Hey guys, Orinocou here (again). Perhaps a few of you remember when I asked for your help a few months ago? Back then, I was drawing the scene where Terra first encounters Tritoch and reacts with him somehow... and needed help visualizing what actually happens in that part, because the details were a little sketchy in the video game.
Long story short, your ideas helped me a lot, and I am finally finished with that scene. The final decision I went with is as follows: When Vicks, Wedge, and Terra approach Tritoch, Possible spoilers: highlight to view The effects of the magic also neutralize the Slave Crown on Terra's head, so she becomes partly-conscious for a few moments. She approaches the esper and inadvertently creates a psychic-connection-thingie with him. The energy from this connection makes the Magitek armor go haywire, and it breaks down. The scene ends in a bunch of explosions.he uses his magic to kill the soldiers. I hope this is clear in the comic. Again, thanks for all your help, guys! I even put a link to the CoN on my front page. You can check it out here: The FF6c. Take care, now! -------------------- |

Looks good. Are you doing all the coloring in photoshop?
A few tiny gripes though. The soldier says 'Returner scum' to the Narshean guards even though Narshe is not in league with the Returners at this point. Also, Terra's hair looks too short and fly away in some of the scenes. Though her looks may change now that she is free of the slave crown. Also, if you added some eye lashes she'd look more femanine. Just some things to consider. Glad I was able to be of some help. If you need any more ideas just post and I will try to answer as best I can. |

You know, Frozen_Aura, it's funny that you should mention the "Returner Scum" thing. I had caught that mistake while I was making the page, but it was too late to go back and change the dialogue, so I left it be, thinking that no one would catch the error. Unfortunately, a couple of people have caught it... oh, well.
Terra's character design is a little different here than you'd regularly picture her. I made the choice for give her curly hair, for one thing. How long do you imagine her hair to be? Also, I think I'll keep that eyelashes idea in mind for next time I draw her. -------------------- |

You could chalk it up to that character's personal prejudices. Maybe he's a hardcore Imperial supporter and equates any resistance to the Empire with the Returners whether it's true or not. Great work on your comic so far though! Out of curiosity why did you give the narshe gaurds guns? when you fight them in the game they have a sickle or a claw like thing, but no guns, i dont think anyone has guns in the game. Also terra looks really......butch. The other thing i want to note is that you missed a line in the last one, it goes from her waking up to arvis tellin here thats amazing, she never said her name.
Good start though, might want to work on some of the non game daialog though so it isnt so corny. But still good start. -------------------- Don't fear the reaper! Quote Out of curiosity why did you give the narshe gaurds guns? In the Playstation's anthology version, there are some CG movies that you can access after beating the game once. In one of these movies is a scene with Narshean guards firing rifles at the m-tek armors as they storm the streets. This is not found in the SNES version. |

I had a couple other reasons, too: First, the game's intro mentions that gunpowder has been rediscovered, so I figure that means firearms. Second, the presence of those crazy magitek machines leads me to believe that the world's technology has reached (and surpassed) the invention of guns. Which totally doesn't make sense because none of the main characters get guns; they have to fight with swords and paintbrushes. Go figure. But I'm probably reading too much into it, dork that I am. I'm really surprised to hear that people think Terra looks butch. Maybe I should've given her hair on her upper lip to complete the image? ![]() -------------------- |

I'll admit my expectations weren't very high when I read that this was an "FF VI comic adaptation", but it actually looks very solid. Nice work. Terra does look a *little* on the mannish side, but it's not as bad as the previous posters implied. Just make her shoulders a bit more slender while keeping her figure and give her more ladylike lashes and lips - it looks very good right now, but those touches would probably create fewer "looks like a dude" comments.

The man-face issue so far as I can tell is just a problem with basic face construction. The features (eyes, nose, etc) tend to swim about the face from panel to panel, but are generally shown too high above the face, which is a more masculine feature. She also shows quite a bit of jaw, which is another trait more common in a male. Just in general, there's a lack of construction for the face, but the neck is spot on.

About the last panel, wasn't it the Narshe guards who came looking for Terra? It looks like imperials at the door. Or am I just confused?

I've seen so many fanart and read quiet a few comics like this to say that the art work doesn't really bother me about the comic (but I will admit that it could be improved on in a lot of ways). One of the best parts of most fanfics and comics that I've ever read is when they get down to the hard-core boss fights were they fight a monster that, in stories, are almost impossible to beat and the heroes almost can't beat them. And your comic just completely skipped the battle with the Whelk. Thats the only thing about this comic that ever really bothered me so far but thats just my opinion.

I considered including the battle with Whelk, but cut it out for several reasons: First, it didn't really advance the plot: I think the programmers made you fight Whelk just so you could get more familiar with the battle screen. Second, the Whelk scene would have come right after the part where the Magitek soldiers whale on the Narshe guards, so I felt that there was already an opportunity to show off the M-tek's sweet (hah!) moves. Finally, I gotta admit I was getting tired of drawing the M-tek machines, and was eager to get out of the mines and on with the story.
BanjotheClown: Locke is one of those characters who has had many changes in appearance. I chose to make him a brunette (what's the masculine form of that word?) because we're already going to have six blondes in the story. Count 'em! As for Locke having grey/white hair, I don't know where people get that idea. From the sprite? Strideo: They're imperials at the door. I'm going off of the SNES version, so things might be different for Anthology and Advance; I don't know. -------------------- |

I could see why people would think it was grey though. It's so pale. A lot of cosplayers wear grey wigs when cosplaying Locke.
In the Final Fantasy VI Technology Demo for SGI they went totally brown with Locke's hair so there is some official precedent for portraying him with brown hair. -------------------- The FF6*10 webring celebrates FF6's tenth anniversary with fanart (japanese). |

This is actually the first time I've seen this video all the way through. I've only ever seen screencaps. But yeah, you have a point. Locke has brown hair. Also, that he gets blasted back within the first 20 seconds of the fight is really comical to watch. Then again, I guess we shouldn't take the coloring of the characters in this video *too* seriously, because Terra there is sporting blonde hair. But whatever. And to be fair, yeah, I can understand how people can see grey hair in those pictures of Locke above. I guess it's sort of a "grey" area, pun intended. -------------------- |
