Is it too much to ask to make this game playable on a console? It took years to be ported over here only to make it on a strange concept handheld. I read something yesterday saying its being rereleased so I opened the article and its going to be done on a phone ... of all things. Ive already made my hatred of handheld systems known. But they are still better imo than a stupid phone. Its frustrating. I dont own handheld systems. I refuse to buy a cell phone but apparently thats going to be the only way to fill the gap of the pre FFX era Im missing. sad.gif

There is always the unlikely chance of it being released on Virtual Console. Althought it may only be in Japan. FFI, IV, and VI as I remember are on VC however.

The only official translation is the DS version. No two ways about it. It's also extremely unlikely that they'd put the NES version on the Virtual Console, as it never had an official English translation and none of the VC's imports are text-heavy games.

You could always play a fan-translated ROM on a NES emulator or a DS ROM on a DS emulator on your computer, but don't expect to find information on ROMs here. Check CoN's rules page.

A friend of mine did it that way long before the DS port was ever made.

Apparently it's a largely different game, at least story-wise, since they actually created more of a story and defined characters for the DS one. Is that true?

The DS version is very different from the original NES (and thus fan-patched) version of the game. The beginnings especially are totally rearranged, the bosses act a lot differently, etc. I would think that you'd get maximum impact from the DS game after you had already played the NES version, but that's just me.

I hated Final Fantasy 3. I'm sorry to all that like it but the game was just boring. I do own the DS version, and I did finish it. The only good part of the story was the Warriors of Darkness and Warriors of Light story.

I actually played the NES version before the DS one. The characters basically have no personality at all, and there's even less of a story, but I really enjoyed it... I wish they would make a new version, as there's some irritating things about the DS one, like having to use wi-fi to get everything...

Second best selling video game console to date is a "strange concept handheld," that's an amusing thought. Is it really still "strange" or "conceptual" when it has such a wide user base? I guess it's all a matter of perspective.

FF3 hit Japan's VC almost 3 years ago, but why bother to localize a Famicom game just for VC, you know?

A-L hates handheld consoles for some reason or another.

I think they either just released it or are going to release it soon for iOS. Apparently it's virtually the same as the DS version, save it being on one screen, of course.
