Word. I access CoN on my phone as much or more than anyone. It's pretty shoddy. Or, well, it was, because by the time you read this, it will have gotten a whole lot better. If you visit CoN from your phone now, you're going to see a version of Skyglade that has been polished significantly for your enjoyment on your handheld device. We've reduced the number of images that you'll have to download, which your data plan will appreciate. We've also reorganized the navigation behind the popular "hamburger" button so that you can have more screen real estate for the content you're reading front-and-center. And, for everyone, we've implemented "lazy loading" on image-heavy pages so that you won't be forced to download pictures until you are ready for them. Your CoN browsing on any device will be quicker and lighter than before.
We're considering this to be beta. It's not like us to release content to you that we ourselves call beta, but in this case we feel confident in the quality of what we have already done and want you to be able to use it even though it doesn't cover every case. You might notice that some pages will require scrolling from left to right on phones in portrait mode, so rotating your phone to landscape might be beneficial. This is especially true of the forums. Some pages will remain generally difficult to use on mobile, but we will do our best in the future to continue to update them. If you come across any problems that you simply can't accept, we welcome your feedback in the forums, on Facebook, or on Twitter. If you like what we've done here, please add CoN to your home screen so you can have quick access to our guides and community no matter where you're playing! |

I come here on my phone a lot too and it does indeed look a lot better now. Even when I do have to scroll sideways in portrait mode, it's only a little bit.

Nice. Now I can derail a thread on the go~
Makes me wonder though. What's the site traffic like these days? I don't see nearly as many users online as I used to. I love this place, but I wonder how useful we are to gamers in this era. Quote (Narratorway) Well played.Shenanigans Quote (No-Name) Well, nobody's going to be fooled if I sit here and tell you that community traffic is the same as it was x years ago. The forums and chat attest to that without me saying anything at all. The site, though, is actually trucking right along. I'm doing some quick and dirty metrics on pageviews for the purposes of writing this post, and comparing the last seven and a half years, we have been above the overall average for pageviews for the last twenty months straight. Dialing that to figure to consider only the last three years instead, we've still been above that average for nine of the last twelve months.Makes me wonder though. What's the site traffic like these days? I don't see nearly as many users online as I used to. I love this place, but I wonder how useful we are to gamers in this era. My statistics-fu is rapidly aging, as I mostly do simple stuff nowadays at work and my last stats class was very nearly twenty years ago. I might throw some of these numbers at Neal later, as he's got a much better mind for such things than I do. Anyway, what I'm saying here is that if you don't look specifically at posts and threads in the forums, the site is pretty robust still, and that has a great deal to do with the quality of the overall content we provide outside the forums. That quality just got a quick kick upward thanks to the release we're talking about in this thread, as a plurality of users now come from smaller-screen devices (I've been doing some rudimentary analytics on that as well recently but don't have them to hand). Any real concern for the long-term viability of the site really centers around the community, which is heartbreaking but understanding given the plethora of social media available to today's users that just wasn't really there ten or even five years back. So, it's just back to my oft-repeated mantra: you want an active community, be an active community. ![]() -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Splendid. Now the site doesn't suck on Androids, as I'm more than primarily an Android user. Thanks!
