That goes to "General Squenix Gaming" section. If you want to post a thread concerning any of the games you mentioned, you should do it there. Having multiple forum sections for each game would turn the forums into a real mess, that's why there are forum sections only for Final Fantasy games covered by the site.

Quote (jackson @ 17th May 2008 10:36) no need to get stropy mate. I lol'd IRL ![]() But, since this isn't Fark, and no one ever posts comments that don't have meaningful and lasting points pertinent to the discussion at hand on this board, I'll elaborate. Jackson, I found your comeback to be quite humerous. In particular, use of the word "stropy". You crazy aussies! I think your idea has merit. It would actually eliminate, rather than create, clutter posts on the site. In particular, in the General Gaming forum. Creating boards here for other FF games would seperate and catalogue posts a great deal. I think that the site covering that particular game is irrelevant, as non-covered FF games are discussed anyway in various boards here. New forums dedicated to the other FF games would be beneficial to mods in terms of keeping forums clean and uncluttered, and would be extremely helpful to those posters seeking advice or discussion involving those games. That is the request that you've been getting for years. He was asking about forums to discuss those games, which from what I see is a pretty mild and somewhat unique request compared to the near-constant "ZOMZ why don't you cover FFX-II?!?!??" that you usually see. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

I don't think it would be a positive or necessary step to add those additional boards. The existing setup reflects exactly what the site covers, and if we changed the boards without changing the content of the main site, it would only encourage the annoying "lol wen u cover ffviii?" sorts of posts; that is, when the boards setup no longer reflects the site setup, people would wonder why we don't cover those games. Also, the main staff's principle retort of "we only have subforums for games we cover" would change into "we got tired of people asking so we added the extra forums but don't plan on adjusting the site in the near future." I like that first one better.

We've had this question over and over again too, which is why I assumed it was addressed along with the game coverage point in that sticky. It isn't - my mistake - although if you think that was "stropy", I strongly recommend you don't get on the wrong side of any of the other forum staff.
![]() The policy is exactly as Silver Zombie says, and it's unlikely to change. Why? The game forums exist to support the site content, not vice versa. I can tell you exactly what would happen if we opened forums that didn't have site content behind them from experience: they'd have even fewer posts than those for the most unpopular games we cover, regardless of their relative popularity, because we wouldn't have anything to draw people who are interested in those games to begin with. To make a significant case for cluttering up the board with extra forums, you'd have to point to a very significant number of posts specific to those games in the General Square Enix forum compared to games we already do cover. When launching FF7, we moved a bunch of pas FF7-related posts from there into the new FF7 forum, and the number really wasn't very significant. Extra forums don't create topics of discussion when there's a valid, more general home for them, and when there are small numbers of them in that home, and no direct site connection, there's no real sense in adding more forums.
