That's been driving me crazy for years. If there's a vocal pronunciation that I missed somewhere, please show the link.

Obviously there are spoilers here for anyone who hasn't played the game, but here's all the cutscenes from war of the lions. Go to 20:04 to hear Delita's pronunciation of Ramza Beoulve. Phonetically, it's more or less in line with how I've always pronounced it. Sounds like he puts a little more stress on the "ou" part than I do. I put the stress on the "Be" part.
Take that with a grain of salt. Voice actors don't always get it right. This post has been edited by ElPanachino on 7th May 2015 17:40 -------------------- Wha? Thanks to me? |

BAY-olv
Seems like the best way to spell it out. One of the coolest names ever for a FF character imho -------------------- X is blue. |

I'm probably the only person in the history of ever to pronounce it Bowl Va.
Like Vulva, but with a B. God, I've been calling him a twat subconsciously for almost 2 decades. -------------------- This is a webcomic and gaming blog where I rant about nonsense. Enjoy. I was a soldier, now I just play one in video games. |

Josh and I have been livestreaming some FFT (we took an end of summer break but will probably resume?), which has been my most substantial exposure to the game (since I am astoundingly bad at FFT). And my pronunciation, to Josh's chagrin, is:

I may have been canon-wrong with my "bee-UHLV" pronunciation, but at least I got chocobo correct from the start.

I always went with Bay-yoolv
This is a name that really went under my radar as a "contentious-open-to-interpretation-on-how-to-pronounce-it" name. It's certainly not "Cecil" or "Celes." -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |
