For a long time I've always been intrigued by the mysterious back story under the character Shadow. I've seen the four dreams, and I've tried to put it together in my head.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view From what I gather, Shadow used to called Baram, and had a partner in crime named Clyde. They traveled the world doing different heists (seen in Dream 2 where they have just stolen a million GP in a train robbery). Something happens in their quests and Clyde is terribly wounded to the point that he wants Baram (Shadow) to kill him, but Shadow refuses. The part I'm unsure of is towards the end(the last dream) where Shadow is in Thamasa looking very confused wondering where he is. Interceptor is running around (which I believe in some part of the plot is why he gets along well with Relm since she has lived in Thamasa her whole life). And while many of you'll may know this, I was wondering if anyone could put this into a better context. If someone could flatten out the story for me or maybe clue me in to things I either haven't seen, considered or forgotten.. ![]() This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 12th September 2003 18:52 |

Possible spoilers: highlight to view although i am no expert on shadow lore, i can tell you exactly why interceptor likes relm and why shadow is seen in thamasa... shadow is indeed relm's father. every wonder why only the two of them can use the "memento ring" relic, a token from relm's deceased mother? Uh, guys, these are some pretty big spoilers...
![]() Moderator Edit Agreed. Spoilers are pretty easy to use now, start using them, please. We wouldn't want to start issuing warnings for not spoilering out things. Rule of thumb, if it would have spoiled the game for you when you first started playing, mark it. My apologies, I'm new to the forum and didn't notice the spoiler option. I'll remember this in the future.

This reply has a part of the ending, so if you haven't beaten it, just read the top part.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view I'm pretty sure Shadow is actually Clyde, and his partner was Baram. In the end, Shadow says something along the lines of: *End of the game spoiler* "Baram! I'm going to stop running. I'm going to begin all over again..." And in conclusion to the final dream where he's running out of Thamasa, it's largely your interpretation of what you think it means, but here's what I think. I think Clyde (Shadow) ran out of Thamasa because he is ashamed that he left his partner dying, did not fulfill his best friend's final request, and is running away from his problems and never coming to terms with himself or his past. Possible spoilers: highlight to view of course shadow is actually clyde...there's no question about that. the simple fact that every dream sequence involves clyde and baram and that baram dies should tell you something...what, was shadow some sort of omniscient 3rd-party viewer? unlikely ![]() |

Possible spoilers: highlight to view If you bothered to read the very first post, you would have noticed that he thought Shadow was Baram. I was doing what he wished, and clarifying anything he may want to know, being that Shadow is Clyde, not Baram. And I know full well that Shadow is Relm's father. Your decidedly insulting approach in forming a response is largely unappreciated. |

I believe it was the first dream that I had mixed up the names of the two. I don't remember the entirety of it, but it had to do with Clyde bleeding and I think it was Baram on the ground in darkness. I formed a false impression through the dialogue, so thanks for clarifying.
I don't understand what I said that was insulting, referring to what TheEvilEye said, so my bad for whatever insulted you. |
