Can't believe how long it's been since I've been here, and at the (still young) age of 25, I find myself returning to the places I once I traveled (well if you consider clicking around travelling). So I'll begin with a post like this since I came across this game recently at a local gaming and hobby shop called Cool Stuff..
..I can't tell you how awesome the music is in this lesser known Action RPG. I never played any of the spin-offs or predecessors. For unenlightened, it's a fairly linear storyline about Adol and his friend Dogi. It's a sidescrolling game with fairly sensitive controls. The dynamics work around the usual fare of vanquishing free moving 2D sprites in a Renaissance era landscape. But, like so many other of it's contemporaries, the music on the SNES version is remarkable. I vividly remember first playing this game as a little guy in my grandparents sun room so many years ago. The soundtrack imprinted on my brain at such a young age, as when I popped this thing in and heard the music outside of the town, it was like being instantly shot back into time. Many other games come to mind, but I think this is an attribute that can take an average game and put it into an above average category. The Super Nintendo was infamous for it's vibrant sounds which made it seemed beyond it's 16-bit processor.. While this game is relatively short and lacking in the range of attacks and items found, it plays itself out well. Now it doesn't sit anywhere in the back of my mind like FF4 or FF6, but it left it's mark on my mind with it's great soundtrack. A (slightly) hidden little gem that I recommend to most side scroller-action RPG fans who love a good soundtrack. Talk to you'll later. |

If you like #3, you will love Books 1 and 2. If at all possible, get the Turbo Grafx CD version. The music will remain in your head for years and, for its time, I swear it was the greatest game ever.
