well there isn't too much to say but i was just wondering if/what anyone knows about the last remnant, a game that squareenix is working on. i visit their site from time to time, and i saw the teaser site there. ive read a couple things, like that it uses unreal engine, but not much else. it looks like it has potential.

It's nice to see Squarenix trying to foray into some new franchises. I just hope they put more work into than they did Drakengard. Okay game but it wasn't about to set off a firestorm of sequels, and never did.
Personally some of their neglected franchises need to be revisited, though *coughChronotriggercough*. Heck, don't they currently own the rights to Ogre Battle right now, too? What I wouldn't give for another one of those. From Gamespy: "Designed to give you control over large-scale battles, The Last Remnant's combat system begins just like any other role-playing game with you issuing commands to your largish party (it looked initially like the party was comprised of five members). The twist comes once the action begins to play out; where previously you would simply watch your party members run through their attack instructions, you'll now have to watch closely and input specific button patterns to ensure maximum effect on your attacks. It's similar to that old SNES chestnut Super Mario RPG or, to use a more recent example, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, where carefully timed button presses increase the potency of each strike. In the middle of the fight, however, the camera sweeps wildly, panning to highlight each character in turn and shifting to slow motion to give you enough time to react to the random button prompts." Ooh, I just love those types of games! It makes random encounters FUN. Full Preview |

Edit idk if this is considered a double post, since this they are a month apart, but if it is i apologize. i just got an ign.com email about the last remnant, for anyone who cares, and reading the article i got that tingly feeling down my spine. the plot, which starts out with a simple kidnapping and escalates, sounds amazing (in video games, the plot is my favorite part!!) a lot of squeenix vets have signed on to the project too. they are going for a turn based battle system, but one that will be like an actual battlefield. also, there will be more involvement, where a pop-up button may show up while a certain move is being completed, and if you press that button then your character will do extra. im very excited, and here is the link. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/800/800900p1.html -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! When I heard that one of the features was something like that it had two characters that you could choose between, one that was "more for Japanese audiences," and the other "more for Western audiences," I didn't know whether to laugh or be interested...

Yarg! And Nintendo gets ignored again! I know, I know, the whole graphics issue, but still.. Grr...
The game sounds interesting, but what's with this "One playable charecter" thing? Did I miss something? Because a five player party vrs...One playable charecter? I could only read off the second link, so... At any rate, the gameplay sounds extremely tantilizing. I loved Seven Stars, especially for the involving way the battles were played, so this seems like a dream come true. Finally, the Conqueror? Totally his dad. I can see that one a mile away. -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

I remember the story on GI magazine. The game sounds promising and it looks amazing. SquareEnix is using Unreal engine for this one. The town that was shown in the magazine reminded me of Rabanastre from FF XII.
The game suposedly has two main characters, the one we will start with and later on a six or four armed Cat-Man creature who wield swords n all of his hands. The battles look massive and they seemed like they are going to be a lot of fun. "The Last Remnant", the name makes you think you know. Years ago Square released their "Final Fantasy", now they are releasing their "Last Remnant"... -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |
