I'm playing Ramza as a Ninja with abandon(Increased Evasion) and I get attacked by a few chocobos. He gets attacked by all four of them and I looked at their hit percentages. The highest was 34%! And yet they were all able to hit him for 70+ Damage!W...T...F!!!I think the hit percentages are there for show. Whenever I get a 90% chance of hitting I'm almost GUARANTEED to miss!
What are the other players of FFT"s opinions? -------------------- Since I advertise CoN there I think it's only fair that I advertise The Wiki here. |

Are you really basing this off of anecdotal evidence like this? There are no known bugs with FFT's evasion statistics to my knowledge; by the rules of statistics, what happened with the Chocobos is pretty rare indeed, just under 1.5% chance if a) all four had 34% and

I agree with R51. That isn't even particularly rare. If you want to talk about bad statistics, when I was playing 7th Saga, I tried an action that had 30% success rate for an entire hour (approximately 120 attempts) and only succeeded three times. Now THAT is when you can complain about statistics being false. Something like what you mentioned isn't too terrible.

The gods of FFT Fates can be cruel: My Ramza, equipped with Blade Grasp (and 97 Brave), once died because 4 enemies hit him in a row. The odds of that happening are ridiculously low (.03 *.03 *.03 *.03=8.1 × 10-7). It's incredibly bad luck, not a glitch.

I tested it thouroughlly(100 hits) and found that that the hit percentage system is sound. Yet I still get the feel that it is somehow rigged in favour of the opposition. Maybe it's just because I tend to focus on the negative side of things.

Odds are always in your favor when it doesn't matter (e.g. getting a critical hit when the enemy would be finished off by basically anything), but when you really do need a dodge or a critical hit, they never seem to pull through. I think it's just that those moments stand out in our mind so we only recall NOT getting a dodge or crit, and weneglect the other majority of times when the odds are in our favor. So don't worry, you're not alone. ![]() -------------------- Is PJ |
