You know, I think I might actually give a serious response to this....
My favorite pokemon was alwayss Eevee. All five of its evolutions in Gold/Silver kick countless ass, and I basically stopped playing pokemon after I created my 5x-eon + Snorlax uberteam back in middle school. ****, I even remember the attacks for those six. And speaking of which, I am *somewhat* tempted to go back to pokemon every few months or so. For all of the heat they get for being such a phenomenon, they are some damn fun games. I stopped playing after Gold/Silver, but I've been tempted to check out the FireRed/LeafGreen duo for nostalgia purposes. The new DS pokemon that comes out in a few months has two new Eevee evolutions (grass-type and ice-type, IIRC), so I might be tempted to get those, too. Edit And yes, KK, Eevee is foxlike. And adorable. But that's irrelevant. Edit And by the way, my original really good team in Red was a Venusaur, Arcanine, Vaporeon, Dugtrio, Snorlax, and Zapdos. At least that's the team I remember using in link battles. This post has been edited by laszlow on 19th October 2006 19:25 -------------------- |

Ooooooooooh...I'm so replying to this
![]() Well there's two: For one, Gyarados, gotten early on, equipped with bite and bubblebeam (blue version). Powerhouse not to be taken lightly and beautiful to boot. The other is Raichu. Once Pikachu has gotten both quick attack and swift I evolve it to Raichu and stock on powerful electricity blows. Looks better than it's previous form, deals massive damage and has attacks that save my ass on a regular basis. Those two, along with Aerodactyl, Graveler, Haunter and Butterfree formed my winning team on my first playthrough. Unbeatable team ![]() -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. Pichu is sooo cute.
But I like mewtwo. But for pokemon I have it would have to be Charizard. He is just awesome, he can have some awesome moves and he looks cool. Nidoking is pretty awesome as well, i'd just use Thrash and BAM ______ Has fainted. Blastoise has always been my favorite. My entire team consists of him, Zapdos, Articuno, Golum, Vileplume, and Ditto. So those are my favorite 6, past the first 150 I feel they kind of got worse in terms of monster/pokemon design.

My favorite Pokemon is definately Arcanine! Don't know why, I guess basically because it's cuter and less-powerful form, Growlithe, can evolve into such a feirce Pokemon such as that is so cool...
My winning team in Silver was; Arcanine, Sandslash, Haunter, Beedrill, Gyarados, and Charizard -------------------- We, who cannot see into tomorrow, have no way of knowing... But... But... lol I remember these games. I too stopped at the silver/gold installation. My favorite was flareon - so pound to whoever threw that one down. My team ALWAYS had Venusaur Flareon Vaporeon Pikachu Dragonite and Golem in it. Not only awesome, but damn strong too.
And i thought the pokemon in gold.silver were pretty darn good. They looked a little more advanced than the originals (which was dumb because technically they should have been in the same world/time period) but were still unique and cool i thought. -------------------- |

Well I haven't really liked pokemon much since the origonal red and blue
(can you believe Gyarados is considered water/flying now?) well anyways may favorite pokemon will always be Charizard in the origonal red and blue when special defense and offense were the same stat, he could KO blastoise in two moves, while it would take blastoise three hydropumps to KO Charizard, another glitch that caused an unfair advantage to fire pokemon was that instead of having fire be weak to rock, they made rock weak to fire, and I believe ground as well. Not to mention even before I owned the game Charizard just looked awsome, and I thought charmander was pretty awsome too. close second is Gyarodos, the origonal the water/dragon. Edit Origonal Red dream team; Charizard, Gyarados, Electrabuzz, Gengar, Aerodactyl, Mew (yes mew, One of the few people to ever get him, actually caught him in the wild in the origonal red). The only generation of Pokémon I'm truly familiar with is the Red/Blue/Yellow generation.
My favorite pokémon is Bulbasaur. It was the first pokémon I chose, and I just kinda became attached to it. It evolves into a pretty powerful final-stage pokémon (Venusaur), but it retains this whole "humble cuteness" thing. And since bulbasaur is better known than its evolved forms, I've ended up referencing it in my main AIM screen-name (not the one you see on my profile here) as well as a temporary e-mail address on hotmail. My final pokémon team in Blue (the only one that I've played to completion so far) was: + fearow + graveler + pikachu + gyarados + kadabra +venusaur Levels were 48-52, which is why I was especially proud of myself when I beat the Elite Four (levels 52-62) and Gary (levels 59-65). Darn sudden jump in required levels made me try my luck over and over again, and one day I succeeded--and I was overjoyed. If only the cartridge hadn't mysteriously erased my file one night... And yeah, I know, it's not the best team ever; other people would probably have traded in order to get golem and kadabra, and would have evolved pikachu (which I refused to do in tribute to the show, which was then actually a really cool, as oppoesd to being just another lame animé), and would have replaced fearow with one of the legendary birds. But I had trouble getting them in the first place and I'd had fearow for a while and using fearow instead, based on seniority or whatever. But yeah, bulbasaur joins the list of particular characters in pop culture series that I associate myself with. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. My favorite is Sporetrode. In the Silver and Gold versions, when you could breed pokemon to have moves of the parents, I made a Voltorb that had Spore, and raised him to be godly. Seriously, combine a HUGE speed stat with the most accurate sleep-inducing spell and you get a pokemon that just owns. He had a gerat thunder element game, too, once they were asleep. I beat this kid's team of 6 Mewtwos with one Sporetrode. He's just too good.
I'd say my next favorite is Umbreon. He was never that great for me (compared to Sporetrode, who is?), but I always liked him anyways. He was just cool. -------------------- Is PJ |

i personally like a couple
Ninetails - it just looks so beautiful.....in the cartoon at least Zapdos - 'nuff said Pikachu - i catch a pikachu early on in blue/red so i can level it up. i never evolve it, i prefer Pikachu to Raichu Charmander - i ALWAYS choose him Pidgeotto - i stop it from evolving, i dont like pidgeot Nidoking - utter powerhouse the best thing is, most of them can be gotten early on -------------------- Aujourdhui a commence avec toi. |

Ah! the days of pokemon.
I like Primeape, mostly becouse Journey to the wes twas my favorite story, and becouse he was way ahead of the rest in my party (In red version). My red team best was. Venasuar - strong, high stats, looks badass. Primeape - hell yeah!. Gyarados - He can swim and fly can't argue. Venomoth - Very stong and useful attacks. Marowak - High attack and defense and has the most unique move set. Pedgeot - well... it's a bird... And in silver. Typhlosion - was pretty much my best pokemon. Crobat - overall good against ever type. Scizor - looks cool and good for catching pokemon. Poliwrath - always need a water type. Exeggutor - grass and only psychic i ever used. Nidoking - pure power. I wonder if any of new the games are good. Also Cloud_Strife510, what do you mean you FOUND a mew in red? i thought that wasn't possible. Sure i have one silver (got it from some guy) but how did you get it? i never heard of such a thing?. -------------------- "You know that feeling you get when you're on a merry go 'round, and you want to jump off to make the spinning stop, but you know it'll suck when you land? Wow. I really have to think about this.
*Thinks* Probably Vaporeon. On Fire Red I got him loads of Protein and Iron and stuff, he's practically invincible. By the time he reaches level 100, he'll have over 400HP! (averaging) Just looking through this thread made me stick the Red cartridge in my Game Boy Player. ![]() |

I 5th the pikachu > raichu inequality. In the games that I had a pikachu, i always kept it as a pikachu. In the silver/gold versions I liked the metal scyther, and the dragonite equivalent (a big green rock dragon). Also, the three legendary dogs and the first three you get to pick from are all awesome. I preferred the fire one, it looked the coolest, then the plant type, and then the water one. I also loved the espeon/umbreon evolutions of eevee. Basically, anything to do with Eevee is sweet. I also liked the hitmontop. He was cool, but hard to acquire.

Quote Also Cloud_Strife510, what do you mean you FOUND a mew in red? i thought that wasn't possible. Sure i have one silver (got it from some guy) but how did you get it? i never heard of such a thing?. The grass to the west of cerulean city is a magical place. With a Game Genie you can catch any of the origonal 1-151 pokemon no matter what version, right there. Mew actually takes skill to catch if you let him get the first move it's over., which is safe to say 90% of the time will be transform. if you let that happen It'll be a ditto. the code for mew is in red and blue versions so you can use a game genie to catch it. Mew was also given away at certain nintendo events, but I never went to one of those. There's also a wierd bug which I believe involves the area Cloud mentioned which allows you to capture Mew, unless that's indeed what he's saying.
