 Annoying brat who glitches up. I only like her better now because of her theme. Gogo: 5/5 Just meh. Umaro: 1/1 Don't use him much, and he has no story. EDIT: I edited in why I like/disliked/equaled such-and-such character, as I see others doing it, too. ![]() This post has been edited by Figaro on 11th March 2004 00:11 -------------------- Wow. 1,000 posts. I'll use your scale. Their scores are based on plot, except Gogo and Umaro, who are based on in-battle value.
Then/Now Terra 7/3 I normally lean to favor main characters, but she gets selfish and evasive, and the more I think about it, the less I like her. Locke 6/5 He was OK, but I don't like theives Edgar 3/3 People who think with their belt bug the heck out of me Sabin 7/8 There was just something appealing about him. Probably his being man enough to stand down from the throne Shadow 6/6 He was nothing special. He only gets the extra point because of "bad guy of the good guys" appeal Cyan 9/10 My favorite characters tend to be the "Men of Honor" Celes 5/5 Nothing special Gau 6/7 His story plays the heartstrings Setzer 4/4 Nothing special, but loses a point because he's a gambler Mog 6/6 Nothing special, but gets an extra point because he has minions Strago 5/6 Nothing special. Gained the extra point because of his sidequest Relm 4/5 Was a brat. but I built up a tolerance Gogo 5/3 He was just redundant Umaro 7/8 He's just plain cool -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

Terra: 7/7: nothing special but she is the main character and i liked the scene in esper village
Locke: 10/8: over time i liked him less and less due to his uneffectivness in battle Edgar: 8/9: he gets way coller in the WoR, plus hes a king ![]() Sabin: 9/9 always been one of my favorites Shadow: 10/10 always been my favorite Cyan: 9/8 i love knights, but he isn't as effective as most other characters Celes: 5/7 after the world of ruin she got cooler, but as far as battle goes i don't use her much Gau: 5/6 never liked him too much Setzer: 1/2 i always hated the "slots Character" in FF games Mog: 8/7 in the begining he is way cool, then he just kinda gets pushed into the backround Strago: 5/8 cool guy but ultimately useless Relm: 1/1 never ever liked her umaro: 5/5 very quite, not bad but not good either gogo: 5/5 usefull but bland storyline wise. -------------------- <Nealio> Seymour sounds like evil Winnie the Pooh |

Good Guys
Terra: 5/9 I didn't use her much back in '95 but now I realize she has good potential with physical and magical attacks due to metamorphosis Locke: 3/6 I used to think this guy was a complete sap, but now I like the funky things you can steal with him Edgar: 7/5 He's just a meh character Sabin: 10/10 Kicks butt in any game Shadow: 10/10 Ninjas flip out ALL THE TIME. Cyan: 10/8 Back in the day, I used to think this guy owned. He doesn't seem as cool anymore though. Celes: 7/8 A decent magic user... but Runic doesn't have much use. Gau: 2/5 Hated him the first time through, I like him a bit more now. Setzer: 6/6 Cool concept, flawed execution. Mog: 7/4 Meh, these guys never really did it for me. Strago: 6/8 Am I the only one that thinks this dude is cool? Relm: 1/1 Blech. Umaro: 6/7 The sheer damage... Gogo: 9/9 Ultima without MP cost? Yum. Loses one point for being characterless. Bad Guys Ultros: Always was, and always will be an idiot. Ghestahl: Likewise. Atma Weapon: Has always been cool. Just from the graphic and music. Kefka: It shouldn't be too hard to guess who my favorite character is. -------------------- "Nothing can beat the music of hundreds of voices screaming in unison!" - Kefka |

Setzer 10/63 and rising.
Terra 4/9 better than celes i think. good attacker and spellcaster. Locke 8/10 hes just cool. Edgar 3/3 i didnt ever care for the fruity little braid. king or not, its like wearing a "kick my ass" sign. Sabin 4/7 opted for a short mullet over his brother's girly braid. acts like a mullethead (gets angry easy, thinks hes tough) and fights like one too. Shadow 5/3 nothing ever really enchanted me about shadow. even with his extensive backstory, i always saw him as something of a 2d character. Cyan 8/6 his battle sprite looks like a biker. Celes 9/5 i use terra instead. i dont much care for blonde girls. Gau 1/7 gau's good people. just that easy. Mog 7/3 why do people use mog? Strago 1/1 blows. Relm 3/1 ditto. Gogo 8/8 gogo is neato. Umaro 9/9 anywayone who doesnt like umaro obviously worships the devil. -------------------- You watch the world exploding every single night Dancing in the sun, a newborn in the light Say goodbye to gravity and say goodbye to death Hello to eternity and live for every breath Your time will come... |

Terra: 6/7 - Eh, for some reason I just wasn't the biggest fan of Mrs. "Half Esper, Half Human, All Whiny." Locke: 8/10 - The first time I played through the game I was frustrated at his relative uselessness during the WoB... But his storyline and character are just too compelling now. Edgar: 10/9 - LOVED his tools the first time around; however, over time I started to realize that he wasn't that great in battle. That didn't matter, though, because his regal and duty-bound persona is amazingly well-portrayed. Sabin/Mash: 8/4 - The less interesting Figaro twin, in my opinion. While Blitzes were the coolest thing since sliced bread the first time through, I just didn't like his character at all. Not a fan of the meatheads. ![]() Shadow: 9/9 - AMAZING the first time I played back in the day.... still pretty damn cool. His dream sequences were always a treat, and his background was a tragic one. THROW is a fun command as well. The coolest Assassin to ever grace a Final Fantasy. Gogo: 6/7 - No storyline really... But he looks pretty nifty, I suppose. And he can cast the deadliest spells around for no MP. That will only get him 7 points, though. Gau: 1/3 - Absolutely hated the whole wild child character.... I dunno, Mowgli just doesn't get me excited. His rages were alright, but I like controlling my characters. Leo: 5/5 - Sure, he had a cool attack... But he was too goody goody for me and had an AWFUL menu portrait. I'm not a fan of ugly people. Relm: 4/6 - Not very appealing. Magic power is a plus, but her abilities are not that good. Her story is pretty dull to me as well, other than her affiliation with Shadow. Mog: 9/4 - Moogles used to be ridiculously cool, but over time I sort of got sick of them. Plus, like my complaint about Gau, I like to control my characters. Kefka: 9/10+ - The best FF villain of all time. You all know my thoughts on the arrogant, condescending, egocentric, sadistic, deceptive, and power hungry general. ![]() Umaro: 1/1 - No story, no control, no appeal. Setzer: 10/10+ - COOLEST protagonist of all time. I love his SLOT command, and his gambler's equipment weapons were the coolest to use during a battle. Fixed Dice + Dice + Genji Glove + Offering = ![]() Strago: 4/5 - Bleh old man. Cool lores, though. Blue Magic rocks, but I wish they could have applied it to a cooler character. Celes: 8/9 - Another of my favorite characters. Great story due to interaction with Locke. She just has a very high level of appeal for me. Cyan: 9/9 - AMAZING story. His loss at Doma is among one of the more touching moments in FF for me. The way it resurfaces in the WoR also struck my heart chord. Wonderfully done story and excellent abilities. -------------------- Je ne t'aime plus, Mon amour... Je ne t'aime plus, Tous les jours... |

I've only played through the game once, but I'll say what I thought of them from what I heard about them and then what I think of them now that I've completed the game. I've also included character design grades, which are related to how well the character--his/her personality, script, actions, skills, etc.--were designed.
Terra: 8/10 Terra wasn't that interesting or clear until I finally found out about her backstory. Then I realized that she was one of the characters with the best character development ever, as well as a very powerful magic-user. Plus she has a great theme music. She's definitely one of my favorite characters. Character design grade: A+. Locke: 5/8 I found him not too useful at the beginning of the game, since he wasn't a good fighter, and when he attempted Steal, he couldn't attack. He also was stuck with using items for healing. And I wondered why he was doing what he was doing--he seemed to pop out of nowhere to help Terra, and then Celes. I began to think more highly of him after learning about his backstory and realizing how much he had contributed to the plot. He's not one of my favorite characters, but definitely is a well-developed, complex, and very interesting character. Character design grade: A. Edgar: 8/7 The very responsible and dedicated side of this king of Figaro is well contrasted to his lame attempts at attracting women. His role in the plot is also pivotal, being connected to both the Empire and the Returners. His Tools command is quite unique, and also stresses a contrast between him and Cyan and their kingdoms. However, he was never one of my favorites, even though he dealt nice strong damage very early in the game, and my reason for this isn't related to his failure with women. I never felt he was that interesting of a character anyways, even with the coin flip cutscene. He did seem somewhat to be a static character. Character design grade: B-. Sabin: 7/8 He has even less development than does his twin brother Edgar, although he deals more damage with his Blitzes (which I find to be the most convenient heavy-hitting non-MP-consuming attacks). His personality is defined only by very few events (coin flip cutscene, Ultros confrontation, Sabin's scenario, airship quotes, and "light-of-judgement-ed" house in WoR), and very little backstory and reason to fight against the empire (other than because his brother is doing the same and he wants to fight for the better of the world). But what makes me like him more than Edgar is the power of his Blitzes (especially his upper-level Blitzes, like Bum Rush and Air Blade, which far overpower Edgar's Flash, Drill, and Chainsaw) and his high amount of HP. Character design grade: C. Shadow: 10/7 My original impression of him was that he had to be one of the coolest and most interesting characters ever. Now I personally don't use Throw that much, so he basically became just another good physical fighter. And unfortunately he doesn't join your party often enough for him to be able to learn good magic until the WoR. But nevertheless his character development is one of the most interesting I've found so far, and is highly unique. And he has a great theme music. Character design grade: A+. Cyan: 10/9 I greatly sympathize with this character, albeit virtual and imaginary. What he had to go through was just staggering to imagine, and how he was able to keep his dignity, honor, and moral sense makes me admire him. His excellent portrayal made his experiences, although extraordinarily traumatic, vividly believable. The only thing I don't admire about him is how long his Swdtechs take to "charge up", but some of the lower-order SwdTechs are still very powerful. Cyan's character theme is an additional Character design grade: A+. Gau: 5/10 A rather interesting character, with an very intrinsically happy "sidequest" that, although revealing no uber-powerful items or equipment, is definitely something I enjoyed. His past, although simple, makes complete sense (somehow), and his character personality shines through pretty clearly. I like his enthusiastic attitude, as well as his occasional stupid mistakes that make him seem so innocent (he really is, isn't he?). The only problem is that he seems sometimes to be a disconnected character thrown in for no real reason. But that also happens in real life, doesn't it? Gau is also a powerful character. Rage, albeit uncontrollable, is actually quite useful, when you select the correct Rages (a listing of very useful Rages is in the FFVI FAQ topic in this forum), since they enable Gau to use--for FREE!--some of the most powerful magic and lores (even ones that Strago can't learn, such as Flare Star and Meteo), including Magnitude8--the only reusable non-self-damaging earth-elemental attack that anyone in your party can do (Terrato doesn't count because you can only summon an esper once in any battle.) Gau's variety of lores means that he can also help Strago acquire some of them--without having to go to the lair of the monster/the Veldt in order to Sketch/Control it. Rage was a very unique and risky novelty, but it worked out brilliantly; it also helps to get stuff done while Cyan is charging his Swdtechs. Character design grade: A. Celes: 7/6 Second-best magic user in the game (behind Terra, not counting Relm), and the only other character with natural magic learning. However, as opposed to Morph making stats go through the roof, her skill Runic is close to useless in most battles. I admit, I like to heal my party with magic, and I can't do that if she has Runic status on her (which would also make the Speck mightily annoying, if not for its low HP). It's good for one battle--the one against TunnelArmr--but other than that, to use it effectively, I'd have to know what monsters use what magic and lores (by "lores" I refer to spells for which a blue triangle appears when cast by Gau, Strago, or Gogo), and this would have to be timed just right. And I'd need more powerful healing items. (*refuses to use X-Potions and Elixirs liberally*) But she does get to use powerful broadswords (nice). In terms of character development, she's probably the best-looking female character, but also most impractically dressed (general in a swimsuit and cape? C'mon!), and despite her protest that "I'm a general, not some love-starved twit!" or something like that, she IS sort-of a love-starved twit, in love with Locke. I think the game does put a lot of emphasis on that, but makes it somewhat awkward (e.g. the "traitor" scene in Vector, the scene between Celes and Locke before the ship sails away). Interesting side-plot and well-designed dynamic and round character. Character design grade: B. Setzer: 8/6 One of the coolest characters, with the coolest and most unique weapons, arguably the best character theme of all the characters, and supplied the quintessential airship. However, he isn't involved in the plot that much: opera, airship, escape from Vector, Daryl, second airship. Also, his unique skill isn't the best either: most of the time I get Lagomorph, which is nearly useless, and if I do get a match I usually get 7-Flush (FFIIIus)/Flash (FFVI) or Chocobop. I later found out that the game bars you from getting better matches if your level is too low. And my Setzer is at level 49 already! When equipped with the CoinToss relic, he can also have GPToss, but that attack is very expensive, literally. Overall, a character who has some very cool aspects, but isn't necessarily the best. (But his Fixed Dice do kick 9999 arse quite often.) Character design grade: B. Mog: 6/7 So there're moogles living in the caves of Narshe. And one of them is named Mog, and is an accomplished Dancer/geomancer. And he apparently has a Sasquatch working for him. Okay...that's about it for character backstory. Dance is rather interesting, as it combines dancing (well, more so merely the term "Dance") with geomancing (although he CAN try to change the scenery). I never found Dance that useful, although it was fun to get all eight of them (there should be more!), since Mog stumbles half the time as long as he's not dancing the dance of his environs, and Dance is uncontrollable. His dances are fun to play around with, and are at least more useful than some other skills (like Runic), and he has a decent stats. And he fetches Umaro for you (nice) and can go on "autopilot" while Cyan is charging. Character design grade: C+. Strago: 5/10 At first, Strago only had Aqua Rake, Stone, and Revenge, and was not too useful during the burning house scenario. He also had the worst attack power of the group, although equipped with the best weapon he could use (one of the specials), but he could still occasionally beat the bombs in one hit (whereas Terra and Locke could most of the time). Only later did I go lore-collecting with Strago, Gau, and Relm, and then I had a lot of fun and realized that Strago was quite a powerful character, especially with Lores like Aero, Step Mine, Quasar, GrandTrain, and CleanSweep. On the character development side, Strago doesn't have much, but it's still up for grabs why he "joined" the Cult of Kefka (why don't people argue over this question?). And despite his having rather little to do with most of the plot, he does help out once, and has an interesting personality. And old men with beards and powerful magic are always cool. Character design grade: B-. Relm: 7/5 She is an interestingly foul-mouthed youth, with a rather flat (literary term) and static personality of being annoying but also genuinely kind and helpful. Has an interesting backstory (which seems to involve one apparently unrelated character), but that's about it to character development. The burning house scenario always seemed to me a scene thrown in for no real reason (although, again, stuff like that does happen in real life), but she did contribute to the Uncle Ulty scene. Despite her high magic power, I haven't noticed it (well, I haven't noticed her low attack power either). Her main skill, Sketch, has an annoyingly low chance of doing something interesting (usually it's a weak physical attack with the power of the enemy sketched); it becomes a lot better for Control (available by equipping the FakeMustache), but that doesn't work on bosses. Sketch/Control's main use for me is to help Strago learn lores, and that's about it. Although I've taught her all the magic spells (except Merton and Quick because I don't have Crusader or Raiden), and she wears the powerful BehemothSuit, I still don't use her that much, and I considered her a basically "random part joiner" in the espers' gathering place event. Character design grade: C-. Umaro: 8/6 Definitely not the best-developed character, since he's given no backstory and no plot significance at all (other than the battle over the Terrato magicite). But it fits. He is an obviously rather unintelligent but obedient and helpful sasquatch, he plays the role of the berserker class--hits hard and hits fast (he has decent speed), but you can't tell him what to hit, nor can you tell him when to hit it and with what attack. For many battles (ones where you don't have to watch what you hit), he goes well with any group, but especially Cyan, who takes forever to charge up his better Swdtechs. With the Rage Ring, he gets a defense-piercing attack; with the Blizzard Orb, an ice attack on all enemies; and he also comes with the amazing Snow Muffler. Unfortunately, he comes with quite a lot of MP and a decent magic attack power, but has nowhere to use them (other than on magic power for Storm). Character design grade: C. Gogo: 10/10 And what the heck is Gogo? Let's not mind that question, as the game doesn't give us enough information. Many people have complained about Gogo's lack of character development, but I think it's best left like this--ambiguous. Gogo also has one of the best character themes. Gogo's versatility of ability is also something great about him/her: You have to keep Mimic in the first slot, but just like in FFV, you can "equip" abilities onto Gogo--but these abilities are the special skills of all your other characters (except Umaro, of course). Give Gogo three of Blitz/Lore/Magic/Item and you instantly have a powerhouse! Character design grade: A. [Edit=8:21 PM, 17 March 2004] Finally done! I would say that I agree with Stephen the Third on almost all of his character ratings, except Setzer.
The first time I played with him, I thought he was the worst thing to come to video games since... I don't even have a good comparison (perhaps unsliced bread?) But I was young, and after playing multiple times I have learned he is much better, not quite a 10, but close. Then/Now Terra: 6/7 -Her and Celes were interchangeable, and Celes didn't whine. Locke: 6/10 - The character with the best story, plus he could steal. Edgar: 7/10 - My favorite, Gerad was so sneaky. Sabin: 10/7 - Blitzes were cool, but Tools, I dunno were just better. Shadow: 7/8 - Cool guy, have yet to see all his dreams, sigh Celes: 8/9 - Genji Glove + Offering or Gem Box + Economizer = Yummy Mog: 10/10 - Love him, don't use him much, but he is too cute. kupo! Gau: 7/3 - I don't know why I liked him, now I just find him annoying. Setzer: 1/7 - Above Cyan: 10/8 - I don't like his fighting much, but I do love Mr. Thou's story. Relm: 2/2 - I almost didn't want to get her to 9999/9999 Strago: 4/4 - Old fart?/ Or wise gramps, I cannot decide. Umaro: 3/3 - ...(Does'nt that make sense?) Gogo: 6/6 - I like her(Read Gogo theory), it was a pleasure to have her. Leo: 7/7 - Very, tried to do 4000 fight in Dinosaur forest, but got lazy. Ziegfried: 5/10 He looked so cool, he was so easy, what is the treasure! Kefka: 10/1000 - If I were evil, I would model my life after his, infact I think I might want to become evil just so I can laugh like him. YAY! -------------------- I live vicariously through the internet |

interesting topic indeed.
![]() Terra 4/9 i didn't really used to like her at all, i liked celes a *lot* more. but now i like terra. not only does she have the best music piece in the game as a character theme, she's a cool character who had to go through a lot. she may not be a perennial pillar of strength, but her story is a touching one. Locke 6/2 pfft, never really liked him much. i guess he was sort of cool to me way back in the day when i was a little kid, but now i really can't stand him. he's not very useful in battle, steal is hardly worth the effort in ff6, and his personality gets old real fast. Edgar 7/9 at first i liked sabin better, but as i played through the game multiple times, edgar's faux-charm seemed a lot cooler to me than it originally did. i dunno, i'd always liked him, but now i guess i appreciate him more. i mean, he's a *king* and he's one of the leaders of a rebel faction. Sabin 8/7 i still really like him, but i just like edgar more now. i don't think they did enough with sabin after his scenario and the little explaning on how edgar screwed him out of the throne that he wouldn't have taken anyway. he was certainly useful in battle when blitz worked, and the whole martial arts thing was cool. Shadow 7/6 eh, shadow's being a ninja is great and all, and he'd slit his own momma's throat for a nickel (and he has a badass dog), but further than that, there's not really a whole lot to be liked about this character. i suppose the dream scenes were more past development than any other character might have had, but the guy is a total ass to his daughter. Cyan 7/10 i've always liked cyan, but back when i first played the game, i wasn't into japanese history and didn't know all of the stuff that i know now. now that i know he's a samurai and he fights for a code of honour as well as his family, he pretty much coolplusplus'ed in my book ![]() Celes 8/9 i like celes. i think her damaged experience is a good counter to terra's searching innocence. she was useful in battle from her large variety of equipment selection even is runic sucked, and the opera house part of the game is a decent change from the everyday grinding. she's definitely my favourite female character in the game, even if her music is *not* as cool as terra's. and even if she likes that loser, locke. Gau 3/2 well, never liked gau. and still don't. he's useless in battle if you aren't counting on rage cheesing, his speech pattern is extremely annoying, and he's a brat to boot. Setzer 10+/10+ definitely my favourite character in the game, by a longshot. ![]() Mog 10/10 my second favourite character in the game. the dances (sun song) saved my ass i don't know how many times, even if they are unreliable and shouldn't be used in boss fights. he's also the only character besides edgar who can use spears, which are a powerful set of weapons. he's super-cute and looks like a cat, and on top of everything, he insults ramuh's age. priceless. Strago 4/6 strago and relm never did it for me. i guess i like him a little better now because i like his unique blue magic, but i wouldn't ever have him in my Final Four or anything like that. that's reserved for setzer, mog, celes/terra, and cyan/edgar/sabin/shadow. Relm 2/1 (0) like i said, these 2 never did it for me. and as i played through multiple times and saw how totally *useless* relm was as a character, i liked her even less. plus, she's bratty, even for a little kid, and overly arrogant. she *would* get a 0 from me, but she gets 1 sympathy point cuz shadow is an ass to her. Gogo 7/7 i don't guess he's particularly useful due to his crappy stats and no way to raise them besides levelling, but he has the coolest character design in the game, and a cool character theme, too. i just like looking at him, i guess. there's something about gogo. ![]() Umaro 5/5 really don't care either way about this one. i guess he's useful, but i never liked the fact that you can't control him. it's also cool that he's a yeti, and you get one of my favourite espers in the game from him, so he's not all *that* bad. Citan 10++/10++ the coolest video game character ever? so he's a badass, a strong fighter he has no limiter, his gears are named after norse mythology, plus he twists the plot about 7 ways from sunday on several occasions. then he gets a sword. and he's like, "to hell with the kenshin bullshit, i'm picking up my sword to kill again because stupid self-righteous morals are for ninnies and yuna." i would say more, but i would hate to spoil this game that if no one has played through yet they would never anyway ![]() |

Terra: 9/7. I really liked her the first times through, but in later times, she's gotten on my nerves because she's very whiny.
Locke: 9/9. I like Locke. He's a cool guy, very honorable (towards the ladies). Edgar: 10/6. I loved him the first few times through the game, but recently I feel less and less inclined to use him or even care about him. Sabin: 8/9. He's a fun guy. He could be my favorite character in the game. Cyan: 3/10. One of my favorites in the game. I really like him in the World of Ruin. I did NOT like him at all when I first played through the game, though. Celes: 6/5. She's just irritating to me. Blah, blah. Cid is my "grandpa". BLAH. Gau: 1/8. I discovered his usefulness. ![]() Setzer: 8/4. I really can't stand Setzer. Something about him just bothers me to no end. I don't like his attitude in the WoR...even after you get him back, he still seems to be all mopey, hanging out by himself in that parlor on the Falcon. Not a fan. Mog: 8/5. His Dance intrigued me when I was younger, now it's just a useless diversion for the most part. Shadow: 8/10. He's excellent. The dreams are awesome -- if you haven't seen them, go sleep at the inn. A lot. Strago: 5/6. FF6 is one of the only FF games where I don't like the "blue mage" in the game. I always get the spells in 5, I fill up Enemy Skills in 7...I even eat with Quina in 9. But I just don't like Strago. Relm: 10/9. All-powerful little girl. She has some of the funniest dialogue in the game, like her throes with Ultros by the statues. Gogo: 8/2. The "all magic in your party" gimmick wore off very quickly when I realized that everything Gogo does is half-assed and half-powered, or close to it. Umaro: 2/2. Yawn. Fun, but again, annoying. Cool topic. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? Okay...here's my take on the cast...
Terra: 4/3 Sorry, but I'm just not a very big Terra fan (possibly because her name is similar to that of a girl I dislike in real life)...she really doesn't rise above the rest of the characters in any special way, and she's way too whiney. Locke: 7/5 There's too much importance placed on Locke in this game's story. I used to think he was witty and kind of cool, but these days it just seems like the game revolves around him for a large portion of it, and I don't even like him that much. Edgar: 6/7 I've always like Edgar, aside from his failed attempts at wit and charm. I'm sure the tools have a lot to do with that. Sabin: 9/10 He's always been my favorite in all aspects, from moves to the way he looks to his heartfelt and witty interaction with the other characters. Shadow: 3/8 I didn't care for him much back in the old days, until I found out his story is actually fairly complex. I used to just think he was another Gogo with no substance to him. Cyan: 7/8 Cyan's tragic story has always caused me to feel pity for him, and give him a lot of use so he won't have too much time to brood. His skills are time consuming, but useful when used at the right places and times. Celes: 5/8 I used to dislike her for a variety of reasons, partly for her obsession with Locke. Then I found out how useful "Runic" can be, and equiped her with Genji Glove and Atma Weapon/Ragnarok to ofset her wimpy attacks. Plus, I just have a thing for blondes... ![]() Gau: 4/6 Eh...his rage skills can be very useful, but what about when he starts using wimpy physical attack aspects of a rage instead of the powerful ones you were betting on? I'm not much of a fan of uncontrollable characters, but his personality is great. Setzer: 4/9 I used to think he was a jerk, but somewhere between the first time I played the game and now, I came to view him as a compassionate and helpful character will to gamble with his life to help his friends. Mog: 7/3 Cute, but I'm not buying Moogles as awesome warriors anymore. I think more than anything Mog was just kind of a mascot like Ronald McDonald stuck into the game to become a sort of RPG icon. Now, he just warms the bench with Umaro and Gogo. Strago: 4/2 Dull old fart, devoid of any signs of real "coolness". Even Obi-Wan fared better than this guy. Who only masters skills when they've been physically abused by them, anyway? I give him just what a senior citizen really needs...lots and lots of rest. Relm: 2/1 Argh...Relm makes me want to hurl. Why, Clyde, WHY?? You'd think she would have gained coolness points when I found out she might be Shadow's daughter, but instead it made me realize she could have followed in her father's footsteps and become something cool. No such luck. Just a brat with a brush and some dumb suits. Gogo: 5/2 I used to think Gogo's talent was quite amusing, but nobody likes a copycat, and after a while, you wish he was bringing something new to the table. The chances that he'll copy the attack you want him to are usually "ify", making him an uncontrollable lunatic who pretty much does what he pleases. Umaro: 4/6 I rarely use him, but I love sasquatches (don't ask me why), and appreciate his primative nature and brute strength. He looks good on the bench, and keeps Mog and Gogo company. -------------------- You know me, you just wish you didn't... "Uwee hee hee! Don't tease the octopus, kids!" -Ultros- "Don't let the smooth taste fool you..." |

Here I go
Terra- 10/4 I use to love her then i read I90's female character comparison and was like Celes is better statswise, so she dropped out of my main party real quick. Locke-9/9- I always liked him for some reason. maybe i just like thieves with Chick skillz. Edgar-3/6- I only liked him slightly more due to chainsaw. I used him extensively in the WOB before the Floating Contitnent. Sabin-1/1 Useless to me. I dont use him. Shadow-10/10 The throw command pwns j00. I love him. Hes so badass Assasin with an evil dog. My favorite character next to kefka Kefka-1/10- I wasn't able to apreciate Kefka's Fulll evil until he took over he world. THen I was Like- OH YEAH BEST VILLIAN EVER! Gesthal-5/9- Not evil enough.Yet slightly more evil than your average bear. Cyan-1/1 Booo I Piss on your honor. Honor is for the weak. I used him only when i had to. Never more than that. Useless to the tenth power, least favorite character next to Leo, who's just like him Leo-1/1 Good im Glad Kefka offed Him. Gau-7/7 I zever use him but i understand his potential. Im to Lazy to care about his rages so he remains dusty on my shelf. I used him the entire WOB when i could because Blaze(Bomb) Got me through many a boss fight. Setzer- 6/1 Useless(Pushes him off the airship) I declare Shadow captain. Strago- 1/1- Go away, you are useless. Lore's weren't worth the effort. Relm 1/2- I hate you. You get points for being Shadows offspring Mog-10/9- Don't know why but i love this moogle. Maybe i just needed some Minorities in my main party. (are Moogles a Minority?) Celes-2/10- Used to hate her. Thanks to I90 I use her instead of Terra . I Love Her. Umaro-?/? i never real(y used him i cant say. He just sits there on my airship, collecting dust with Gau. Gogo- 10/2 - Used to like him. Then I realized his stats are totally shitty. Everything he does is pure crap. Locke - cool at the beginning when you first get him, and he stays pretty cool until he manages to show emotion when you finally learn of his past with Rachel - they he became excellent. 8/10, although one mark deducted for lack of originality. There seems to always be some cute, humurous, good-natured thief with a dark history ready to save the world.
Terra - My mind is fickle on her. Sometimes she seems self-obsessed, sometimes not so much. Early on in the game when she was so scared and oblivious to the weight on her shoulders, she was great - as the only magic user, too. But later she wasn't anything special when everyone else got Magic too. 6/10 Edgar - He's cool, and slick. Ye olde womanizer, and his abilities have always gotten me out of a jam. Some of them require serious thought on how they work, though. He has a lot of weight on his shoulders at the beginning, but in the end he just seems to wander in and out of Figaro and nobody notices except the Chancellor... 7/10 Sabin - kewl! He's right up there with Mog, is Sabin. Muscly, powerful and cute. What was annoying was the very little dialogue between him and his brother, but still he rocks. My strongest fighter near the end, but not at the beginning. 8/10 Cyan - I really felt for him when his wife and kid died, and his nobleness, and his dialogue between him and Gau is kewl. I secretly think he looks upon Gau as a fill-in son, but he kina refers to him like he's a butler. "Master Gau." Mr Thou gets a 7/10 Mog - Great how he saves your ass in the beginning, and great when he bosses around Umaro as if he's top dog. Great in battle except for the fairly often stumbling. Outside of these times, not very well developed. Moogle Charm rocks though. 9/10 Setzer - ehhh, some bits were cool, some not so. When you're buying an outfit for Gau, that bit is cool. Really stupid when you first meet him though. His skills are stupid. 6/10 Gau - He was a novelty at first in the Veldt, and it kinda wore off. Sometimes I took him to the Veldt and left him there. But his little story about his father sparked a newfound love for him. So cute, yet so sad.... 7/10 Umaro - RAWR! Extremely hated the lack of development - there could have at least been one optional scene. But he kills stuff dead effectively, and when he throws people at the enemy, I can just imagine him standing there yawning and saying, "You annoy Umaro. You waste Umaro's time. You die! Come here, scrawny green haired girl while I throw you to your doom at this stupid clown!" 8.5/10 Gogo - Who is he/she? Crap development, but his "When do we leave?" when you first find him shows how arrogant and presumptious he/she is, just shoving his way into your party. And he's a beast in the battle. Bum Rush! Ultima! Throw! Auto Crossbow! 7/10 Relm - She was kinda cool when I first saw her, but with the pool swirling with lack of development that every character is initibely pushed into rotted her more than anyone else. Paintbrush? Ha. 5/10 Strago - "I'll teach you youngens a thing or two about fightin! Oh nerts, my good hip...Relm honey....fetch the nice doctor..." Too hard to collect his lores, whereas Gau's come ten a penny. His personality was good at the beginning though, near the end of the WOB. After that, he too decayed.... 6/10 Shadow - Just like a moody teenager, but when you see all his dreams, and see the death of Baram, and when he shows his true colours on the Floating Continent, I loved him again. 7/10 -------------------- "Luck is my middle name. Mind you, my first name is Bad." - Rincewind You can be as self-assertive as you like, just so long as you do what you’re told.†- Granny Weatherwax "When Mr. Safety Catch Is Not On, Mister Crossbow Is Not Your Friend" - Sam Vimes to Detritus |

i think he was giving the characters a single score out of ten instead of a "then and now" kind of scoring.

Yep. My simple mind cannot control two sets of scores at once. It makes me see colours which don't exist.

Terra? I liked her...but not too much. Her background story was dramatic and could have been worked out much, much better. For instance, let's not forget the fact that Gestahl killed her mother and kept her father as a medical experiment for a number of years (eighteen/twenty, conflicting numbers). How many of us actually knew that? Exactly. There is a MAJOR story in her past, and I think it needs a very good fanfic writer to touch the subject. And battle-wise she is good enough, but without the Gem Box/Quick she won't get past 9999. And Morph isn't quite as good as it could have been.
Locke? I never had much of an impression of him, he was just the 'average guy' every game needs. Now, I think he's a slighty irrational character. Locke Cole, my friend. Move on. It's very touching, I must say, but not very plausible. And that thing he has going on with Celes...I don't know. Locke: Celes.... Celes: Locke.... (silence) Locke: Celes... Battle-wise, I've always liked him. He wasn't good at doing a major amount of damage, but as soon as he got his gloved hands on the Hawk Eye/Sniper, he was doing some major maiming out there. And let's not forget the Valiantknife. I look my characters a little subtle. Edgar? A little childish from time to time, and I wish he would have been more of a 'leader' to the team. He never was much of a king in the game. And he has a very disturbing scene in which he hears South Figaro is taken by the Empire...and he gets mad because Locke calls him lecherous. Battle-wise, he is one of my favorites: not really because he has the ability to do massive amounts of damage to a single enemy...but because of the AutoCrossbow. This thing will save you from a lot of frustration on the Veldt, considering it has the ability to kill 80 % of the enemy groups you encounter in a single hit. Sabin? I dislike him a LOT. 'Uh? Why's everybody singing?' You might protest and say that Sabin spent his life in the mountains...but Gau spent his life among animals and he could appreciate a song just fine. And battle-wise, Sabin is the hardest hitter of them all....but he hits only one time pro turn, leaving him behind that 9999 glass ceiling. Ofcourse, MY Sabin pulls off more damage with two Tiger Fangs and the Genji Glove...but !Blitz-wise, you're stuck at 9999. Cyan? His story is a VERY touching one, and I totally agree with whoever sais it's admirable how he just goes on. Leo: 'You! You're Cyan, retainer to the lord of Doma! Please forgive me for not being there to stop Kefka...' Cyan: 'That...that wasn't your fault'. This, ladies and gentlemen, is a MAN. Battle-wise, I don't see the problem with his charging: you'll be using Dispatch against most enemies for a decent amount of damage in the World of Balance, while the World of Ruin provides both a lot of time-taking spells for Cyan to charge...and Quick, the ultimate SwdTech improver. His weapons and armor are unforgivably boring, though. And hitting four times makes Cyan elude that 9999 glass ceiling very nicely. Gau?...If there are people out there who have not gotten it in their sytem yet: Gau is the strongest character in the game. He doesn't need any armor or Relics to have him protected against all eight elements and all status-ailments, he can Freeze, he can Charm, he can become a Wind God, he can become a very nice magic-user with the Merit Award and two Enhancers, he can become a very nice physical attacker with the Merit Award and two Tiger Fangs....he can do anything he wants. And let's fact it: the kid's cute. He spents his life on the Veldt and then scares Sabin into dropping 500 GP in a chasm. Gotta love it. Celes? She can do what Terra can...but then just a little bit NOT as good. My Celes wiels the Ragnarok, so that would make her a good characters. But that's just because of the Ragnarok, and not because of Celes. Runic is a non-violant special command, so I like that....but I'm no fan of that Locke-Celes relationship, and an 18-year old General is just something I can't understand. She tries to kill herself instead of trying to do something, then gets all 'let's safe the world' when she discovers Locke is alive. 'I'm a general, not some love-starved twit!' Yeah, right. Setzer? I never really liked him, since Slot was unpredictable and therefor not very....predictable. But thanks to Master ZED's explanation of his Slot technique, I now know it's just an Echo Screen you need to summon Bahamut every single time you want. For his characters, I give a 0. 'What? You're saving the world? Sure, take my ship. I'll risk my life for your cause because of that pretty girl you're carrying around.' If you ask me, Setzer's as psychotic as Kefka...it just doesn't show because he doesn't have any Goddesses to command. But we all forgive him, since he looks legendary cool. I need to get clothes like that (not to mention his hair). Shadow? Too easy. 'Hey, let's create one of those strong-and-silent-types, one with a spooky past. Don't reveal too much..200 grams of creepy dreams...a sniff of hinting....all done. Oh wait, let's give him an agressive dog.' Battle-wise, he is the ultimate elemental-damage deliverer. He can throw Tridents, Poison Rods, Gravity Rods...Terra can use Fire 3, but that doesn't go for Earth 3 or Water 3, now does it? Strago? It's an old man who can kill everything in its path with unpredictable water- and wind-elemental attacks. The downside is that I can never remember if a monster has a weakness against these elements (since they don't come around a lot), but Aero is in fact stronger then summoning Alexandr, Tritoch and Terrato. Yeah. Personality-wise, I don't really him: the rejects the wisdom of an old man and forces himself into a happy-kid-characters. No. And then there's that lack of development...nah. Relm? Since her Sketch command often summons up Giga Volt against Ceritops or Doom against Ghost, I like it a lot. And besides that, not considering Intangir and Chaos Dragon Relm never glitched up the game ONCE...and that Cat Hood is pretty cool. I dislike her, though. There's nothing as sad as a censured trashmouth. Mog? No characteristics to be proud of (although I always imagine him a bit like a rapstar). And !Dance is really not good. Really. Gogo? He can do too much. His stats are bad, his armor possibilities are even worse. No. HE's like Shadow...(look at me, I'm mysterious 'nd stuff), but then in red/green/yello/blue instead of just plain black. Umaro? I'll admit he has his uses...when you're trying to start a zoo. Let's just be short with it: optional characters are not very good. And Visit His Omnipresent And All-Knowing Brain at djibriel.blogspot.com -------------------- |

Terra 6/6
Just a middle of the road character. She's cool, and learns magic, but not among the best in the game. Locke 2/7 I never used to like Locke, but the last couple times I've played, I really came to like his steal ability. It's more usefull than I would have previously given it credit for. Edgar 2/4 I never saw Edgar's appeal. I guess he's good early with AutoCrossbow, but I've never used him a lot. Sabin 10/10 Always been my boy. Crazy damage, and one of the first who can damage multiple characters. Also, with Mantra, he's my primary healer because it doesn't cost any MP. Shadow 4/4 Another middle of the road character, but I don't like the throw command. Perhaps I'm OCD, but I don't like getting rid of items unless I absolutely have to. Cyan 3/6 I never used him for some reason the first couple of times I played, but then I really came to like his SwdTech and unique equipment. I also like his story the most out of everyone. Celes 1/8 I never used to like Celes, but then I was stranded alone with only her as a playable character. I got to like her, and the fact that she learns magic. She's now in my final 4 party. Gau 10/10 Gau is amazing. The largest assortment of spells, the most battery power, and the ability to use good magic before anyone else. By far the best character. Relm 2/1 I hate Relm with a passion that knows not words. I'm not sure why. I suppose it's a combonation of hating sketch/control and not liking the idea of a 9 year old warrior. Setzer 2/1 Right down there with Relm for "most useless." I guess he's cool as a character, but Slot is SO TERRIBLE. I don't understand how he can be used effectively, or at least uniquely. Yeah, you can beef up his stats and teach him cool magic, but you can do that with anyone. Mog 8/4 His dances initially attracted me, but his randomness during dances just makes him a liability. The only reason I use him now is for moogle charm. Strago 2/9 I used to hate Strago along with Relm, but then I really got all the lores and gave Strago an Economizer and Gem Box. It's unbelievable how much defense and offense he can do at the same time. Gogo 10/7 Gogo was always the best. I mean, he could do anything anyone else could, so that makes him the best, right? Then I found out about stats. Umaro 7/6 He's pretty cool, but ultimately, I like controling my characters (at least to an extent). |

Edgar: 8/7 Edgar is nice to have in battle and his womanizing is pretty good Sabin: 6/10 It took me forever to figure out how to work Blitz and now that i know how he is the best! Shadow: 7/7 Throw is fun and interceptor is a real treat, plus he is an interesting person Celes: 6/7 Celes is required to be in your party a lot during WoB and the begining of WoR so she is overused but i like her a lot Gau: 3/6 Gau seemed more like a novelty at first but he is acctualy pretty good Cyan: 8/9 Cyan is strong and i love the way he talks and his story is the most interesting Mog: 7/7 Dance is pretty cool and i like having moogle with me but otherwise he is fairly weak Gogo: 8/10 He can be whatever he wants....what more is their to say? The people have spoken! 19 people across 2 forums have given their opinionated ratings for most of the characters from when they first played the game until now. If I do a recount after some more votes the results will be unpure because people will just be trying to skew the results shown below. Perhaps what I'll do is round up more votes from other forums. Still feel free to post your ratings if you haven't yet. They're always interesting to look at. Anyway here are the results:
Character (# of votes): Then/Now Terra (19): 6.6/6.9 Locke (19): 6.2/6.6 Edgar (19): 6.8/7.0 Sabin (19): 7.9/8.3 Shadow (19): 7.0/7.7 Cyan (19): 6.9/7.8 Celes (18): 5.9/7.4 Gau (18): 4.2/6.2 Setzer (19): 5.1/5.7 Mog (18): 8.0/6.3 Strago (18): 3.7/5.1 Relm (17): 3.2/4.0 Gogo (18): 6.8/6.2 Umaro (17): 4.3/4.8 Most popular "then" character: Mog (8.0) Most popular "now" character: Sabin (8.3) Biggest rating increase: Gau (2.0) Biggest rating decrease: Mog (1.7) Well well, a little education helps doesn't it? Gau goes up two full points, who was once rated BELOW UMARO. ![]() ![]() "Then" order by rating: Mog: 8.0 Sabin: 7.9 Shadow: 7.0 Cyan: 6.9 Edgar/Gogo: 6.8 Terra: 6.6 Locke: 6.2 Celes: 5.9 Setzer: 5.1 Umaro: 4.3 Gau: 4.2 Strago: 3.7 Relm: 3.2 "Now" order by rating: Sabin: 8.3 Cyan: 7.8 Shadow: 7.7 Celes: 7.4 Edgar: 7.0 Terra: 6.9 Locke: 6.6 Mog: 6.3 Gau/Gogo: 6.2 Setzer: 5.7 Strago: 5.1 Umaro: 4.8 Relm: 4.0 Then & Now Combined: Sabin: 8.10 Shadow/Cyan: 7.35 Mog: 7.15 Edgar: 6.90 Terra: 6.75 Celes: 6.65 Gogo: 6.50 Locke 6.40 Setzer: 5.40 Gau: 5.20 Umaro: 4.55 Strago: 4.40 Relm: 3.60 Order by change: Gau: 2.0 Celes: 1.5 Strago: 1.4 Cyan: .9 Relm: .8 Shadow: .7 Setzer: .6 Umaro: .5 Locke/Sabin: .4 Terra: .3 Edgar: .2 Gogo: .6 Mog: 1.7 This post has been edited by i90east on 25th March 2004 21:56 -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! I'm surprised that Cyan had as much rating increase as he did. I sort of assumed that lots of people already liked him from the beginning.
That's pretty much the only thing I'm surprised by, though. I would expect that the underrated (but good) characters like Gau, Strago, and Celes would have a good increase, and that the crazy overrated Mog and Gogo would have a decrease. I'm surprised that they're the only two with an average decrease, though... People still don't like Strago very much...how unfortunate. |

hey this is pretty cool i wana do it too..
Then..and Now 1. Terra 5/7 ~> at first when i played i didnt think much of her either way...however it was my 1st RPG experiance. as i played the game more and others, i learned to like her character personality, and her magic attacks are quite nice 2. Locke 7/4 ~> i thought being able to steal was cool, and it is, but it comes in handy rarely, and other than that, he aint much 3. Edgar 10/8 ~> his tools were great early on, after many years of playing, he bores me, but he is still effective 4. Sabin 10/10 ~> he may not be the best charactr in the game, but his blitzes are always one step ahead of the enemy, and his character is great, he's always up for anything 5. Shadow 5/5 ~> i admit, shadow is definitly a cool guy, and mysterious. However, his throws are effective, but pricey, and he is just not a personal favortive of mine, although i can see why others do find him to be the best 6. Gau 10/10 ~> its hard work, but once u get all those rages, hes good...but like i said it does take forever and other than his GOOD rages he sucks in battle, but his character is very intrigueing, i like him...hes a little rag torn boy that kicks some serious booty when ya work with him (ive also seen him in a tuxedo in the game..that was cool!!) 7. Celes 3/3 ~> attractive, runic blade good, great singer...other than that...not a fan of her 8. Cyan 4/6 ~> hes alrite, swordtech is time consuming and not that effective 9. Mog 10/10 ~> my favorite... i love mog, hes so weird 10. Relm 0/0 ~> i hate her 11. Strago 6/8 ~> the more lores u learn, the more u like that creepy old man 12. Setzer 4/10 ~> any good slot was rare...he wasnt much, until i uncovered the fixed dice and the offering relic... 13. Umaro 1/3 ~> meh...nothin special outta him 14. Gogo 10/10 ~> he can do anything! |

Alright here is mine:
Terra: 3/9: she sucked at the beginning of the game, now she is an awesome character with all of her magic. Locke: 2/3: He is awful in battle but he just hogs up space on the falcon. His lines were funny though Edgar: 10/10: My favorite FFVI Character, he is one of the best Final Fantasy character ever. And his tools Rawk! Sabin: 9/5: He was cool, but then he lost his touch. Shadow: 5/3: I didn't save him, what a mediocre character. Celes: 7/3: She was good at the beginning of the game, and then I stopped using her and she just got more boring to me. Cyan: 9/4: He rocked when you first got him, his attack were perfect, I loved Quadra Slam, but then he stopped getting used. Gau: 6/0: In the WoB when I got him he was sort of good, he had good phrases such as Mr. thou, Mr. thou and Uwaoo! Then I got him back in the WoR and he was at such a low level (28). He has been obselete since I got him and I leave him by himself in the Falcon Setzer: 5/8: He is an average character but heck he got better (Fixed Dice!) Mog: 9/10: when I got him, I loved the dances and he was pretty powerful, know I got the Moogle Charm and he is Perfect! Strago: 6/1: Old fart, that does magic.Useful when you get him but begins to suck real soon Relm: 7/7: She has cool lines and she has me OTFL (On the floor laughing). What she does in battle seemed useless at some points. Umaro: 2/5: Medicore, I should have not got him, useful for the colluseum Gogo: 8/10: Perfection! Useful for my Ultima/Gem box combo This post has been edited by GamblingCat on 30th July 2004 18:19 |

Is there anyone else who wants to participate in this? I'm going to post the final results of this study on a new website so I really need the most participation possible. Just don't over exaggerate your opinions please.
