I need help getting the other three! I've done waht the FFVI FAQ has said, but that only help me get one. Does Shadow's dreams still come if I have both Shadow and Relm in the same group or do I need to get rid of Relm and keep Shadow to get his other three dreams?

If you already have Relm and Shadow at the same time, then you must be in the WoR, which means you missed your chance to see the dreams. You should have tried to see them in Kholingen or Thamasa (before the innkeeper changes his price to 1 gp. By the way, even if you sleep in these place with Shadow in your party you won't necessarily get a dream sequence every time, so just keep paying the innkeeper until you get all 4 (the fifth one is automatic when you find Shadow in the WoR. Hope this helps.

No. You can see them in the WoR, in any inn; I did, so I know it works. You will have already seen the fifth dream by then though, so the order isn't quite right. The same instructions for the first dream really do work for the others; it's just a case of being very patient, since they're a rare occurence. |

It really doesn't matter where you are, as long as you're in a bed and you're sleeping to regain HP/MP. World of Balance or World of Ruin, the dreams will (eventually) show up in both of them. You can continuously try the same Inn over and over, since it will randomise.

Oops, I was wrong, sorry if I mislead you, but I always get the dream sequences in the WoB.

Shadow has 5 dreams. One you see automaticaly when you save him in the WoR. The other 4 can be seen at anytime (WoR or WoB) by sleeping in any Inn with Shadow in your party. It's random though, so you don't always see a dream; just keep repaying the innkeeper to sleep if you don't see it. Relm also has a dream. You can only see Relm's dream when you save her from the Veldt Cave in the WoR, which only happens if leave Shadow at the end of the WoB. Therefore, it is not possible to see every dream in one play through.
If you are looking for the exact descriptions and dialogues of Shadow's five dreams then go to the last link that Mr. Thou. Caution: no spoiler tags were used in the post. I've never been cold enough to leave Shadow behind, so I'm wondering if anyone could please post a description of the dream Relm has when you save her in the Veldt Cave. |

It's really no big deal. Relm and Strago are in their house, and while Relm takes a few slow paces and then crouches on the ground, she'll say something like "Where's daddy? Is he ever coming back?" Strago won't reply, but will stare at the ground.

Ah, ok. Is it true that the dreams do not affect Shadow's ending? And on another note,
Possible spoilers: highlight to view What is going on in Shadow's ending? Is he trying to kill himself by staying on the tower while it collapses or is he trying to sneak out after the others leave? |

There's no effect.
Now onto the end: Possible spoilers: highlight to view It's like this: the Japanese version had him commit suicide. However, this did not sit well with the Americans. Ted Woolsye was told to change the lines so he would NOT commit suicide. The result is the confusing scene you see now: You see Shadow crawl in a corner of a collapsing tower (one of the more succesfull ways of killing yourself known to man), while saying that he's going to start all over again. It makes no sense, I know. Same goes for scenes like Celes' Leap Of Joy (yeah, right) and Edgar asking Relm how old she is. In the American version he gets all "My childhood sucked" while the Japanese Edgar is telling himself that ten years (Relm's age) is too young. -------------------- |

Quote (Wind God Gau @ 8th June 2004 15:14) Woolsey = n00b. Get a re-transed ROM. Know the truth. Viva la Terra. That was entirely random. And it reminds me of something brought up in chat. [09:51:46] <Tiddles> The FF6 retranslation actually brings up some interesting things, particularly with the idea that the characterisation was so much better in 6. [09:52:17] <Tiddles> The general impression seems to be that much of the characters' uniqueness was pure Woolsey elaboration. [09:52:20] <DarkPaladin> Well, ALL of the characters were lacking in their own wys, but who in particular [09:52:22] <DarkPaladin> *? [09:52:39] <DarkPaladin> *ways [09:52:53] <Tiddles> I haven't played enough of it to say, but I've read quite a few comments like that. [09:53:15] <Tiddles> Like a lot of Woolsey-bashers are now saying "...Oh. Well, his version wasn't so bad, eh?" [09:53:28] <DarkPaladin> Heh [09:54:03] <R51[working]> IMO, most Woolsey-bashers are the kids who try to teach themselves Japanese from anime and then think they have the right to judge. [09:54:18] <R51[working]> Maybe he was good, maybe he wasn't, but the results are what they are so just shut the [R51 said a bad word] up. [09:54:32] <GregtheEgg> I like Woosley's translations. They're funny, for one thing. [09:54:38] <Tiddles> Have you ever seen one of those Anime fansubs where they say something like, I dunno... "Let's all have some more cukiyayayaki!* *This is a type of biscuit!" [09:54:50] <R51[working]> Heh, the Chobits subs I have have that. [09:54:53] <Tiddles> I hate that kind of crap. That's when you know a translation is being far too literal. [09:55:04] <Tiddles> That's not even a translation IMO. [09:55:19] <Tiddles> You HAVE to localise somewhat, like it or not. [09:55:49] <Tiddles> It's much more true to the original not to be literal in the case where the literal meaning will just be lost, or you'll break the flow by having to explain it. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

No, his post was totally in reference to the fact that the dreams make less sense in their official translation.
