What are some of the most absurd weapons that have ever appeared in FF games? I'm thinking of Edward's (FFIV) and the bard's (FFV) harp, Relm's paintbrush (FFVI), and Cait Sith's megaphone (FFVII-correct me if I'm wrong on this one, since I've only heard of this, and I haven't gotten that far in the game yet).

I completely despise Cait Sith. He is a giant stuffed animal weilding a microphone as a weapon. I believe the most absurud weapon would have to be the megaphone.

I always felt the Buster Sword was a bit odd. No man should be able to pick up, let alone swing, a sword that large.

All of Cloud's swords and Sephiroth's Masamune were so completely unbalanced to the point of them being useless.
I think Excalibur should have had something to fit the etymology alittle better. The only ones it did were FFIII and FFIV (sort of). In FFIII, you actually found it in the a stone, and in FFIV it was made from a stone. FFV was kind of close with the seal thing, though. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

In FFI the Black Belt's nunchaku became pointless (and detrimental to his attack) after x number of levels.
In FFIX Quina used a fork. And Eiko used...a flute. In FFX Lulu used dolls. (Although a Cait Sith doll in her hands is a much better character than FFVII's Cait Sith ![]() This post has been edited by The_Pink_Nu1 on 16th November 2003 04:06 -------------------- SPEKKIO: "GRRR...That was most embarrassing!" |

i like cait sith, i thought he was really cool.
however, i thought that the fact that red XIII used a headdress as a weapon, and lockes full moon weapon COMPLETELY sucked ass. boooo -------------------- once you can accept yourself, you will never be alone |

(but when roleplaying s wakka i alwys throw in a joke likethis: hey tidus my balls are buring ![]() -------------------- PARENTAL ADVISORY:The text in this signature may offend some people read at your own risk. |

Quote (The_Pink_Nu1 @ 16th November 2003 04:06) Eiko used...a flute. Careful anyone who has played Dynasty Warriors 4 will know that a flute can be used as a weapon and a nasty one at that. But back on topic. As far as useless weapons go this is a tough one. I wouldn't call the headress useless because Red XIII couldn't wield a weapon and headresses can hold materia. Cait Sith's Megaphones were used to enhance the Giant Mog with its commands so not entirely useless. The paint brush gets my vote. Unless it becomes a massive bludgeoning weapon then it is very useless. |

Cid- Mop RedXIII- Hair Clip Vincent- Revolver Yuffie- Boomerang Cait Sith- Megaphone Vincents Comic weapon was called the silver rifle, barrets was the rocket punch (just a boxing glove instead of a gun) yuffies wasnt the boomerang, but the superball that you get at fort condor, cait siths was the trumpet shell, you totally FORGOT aerith's umbrella, and not to nitpick, but red's was the hair PIN not the hair clip. with the exception of aerith's umbrella (won in the GS shooting coaster), yuffie's superball (recieved in battle #11 at fort condor), and cid's mop (dug up in bone village), you find all of these in the temple of the ancients. vincent's silver rifle is found in the same room as the merchant, barret's rocket punch is found in that giant room that looks like an escher painting, tifa's work glove is found at 6:00 on the clock (the door maze room), cait sith's trumpet shell is found at (i think) 4:00, clouds nail bat is found in the room you end up in if the second hand knocks you down below and you have to fight the two ancient dragons, and i honestly dont remember where the hairpin is. i think the most retardo FF weapon was the Geomancer class's bell And the Scholar class's book in FF3j. both classes sucked big time. Has anyone thought of these (from SMRPG)?
Hurly Gloves--Bowser hurls mini Mario doll (or Mario himself) Cymbals, Sonic Cymbals--must follow the same principle as the harp and the megaphone Parasol--similar to Aeris's umbrella Frying Pan--actually CAN be used as an effective weapon (amazing!) And how about Crono's Mop from CT? Edit: Wait--umbrellas can actually be used effectively as weapons if you poke your enemies with them. Also, Sephiroth's Masamune (as opposed to all the other Masamunes) is insanely long. But I doubt there isn't any other person who can't wield that. Books usually have good information on killing enimies and thanks to books most of those characters had a brain in the first place. I'd never call books useless. They can break noses as well.

Well absurd weapons? Nahh... But two weapon categories made me giggle actually.
Both are in FF III: Books and Bells. I understand that books and bells are good weapons (I personally used books until I was 14 and sometimes still use them for intimidating foes ![]() Killing evil beasts of incomparible might with books and bells? I love FF7's Masamune and Buster Sword... but anyway, I vote for the Geomancer's bell: it's not even used for striking. The megaphone was kind of dumb, but Cait Sith's hands are so big that it made sense to me.

Yeah, heheh, the cloths were kind of stupid. But also the other useless weapon I can think of is those purses. I fail to see how you can kill a super monster by clubbing him with a purse...

Note however, that a purse can be used to club an enemy. A cloth can be used to slap the enemy. A bell is used to...ring the enemy? And how about a paintbrush...paint the enemy?

I'd put the gunblade up there, just because I hate those things. I mean, who would want to master a weapon that looks so uncomfortable to even hold?
Bells would also have to be up there, unless Square's explanation for them is using them incessantly to drive the enemy mad...I've done that with my mom, and it worked rather well. ![]() As for books, I kinda liked those. They have ranged attacks (FFT), so it seems to imply that the users are chanting passages that are probably harmful spells at the enemy. And as for stuff like purses and cloths and megaphones, just remember that these games are made by the Japanese. They could probably think up a way to kill you by using (no hurling or dropping involved ![]() -------------------- "N'GHAAA! This is heavier than I thought! C'mon peoples? None from FFVI? I know they got mostly cool weapons, but what is the use for Setzer's various gambling equipment, like Cards, Dice, and Trump? These just don't have any real life attack value at all. I don't count ALL of Setzer's weapons to be useless, I mean, the Darts are pretty cool...
