I've been wondering what everyone else uses in this game and how it compares to my own. Please no special parties like Genji Stealing parties, just the party you use when you just feel like dropping down infront of the tv and burnning some time. This is your fun team, the one that is not all Math Skill, and no challenge.

Just a note: From the last eight or nine files on, I've started the game with only Ramza and two generics, and I never add anymore. It may seem like a challenge or something (and often is), but it's only because I want to make room for Agrias and Mustadio without wasting space in the 16-slot army with a generic I've put hours into.

I love the job class, but because of this, I am always changing my generics and not usually using my specials in any set group. On the other hand, monsters rock; when I want a challenge and some good ol' monster-mashing, nothing's better than my Beastmaster group:
Beastmaster Ramza Job: Chemist Action: Item (Throw-Item Inherent) Action: Talk Skill or Guts Reaction: Auto-Potion Support: Monster Skill Movement: Move -- HP Up Weapon: Guns (doesn't matter which) The Usual Beasts: Sol: Red Chocobo Dark Wind: Vampire Gold Wind: Yellow Chocobo Tempest: Tiamat Reserve Beasts: Venom: Great Morbol KaBoom!: Explosive Coldstone: Cocatoris Mr. McOink: Wildbow Black Wing: Black Chocobo Whisper: Revenant Shiver: Living Bone I also like having Mustadio and Agrias, in their regular class with only items as a sub job, go into random battles, just the two of them. Mustadio Snipes from afar, while Agrias Holy Swords the enemies that get close. Even with just the two of them, they make a powerful, and fun, team. I'm sure this topic has come up a multitude of times, but I am curious to know everyone's favorite party setups; I don't use wacky leveling techniques, but try to design rockinawesome teams with fun and variety. Here's one of my personal favorites, recently completed with a ton of work put in to it. All the command abilities are maxed out, and I didn't use any cheats or glitches, not even to get more Chihirijiradens or Masamunes (but I sometimes reset if I decide to use one and it breaks).
Ramza: Squire, Brave 97 Faith 24 Rune Blade Aegis Shield Flash Hat Robe of Lords Genji Glove Guts Draw Out Blade Grasp Magic Attack Up Move +3 Orlandu: Holy Swordsman, Brave 97 Faith 31 Excalibur (Initially equipped) Escutcheon (Gold) Thief Hat Genji Armor Bracer All Swordskill Punch Art Counter/Hamedo Attack Up Move +3 Reis: Dragoner, Brave 97 Faith 92 Rune Blade Rune Blade Ribbon <nothing> Setiemson Dragoner Math Skill/Summon Magic MP Switch Equip Sword/MA UP/Short Charge Move-MP Up Cloud: Soldier, Brave 97 Faith 21 Materia Blade <nothing> Thief Hat Secret Clothes Sprint Shoes Limit Throw Dragon Spirit Short Charge Move +3 Beowulf: Temple Knight, Brave 97 Faith 75 Chaos Blade Excalibur Grand Helm Maximilian Bracer Magic Sword Battle Skill Blade Grasp Two Swords Move +3 Ramza's really balanced, as this setup has his special squire class with its great stats and nifty abilities coupled with my favorite secondary, Draw Out. He's designed to be a spellcaster, with his equipment adding +5 to his Magic power; Murasame, Muramasa, and Kikuichimoji RULE with this setup. Orlandu's his usual ass-kicking self, and he has Punch Art as his secondary for more power and versatility. Reis is the best Math Skiller in the game, but if I want to have fun and not obliterate the enemy I'll have her movie in and use Dragon attacks or give her Summon Magic . Her equips and skills really depend on what secondary skill you give her. Dragoner has the best stats of any character in the game, and even comes with built-in Monster Talk and Two Swords. Cloud is a a fun character, with equipment designed to build up his pitiful speed, dashing about the map using Short Charge to his advantage; Finish Touch and Climhazzard rock all over the place. Beowulf is a stat-breaking, status-inflicting machine, with enormous HP to boot. He's strictly a frontliner, and he has the best HP-boosting equipment in the game to last a long time. Agrias is a support Knight or being Extremely defensive, but don't even try hurting her physically, she will kill you right away draining up all what's still alive in you. Magic is pretty useless against her, so with all this I think it means goobye for ya. Reis, having Gained the mighty power of lightning and able to summon death uppon her opponents is almost defenitely unbeatable. As soon as she can, she will cast hundrerds of bolts of lightning theorically bringing you to a fast and painfully death. sure but I dissmissed Medialoul coz I didn't know what to do with her.. she is useful in human battle but the rest of the time? Against monster she is a hitter. But yes you can also skip her job to make her a simple knight or a wizzard why not, with a cute sprite.

I've been experimenting with new setups for Beowulf, Orlandu, Reis, Agrias, and Meliadoul, and I think I've found a Beowulf setup that rocks hard enough to replace my ninja medic and a few other tweaks to rock decently well.
Everyone - Raise Faith to a level around 70 unless specified elsewhere. For Ramza - Replace the Excalibur with a Rune Blade. I don't believe in using the weapon cheat, he can haste himself with the Masamune, and I've found a better use for Excalibur. Plus, it's pretty awesome having Ramza use Draw Out with a magic power of 21. For Orlandu - I've found that Math Skill/Summon is more than enough healing for this party so replace Item with Punch Art and Damage Split with Counter so he is slightly more versatile. Also, he doesn't need much armor help, so replace the Grand Helm and Maximilian with a Thief Hat and Genji Armor. For Reis - Math Skill is too annoying and makes the game way too cheap, so I've decided to replace Math Skill with Summon Magic, Equip Sword with Short Charge, and in turn replace the dual Rune Blades (sob...) with an H bag. So her magic power goes from 31 to 27, but I can deal. Keep faith around 90. For Cloud - Replace Item with Throw. Murasame and Fairy get the job done. Beowulf: Temple Knight, Brave 97 Faith 75 Chaos Blade Excalibur Grand Helm Maximilian Bracer Magic Sword Battle Skill Blade Grasp Two Swords Move +3 This guy is made for two things - status attacks and stat breaks. He can cripple the enemy in so many ways it isn't funny, his only problem is a high faith with no shield to help his magic evade, so be sure to back him up. this is the party that i beat the game with. my party now is basically pending since im mastering every skill and they're all different jobs, but this is one tough party that i seriously whooped with.

For a while, my standard party was what I affectionately titled, "the Death Squad."
Ramza, Cid, Beowulf and Cloud. From the enemy standpoint, it was pretty ugly. I know it was a bit cheezy on my part, so I decided to make an improvement my second time around beating the game. My standard party now? Ramza. Period. I don't even BRING anyone else. EVER. Just Ramza. Brave 97 Faith 97 Squire Equipment Excalibur Escutcheon II Grand Helmet Maximillian Genji Gauntlet Abilities Guts (Completely mastered... Ultima included of course) Math Skill (All calculable magic learned) Blade Grasp (We ALL know what this does... Especially with good equipment and 97 Brave) MagicAtk Up Move +3 ____________________________________ All of these things together make Ramza the most powerful being in existence. I choose Excalibur over the Chaos Blade for various reasons, with the most important being the auto-haste. I don't know if it is a glitch, or simply something mathematic, but the CT of EVERYONE except auto-hasted Ramza is divisible by 3 ((The only exception I have seen to this was a level 96 Ninja)). He automatically gets the first turn with the auto-haste, and if everyone is divisible by three, Excalibur ABSORBS Holy (in case some lucky camper survives and you don't want to have to care whether you calculate something that hits Ramza or not), Ramza's the only one in the fight, MagicAtk Up is equipped, AND Holy is the most damaging spell in the game, it makes for some extremely quick battles. If Cid, Beowulf and all 13 of my other characters teamed up against my current Ramza, they would all lose. And on the first turn, I might add. If you wish to do more than beat the game, but rather dominate it to the point where it must call you 'God,' this is what you need. |
