I had that song on my Myspace page for a while. Powerglove definitely have a firm grip on video-game metal. It's solid musically and certainly an interesting spin on the original. I like how they included the fade-in sound-effect at the beginning.

While enjoyable; I still prefer the smoother sound of the Black Mages...

As well, it feels like the only major change was the tempo; pushing it as fast as it is certainly has a durastic effect and overshadows pretty much everything else he's done to change the song. It doesn't have the same overarching melody that The Black Mages managed, but rather drops the beat at odd times...

I completely agree. A song that should definately be checked out by the Black Mages is Dancing Mad. The guitar during the Kefka battle are so awesome.

I'd have to say as well that at certain parts it does push the tempo a little bit, but hey, whatever, it's different. There are some parts of the song that I feel take away slightly, at the part of the song (0:33 in this version) where it originally would chill down with the bassline, organ reentering with an almost lyrical melody. Breaks like that help give the song (and the battle) that sort of tension and seriousness. What Powerglove does at other parts of the track with the melody, though very metal, also take away a bit of the theatrics the song was made for.

That being said, this is very awesome. The drumming is very tight and the guitars are very amazing, and it's so Helloween that it's mindboggeling.. I'm upset however that these guys stole my idea :*(

The original track is Decisive Battle, the ordinary boss theme, which you should have heard about two dozen times by that point in the game wink.gif .

And I got a kick out of this metal version, too.

very nice smile.gif i really enjoy their version of the tetris theme. the decisive battle is freakin sweet, easily comparable to the black mages!
