My favorite,is ff4.
I wasn't that impressed with ff6's battle theme, except for a few boss battle themes. My favorite boss battle themes in ff6,were:The atma weapon theme, grand finale and dancing mad. I also really really liked the crisis core boss themes quite a bit,as i found them to be better. I already thought fight on was a really good theme in the original ff7,and i continued to be impressed in crisis core when i actually had more and more themes i liked. FF9:I think the most memorable theme for me,was kuja's boss theme:Dark millenium. I also think that man with a machinegun is amazing,as is the boss theme for ff8. It is in fact:one of the few things i like about kiros ward and laguna loire. My ff4 themes that impressed me so much that they left an impression on my mind:the 4 fiends theme:Dreadful fight. Zeromus boss battle theme:Also extremely epic, and fitting of a boss theme. Regular fight music:I really really liked the ff4 regular battle theme more than the ff6 one or original ff7 one.Only one i would compare, are ff tactics and crisis core. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xMDoh4174Y&feature=related Regular boss theme:Extremely epic as well. You know that a boss fight is coming, and its time to get all serious. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. I am generally unimpressed by the basic battle themes.
FFVII is probably my favorite because it has an interesting-sounding track with relatively little melodic content but lots of rhythmic intensity--which is good for battles that are kinda mindless after a while but don't last long enough for a sense of musical momentum to establish itself. Honorable mention to Chrono Trigger, which has a similar basic battle theme--rhythm heavy, not much melodic content, but just a mood-keeper. On the other hand, the battle themes of, say, FFIV, FFV, and FFVI all seemed rather dull to me. It's like, they're all trying to get somewhere and be interesting, but there's just no time in those short random battles that you just wanna end as quickly as possible. Most of the games had some good battle music somewhere in there. I'd have to say for me the one with the best all around battle music was FF IX. It's regular battle theme was definately the most memorable and catchy to me with VI following up in second. IX also had some good boss music but almost all of the FF boss beats where good to me.

I personally loved the battle theme in FFIV more than ff6. Oh yeah:What about special mention of ff tactics? FF tactics has some pretty sweet tunes in there, including that one that appears in the intro. As for ff6:The regular battle theme didn't call my attention.I remember it,but it doesn't leave that much impression on me for some reason. I also prefer the crisis core version of those who fight on over the original one,or whatever its called. Its the boss theme that was in the original, but remixed. Also:I thought the regular fight theme remix in crisis core was also better. Quote Most of the games had some good battle music somewhere in there. I remember dark millenium, which i think is amazing, and the regular boss theme in ff9,which i thought was pretty good. I'm heavily biased towards Antidote (FFT), but if we're narrowing it down to main series only, I'd probably go with Battle 2 (FF4). It's like talking with your grandpa, and he says "In my day, we used to rock out like THIS!" -- and then he makes you remember why he was so cool and still is. Of course, if someone doesn't know how Battle 2 goes (my condolences!), here's a link:

My favorite is the one from final fantasy tactics called Apoplexy. The energy is amazing. It'll have you believe you're getting rid of minor pests or fighting the most dangerous battle of you life. It is AWESOME.

I have so many fond memories of that song. Yeah as i said. I love the boss music in almost all the games including this one. Here's the regular battle theme for IX for those of you who don't remember it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r50bTK49Gzc I'd like to note that the song was at it's prime when you entered a battle with some big A%$ mother heffer like the grand dragon and hearing it's roar as it appears with the start up of this music just gave you the feel of, "......uh oh" like it was going to be a crazy battle. Also, seeing as this song is only used in 3 battles and not just those battles exclusively, if, "You're not alone" counts as battle music then that's my favorite music of all time especially... Possible spoilers: highlight to view seeing as when they play this Zidane finds out he's suppost to help Gariland destroy Gaia and the song helps show the emotion of the moment very well Here it is for those who don't remember it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKAoSY5bhSw This post has been edited by TrueBOSS on 29th December 2011 01:18 -------------------- He's Back. I voted FFIV as well. As much as I like the length and variety of Battle 2 I thought the regular battle music is better because everything comes in after about 2 seconds, and that's really funny! It's the most uplifting of the lot in my opinion.

I voted Other[: FFT OST The Pervert]. It--and pretty much every other song in the game--is brilliant. It's such an evocative piece, and without fail, whenever I hear it, I'm right back fighting some twisted Lucavi.

Voted for FFVI's theme, it's not a bad theme and sits well with the technological themes of the game. To be honest though I much prefer some of the none-standard themes, especially the music during Laguna's battles in FF8 and the music played during most of the battles vs Jenova in FF7.

However, I think once I play it, I will love it. ...wait, Apoplexy is an FFT battle theme? Good point. Okay, that now tops my list. -------------------- current games (2024-02-19): Fairy Fencer F ADF Pokémon Perfect Crystal finished so far this year: Gato Roboto drowning, drowning New Super Mario Bros. Can i have more than 1? cause there are several which are extremely good:
Dark messenger:FF9 Zeromus boss theme:FF4 Dreadful fight:FF4 four fiends. Boss fight theme from ff4. Atma weapon theme:FF6 Dancing mad:FF6 controlling the beast:ff7 crisis core. The summoned:crisis core ff7 Verge of an assault:crisis core ff7 Encounter:Crisis core.EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIIIIIIIC ff8 boss theme Grand finale:FF6 boss theme for ultros. Man with a machinegun:ff8 I feel really really strong about these themes. In terms of final boss themes: Dark messenger vs dancing mad vs barthandalus theme vs orphan. I think that barthandalus final boss theme might be one of my top favorite final boss themes in final fantasy,no definitely. And i think that dark millenium is too good for kuja. I voted for FFIV cause I really liked zeromus' battle theme and the 4 fiends' theme.
However I also liked FFV's music especially the battle of the big bridge , every time I listen to that song it feels like I'm fighting gilgamesh. |

Final Fantasy Tactics has more battle tracks I'm into than I can count on my hands (and maybe my feet). I'm particularly fond of In Pursuit.

I don't know if it's because they're the games I've played the most in the series, or whether they're actually my favorites, but FF4 and FF6's boss themes are always the ones I find randomly stuck in my head. I have to split my vote between those two for that reason, though, as Galsic said, FFT's got a wide array of battle themes and they're all quite good.

There's something about FFVII that always gets me.. It's a constant buildup adding more layers until the second phase of the music is just intense, sometimes fitting the battle, sometimes not =p
