Disclaimer: I was gonna put this is General Gaming but then thought "well EVERYONE'S going to list FFs no matter what, so Square will be there no matter what". But of course the adminies are free to move it if they disagree. ^^
Anyway, this was originally going to be a way to find out what FF games you owned but I decided to expand it out of nosey-ness. So list what RPGs you own and/or really wanna get. And please feel free to comment your brains out! Note about ROMs: As with almost all RPGs that are pre-PS1 they were never released in England and by the time I even knew what an RPG was (1998) it was waaay too late to start thinking of imports. So that goes far all NES/SNES games you see with ROM near them or they may never have been released in the west at all. I would rather own them on a system truthfully…but Hey-ho. Uh… I’m kinda’ a hardcore RPGer these days, so my list is kinda…long. But here goes. Feel free to skip it ‘all’. ^^ NES Final Fantasy (ROM): I downloaded this soon after I got FF Anthology and I really like it despite its age. I can really see why this game helped save Square all those years ago. Final Fantasy III (ROM): I put off downloading this when Origins was announced, but it was cancelled from the package…I really really wish this game had been in Origins…it is one of the best FFs of all time. The Battle of Olympus: It’s this ‘action style’ RPG type that they’d release in the UK. No other type…It’s due to games like this that RPGs never got a look in here! It’s long…and boring…and pointlessly hard. Gargoyles Quest II: Another action based RPG, only this one is ‘slightly’ more tolerable than the above. I loved the lavish bosses and smooth game play. Swords and Serpents: Oh Jesus no…just…no… If I’d known this was an RPG back then I’d have never got another. SNES (Finally some good stuff) Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (ROM): This was the only FF released in England pre-FF7. I never got it then, and was reluctant to get the ROM. Man…this game is so bad… I…uh…got it anyway you understand. ![]() Chrono Trigger (ROM): I really wish this had gotten a UK release. I think this may be one of the best games of all time! Live-a-Live (ROM): I recommend this game! It is a Square game that is ‘very’ underrated. While it’s not as good as FF it does have its own irrefutable charm. It takes some getting into, but as long as you start on either the Caveman or Mecha Chapter you’ll do fine. ![]() Bahamut Lagoon (ROM): For statuary RPGers this is a good game. The story is kinda’ odd and as with the FFT series the hero ends up getting the short end of the stick…but hey, Bahamut’s in it! Super Mario RPG (ROM): When I finally managed to find this I’d heard it was pretty tough. You know, I never died once. oO I guess the idea of ‘tough’ has changed over time. Good game though. Tales of Phantasia (ROM): This game has my favourite character of all time; Arche. I ![]() Star Ocean (ROM): Anyone who has this on a ROM knows what murder it is to get to work right! But it’s worth it. Star Trek spoofs away! *Giggle* Breath of Fire (ROM): I got this after BoF2. It's not all that great, it just seems a little bland to me is all! Breath of Fire II (ROM): The best BoF game if you ask me! Katt is 'the' best BoF character to date. The story is good too, gotta love evil gods. Terranigma (ROM): Another action RPG. This one is okay. It has a nice twist, but overall I found it rather weak (save the skateboard boy’s theme tune). EVO Search for Eden (ROM): Okay, so in this ‘action style’ RPG you start as a fish and have to evolve into greater life forms to survive. When you level up you get to improve parts of yourself but other parts will weaken (more speed, less defence etc.). It’s okay… pretty original. Zelda: A Link to the Past: I didn’t know this was an RPG at all for many years. ![]() Tenchi Muyo (ROM): I am admittedly a fan of the Anime series so getting to play as Ryoko and friends was great. But this game is poor over-all and pathetically short for an RPG even of this time. Sailormoon: Another Story (ROM): I’ve never seen Sailmoon the TV series, but this includes a whole new story to follow the first two or three series with characters stolen from time to fight the girls…or, uh, something. Anyway, it’s not great. Dragon Ball Z: Legend of the Super Saiyen (ROM): I don’t like DBZ and I don’t like this game…why’d I get it? I got it on an RPG hunt I was on for Anime-based games. That is all. GBA (I only wanted the two games) Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (ROM): I can’t use handhelds…they give me a splitting headache, so I ROM’d it. Sorry Square! Anyway, it’s an okay game…but should it hold an FF tital? I wonder… Tactics Ogre (ROM): THIS is what FFTA ‘should’ have been. If you liked FFTs system and more over its ‘story’ get ‘this’ game, you won’t regret it. Trust the Squirrel! PS1 (Is anyone still reading this?) Final Fantasy: The Origins one. Hooray! I really like this game, simple though it is, it’s so fluid now! Final Fantasy II: There third wheel to the FF bike, this is by far the worst the FF main series has to offer. Ouch, Square. Final Fantasy IV: Although the controls are still a bit rickety and rough around the edges FF4 offered up some of the most memorable battles in my RPG history (Which as you can tell is loooong). Final Fantasy V: Taking from the job system of FF3 and improving on it, FFV manages to pull off a unique feel which people either love or hate. I have to say it still needs work, but it’s good. Plus the story and music more than makes up for any small flaws. Final Fantasy VI: Learning from all its past FF games VI managed to take the very best from all. Totally awesome tunes, indepth story, great twists, and characters so well thought out people actually argue over who the lead is. A great close to the SNES series (Not that I have it on the SNES, but still). Final Fantasy VII: My first ‘real’ RPG. Even though I’d played a few before I never knew what they were until now. In England FFVII was the floodgate that allowed RPGs to finally grace our shores, and a fine this too. Final Fantasy VIII: Although a drop down from the previous two games, I didn’t hate VIII. It had great music, good place designs, a perfect end boss battle and a stunningly long fully FMV’d ending making it all worth it in the end. Final Fantasy IX: Both a step up and a step down, I have truly mixed feelings on this game. It obviously takes from FFIV’s system more than any other and the monsters are pretty sweet, but there’s something…missing. Final Fantasy Tactics (Import): One of the two games I got an import PS1 for, and glad I did! It seems to take from the classic ‘V’ job system, but this time I know what’s missing! Bare! They needed a default class to earn bonuses from Mastery of other jobs, otherwise mastery seems a bit dry. Chrono Cross (Import): The other reason for getting the import PS1. When push comes to shove I do like this game, but it is no Chrono Trigger. No sirrie. Koudelka: This is an odd little horror-RPG. I like the monsters and the FMVs are pretty. Plus there’s lottsa’ gore and the main boss is a naked chick with a snapped spine. But that’s as far as it goes, unfortunately. Vagrant Story: Bah! I’d hoped for more. I never even got around to completing this poor excuse for a game… PS2 (My hand hurts…) Final Fantasy X: After VII and IX this was a definite improvement. I really liked the characters and story. Also the new look was not to be sneered at. Final Fantasy X-2: Oh dear…I mean really, what a total shame. A sexist sham at that! They tore the job system to shreds too… Star Ocean Till the End of Time: I just got this!! I actually quite like it. I mean, it’s not fantastic, but it sure is long! And has a groovy twist. (Completed it last night, total of just over 1 week to complete) Disgaea: Hour of Darkness: Heh heh, one of my favourite RPGs of all time. Characters, story, and music were all too sexellent. Kingdom Hearts: I enjoyed this a lot. But it was flawed…the FF cast never shoulda’ been there, and the end boss was just so…Sephiroth… Speaking of Sephiroth, I really enjoyed thrashing him too. ![]() Summoner 2: Someone got it for me. Hmmm…not really my kinda’ game, but it was playable. Okay for an action RPG. Although I prolly missed some lesser ones, I’m guessing everyone stopped reading before the end of NES games anyway. ^-^ This post has been edited by Mu the Squirrel on 29th October 2004 00:59 -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |

Whoa, Mu! You have a large collection! Here's mine:
NES: Final Fantasy 1(ROM)- Great game. Play it. Recommended. Final Fantasy 2(ROM)- Not as good as the first, but give it a try. Recommended. Final Fantasy 3(ROM)- Read the above. Recommended. SNES: Final Fantasy 4(ROM HARD VERSION)- This game is also pretty good. Semi-Recommended. Final Fantasy 5(ROM)- I don't know about this one. The story wasn't that great, but the job system was extarordinary. I would recommed playing this one after playing everything you wanted to. Recommended. Final Fantasy 6- Here's the good stuff. Many here are fans of FF6 so I won't list all the good points of this great game.Highest recommendation. Chrono Trigger- YAY! My very first RPG that I first played when I was 6. It is my favorite one also, but I think that from a neutral standpoint (that great FF6/CT debate is still going on) they are both equal. Well, what are you waiting for? Go out and get this great game now! Highest recommendation. Tales of Phantasia(ROM)- Well, I only got through part of this game due to translation troubles, but from what I've played this is a great game. I just wonder why it wasn't released here in the states? Highly Recommended. Star Ocean(ROM)- You may experience technical difficulties in getting this one to work, but as Mu said, it is worth every single one. The simple story reeks of Star Trek. The battle system, simply put, is top notch. So is gameplay. What would you expect from Tri-Ace anyways? They were all about game... Highly Recommended. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past- Outstanding. I love this game, and it is my favorite Zelda game, above even Ocarina of Time! If you haven't played this game, get out from under that rock and play it! Highest Recommendation. PLAYSTATION Final Fantasy 7- Greatness. I think that this was the best FF for the PS and this was also my first, although I liked 6 better. I would say it is the third best FF. Highly recommended. Final Fantasy 8- I thought that this one was a disaster except for the music. I hated this game so much because of its story, battle engine, characters, etc. I could just list all the things wrong with this but I won't. I recommend against this game. Final Fantasy 9- Same reason as the previous FF. Again, I recommend against this game. Final Fantasy Anthology- Ehh, it was ok. I liked roms and my ol' cartridges better. If you have neither though, then get this. Just watch out for loading times- they can be horrific. Semi-Recommended. Final Fantasy Chronicles- Like I said above. Just watch out for loading times. Semi-Recommended. Xenogears- Now we're getting into the real stuff the PS has to offer... One word describes Xenogears: Genius. Listing all the stuff this baby has to offer would take waaay to long. My second favorite rpg after ff6/ct. However, if you're religious, be warned, because this game deals heavily with religion, Christianity in particular. Also, don't play this game if you can't stand watching cutscenes. Otherwise, Highest Recommendation. Chrono Cross- This one was a let down after CT. That's all I have to say. Inferior to it's predecessor. I recommend against this game. Star Ocean: The Second Story- Star Ocean is back, and it's better than ever! One of the few sequels that I think was better than it's predecessor. Outstanding battle system and gameplay (think Star Ocean improved) easily overshadow a weak plot (characteristic of Tri-Ace games). However, the graphical style is, well... a bit odd, but that can be overlooked. And remember, ITEM CREATION RULES! Highly Recommended. Lunar:SSSC- This game, surprisingly, is pretty good despite being an early 90s RPG not made by Square. The strongest point about this game is character development. Xenogears/Saga had excellent character development, but this one beats both. However, this is a short game, and it may not be for those graphics lovers. The music is catchy. Recommended. Final Fantasy Tactics- While not an rpg in the style of FF, I would say that this game is the second greatest FF of all time. The plot, which can drag during the first part, is executed beautifully. Also, the characters is this game are the most human in an FF game. I also liked the strategy aspect of the battle system- it makes you think! Highest Recommendation. Playstation 2 Final Fantasy 10- Well, it was ok, but not great. The best part of this one was the graphics. Everything else was lackluster. Although I did like the idea of switching characters in battle (a la Star Ocean). Speaking of characters, they weren't that interesting at all. I found them all annoying. Too cliche. The plot was boring also. Bottom line: buy it if you love graphics. Recommended. Final Fantasy X-2- GAK! Someone kill this game! It ruined the decency of the original AND was too silly to be believable. Only good part was the graphics. That was ALL. Great example of a poorly executed sequel. I recommend against this game. Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille Zur Macht- This was a great game, the first great one of the lackluster PS2 RPG era. This story, like Xenogears, is heavily driven by the plot. Some cutscenes are 30 minutes long! Only for those patient players. If you are patient, though, be ready for an absolute gem =). Top notch graphics and music, excellent characer development, fantastic opening to the saga. Only negative is that there is more watch than play in this game. Can't wait for Episode II! Highly Recommended. Star Ocean Til The End of Time- Star Ocean forever! I haven't finished this one yet, but I can say that so far the great people at Tri Ace have created a great game! Item creation was toned down and improved since the second one. Now you can hire people to create for you! As for the battle system, I really like it. It is in real time but still has all the statistics, menus, etc of a standard menu based combat engine. The plot, once again, is not the best out there, but like I said before, you play Tri Ace for the GAME, NOT the STORY. From what I finished so far, Highly Recommended. PC: Diablo 2: Nice break from all those Japanese RPGS. Diablo 2 was well... an interesting game that is surprisingly addictive. I can't say much about plot, all you basically do is go on a quest to kill the devil. This game was unique, and I like that in games. Describing the game would take too long, so here's my final word- Highly Recommended. Games that I SOOO want to get: Xenosaga Episode II: Jensits Von Gund Un Bose Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children (well it's not a game but I want to see it) Chrono Break if Square Enix ever decides to make it (or maybe Monolith- the developers of CT went there after developing Xenogears. It is possible after all...) And that about wraps it up. -------------------- Music is a mysterious thing... Sometimes, it makes people remember things that they do not expect. Many thoughts, feelings, memories... things almost forgotten... Regardless of whether the listener desires to remember them or not... - Shitan, Xenogears |

Playing a game on an Emulator is not the same as playing the original. There's something fake about an emulator that makes me lose concentration.

I have, like, three ROMs, so I'll include those just because...
Atari 2600 Adventure - Yeah, it depends on your definition of an RPG, but this game is often credited as the first (released in 1980) even though its gameplay is more Zeldaesque. This was also my first video game. ![]() NES Final Fantasy - I guess this'd be my first turn-based RPG, and of course my first FF. I actually remember hating the game the first time I played it. Final Fantasy II (ROM) - Ya know, I like the non-leveling leveling system and I'm probably in the minority there. Final Fantasy III (ROM) - Onion Kids, yay! Addicting with its changable job classes and, gamplaywise, one of the best. The Legend of Zelda - If you count it as an RPG. Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of the Lance - God, no! Kill it!! SNES Bahamut Lagoon (ROM) - Like Mu said, it's a strategy RPG like Tactics and a damn good one at that. The story revolves around a war, dragons, and a bad guy (for most of the game) who isn't actually a 'bad' guy for a change. You also get to raise your own attack dragons in a way similar to Pokemon or Monster Rancher. Super Mario RPG - What can I say? Brilliant. Earthbound - So underrated nowadays, but this is almost like a parody of RPGs while still being a fun one itself. FUZZY PICKLES!! Chrono Trigger - I'm sure most know about this one. Final Fantasy II (IV) - I also have the Super Famicom version ('hardtype'), but I no longer have the system. It's my second favorite tied with FFIX. Final Fantasy (VI) - Same with above. Also, my favorite FF. A Link to the Past - My favorite Zelda game. Nintendo 64 Paper Mario - The sequel to Super Mario RPG, so it's just as awesome if not more so. Also, everyone/thing is papery! Ocarina of Time - Well, if I'm going out on a limb to include Zelda games on this list, I might as well list this one, too. PlayStation Final Fantasy V - Part of Anthology. Like FFIII, the job class system makes it fun as hell to play. Final Fantasy VI - And because of Anthology, I have it twice. I try not to play this game on PS since this version is too glitchy and sloooooooowwww... Final Fantasy VII - Probably my least favorite FF since I had never been so badly disappointed by a game until it came out. Not a popular opinion, but it's mine. Final Fantasy VIII - Eh, it was a little better I thought, if not incredibly easy. Final Fantasy IX - My second favorite tied with IV. Uh, yeah. Xenogears - Not much to talk about. It's a pretty solid game, but nothing exceptional in my opinion, which goes against what most people will say about it. Wild ARMs - Wild west RPG = Good. Wild ARMs 2 - Wild west RPG the second time = Not so good. It's kinda mediocre compared to the first I think. PlayStation 2 Final Fantasy X - Good story, horrible characters. The Sphere Grid system makes for an easy time though and chocobo racing for the Sun Sigil may very well be the worst minigame ever. Final Fantasy X-2 - Once again--like in FFIII and FFV--the job class system makes the gameplay awesome (although some, like Berserker, have been altered a little too much), however, the storyline and dialogue is awful in pretty much every way. Kingdom Hearts - A crossover game that doesn't suck, how cool is that? The camera angles sometimes screw you up and it's a bit strange beating up enemies with a giant key, but overall it's an excellent game. Wild ARMs 3 - Better than the second at least. Actually, it's pretty good, but neither of them beat the first Wild ARMs. Phantom Brave - I haven't even started it yet... GameCube Skies of Arcadia Legends - A port of the Dreamcast game, and since I don't own a DC, that's a good thing. Air Pirates and airships and battles in the sky...oh my! Very fun. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Yet another sequel that I'm around 20 hours in to. It's so addicting, even more so than its two predecessors. If I left out any I'll think of them eventually. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong. - Murphy’s Law Boing! Zoom! - Mr. Saturn |

I asked so that I may read others lists and look for games I may want to aquire. And you know, more people need to play Live-a-Live and Tactics Ogre! 'Any' FFT fan should play Tactics Ogre at least. NES
FFI - used to own the cartridge, now have a ROM. Loved it even when I couldn't play it properly (I was 4). FFII - ROM. As weird as the system is, I like how you level up. FFIII - ROM (of course). Love it. Dragon Warrior - I downloaded the ROMs for I-III, but I've only played I so far. I'm not really far enough, but I like it so far. SNES FFIIus - Cartridge. Favorite game. FFIV (J2E ROM) - Favrite game. FFIV ET - I just downloaded and played the ROM so I could see the new Zeromus. FFV - ROM. It's Ok. FFVI - ROM. It's OK. SMRPG - ROM. I like this one. It's really neat. Lagoon - Cartridge. Love this game. LoZ: ALttP - Cartridge. Not an RPG. Earthbound - weird game Chrono Trigger - It's Ok. I don't really see what the fuss is about. Tales of Phantasia - Weird and kinda stupid Bahamut Lagoon - Neat PSX FFVII - Good/Average game. Badd FF game. FFVIII - It's Ok. FFIX - Love it FFT - Not an RPG Legend of Dragoon - Like it Alundra 2 - It's Ok. Great while playing. Wild ARMs 2 - Own it, but haven't started playing it yet. DC Grandia II - LoveitLoveitLoveitLoveitLoveitLoveitLoveitLoveitLoveitLoveitLoveitLoveit Time Stalkers - Neat. Story suffers due to gameplay focus PSO - Like it alot. Story doesn't suffer as much as TS Game Boy (all) Pokemon - I thought it was Ok, until they started releasing ones that were impossible to "Catch 'em all." FFTA: Not an RPG Zelda: Link's awakening, both Oracles, 4 Swords, NES rereleases - Not RPGs -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

Ok people i'm 15 and i've liked the ff games for about 1/2 a year. so here goes.
Snes Final Fatasy V: Yes a great game but when you finish it you think, all that for this shabby ending, job-class system is fun but a bit boring after a while, thats my opinion. GameBoy/advance Pokemon Red, Blue and crystal - good at the right age Most zelda games - Mediocre Play station Final Fantasy VII - Recomended but everyone has played it and a few others but i had this about 4 years ago. Xbox Fable, well i don't but my money is saved for halo 2. Pc FFXI - I love this game, my favourite RPG well and mmorpg, it rules i love it muwah. I havn't found it boring either. |

I was moveing stuff around yesterday and found all the games i own so i have quite a bit of editing to do. At any rate here goes nothing.
here are mine SNES: Final Fantasy3 (amarican):My all time favortie game in the world, it was also my first love in the video game world. This game hooked me cause of the great story line and charector background. Not only that but it also got me with the graphics and music. As far as i am concered square has never produced a game to match this one. Final Fantasy 2(amarican): Ah yes final fantasy 2 or 4 if you are from japan, this is one of my favorites as well. I like the fact that one of your friends becomes the villan for a while, but in the end helps you beat the ultimate evil. I also really liked how some of the summons where in this game. The ledgend of zelda a link to the past: This was the first game i had ever gotten for the super nintendo and i must say it was worth every cent spent on it. The story is among the best of the Zelda series, and even has some of the basis for ocerina of time in it. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest:This like the rest of my final fantasy games on the super nintendo i bought used. I thought it was a good game but way to easy, i never had to use a stragie guide for it and beat the game in only four days of purchase. All and all the graphics are a bit corny but it is really a good game. Donky Kong Country : For those of you who dont know about this game you need to get out from under your rock. This was a classic the day it came out, rich graphic content, many levels to play in, two player mode, the music, and of course the comedy really made this a good game. I have since shunned donky kong cause they ruined it on the thrid one. Donkey Kong Country 2: The sequal to the first one where its just diddy and dixie. This game had the awesome graphics of the first and still maintained the strong story line. With the help of new animal friends and dixie and her wounderus hair, this game was far from boreing. Megaman X:A friend of mine gave this to when he was going through his old games he didnt want it anymore so i took it.I have never been vary good at megaman games so i dont get vary far in this one. If you ask me this game is alittle like Metriod, but it is fun to play. Super Starwars:This is a challangeing game its basiclly the new hope in the starwars sires. you play as luke through many chanllangeing levels. Its a really hard game i think cause you only start out with a blaster and have to work your way up to getting the light saber, unless you use a code. Sim City:Who can turn down an utter classic like this? Not me, i was excited when i found this in bin at wal mart, it had been marked down and was pratically given away. You are the mayor of a city in the makeing, you can build your dream city, then destroy it with natureal deasters. This game is turely a must have. Super Mario All Stars: this is basicall a compleation of all of marios works one the NES. It has every mario game every made one the NES i do belive, i traded a friend of mine for it, i got ride of super mario brothers. This game is okay since i am not a huge mario fan i dont like it all that much. N64: Star Fox 64: my first game for the N64, my friend dan raved about it cause he played it in the store desply at walmart all the time. This game is acutally really good but very time consumeing. The only bad aspect i think about this game is the fact that you only get control over one charector, the rest are all really incompedent. The game spands several worlds, with the option of meeting two friends that are hidden charectors along the way to achive your ultimate goal, Defeat andross and advenge your father. Starwars Rouge Squadron: One of my personal favorites for the N64, has mutiple levels that you can play as luke. You can unlocke many many ships to play on different levels, inculding the much talked about naboo fighter. I like this game alot cause you can imagine what they felt like in real time battles, it was great. Harvest Moon 64:I had to admit when my friend first told me he got this game i laughed my head off. However there is something entranceing about this game something that makes you want to pla, like a sickness. It's graphic content is alittle cutesie for my tases but it is a very good game none the less and had a very strong following. Super Mario 64: I have to say i am not a mario fan but i figured i'd give this game a try. In terms of gameplay, well its nothing to write home about and is pretty much the same story that is in all the marios that i know about. Bowser has kidnapped princess peach and mario must get her back. I'm not overly fond of this game but i guess its okay. Ocerina of time: This game was another instant classic that i have in my collection. You start out as a child on a quest for the great deku tree, and end up getting into more action than you know what to do with. The evil gannondorf is trying to take control of the land, the royal family all seem to deaf to the fact execpt for there young daughter princess zelda. I only wish you had gotten to have a make out sceen with zelda in this game. Pokemon Stadium:Ah yes the N64 arena for the populare game series, it corresponds with the orginal three games that came out in amarica. You can fight your pokemon from your game boy cartradges on the big screen in 3-D. There is lots to do here, mini games, in game story battles, tradeing, fighting the elite four, getting rare pokemon for your games. It's out and out a very good game. Pokemon Snap:Again another pokemon enspired game, this time how ever you dont capture pokemon, you take there picture. This game deals with a charector form the popular T.V series of pokemon, his name is todd and he is trying to get pictures of all the pokemon he can. The game is really challangeing cause the pictures have to be taken just right to get enough points. Micro Machines Turbo 64: Okay so this was an impuls buy, but is still a decent game. You need the N64 memory card to play this little beauty, you are basically a racer raceing with different micro machines on tracks that are a bit wacky. If you beat levels a certian way you can get new cars as prizes, which you can use on different courses and try to get even more new cars with. The graphics for this game suck big time but other than that its an okay game. Hey You Pikachu: I'm embrassed to say i was curious what this game was like so i bought it. The game comes with the N64 Microphone which as far as i know was only used for this game. You baiscally find a rambunous pikachu one day and try to befriend it. The game i guess was suppost to be nintendos anwser to giga pets. There is not really a great story behind it, and quite frankly its hard to play cause you have to give pikachu comands in order for it to really do anything. Sony Playstation: Final Fantasy 7:Ah yes the unfinished final fantasy, i got this as a players choice game cause i didnt get my playstation till it had been out for a while. I must say that the gaps in story line and oddly said things make this game comical, but not all that great. I wish square had finished this game cause i like the charectors and i liked the materia system. But alas it was never fully finished. the hidden charectors in this game are very intresting, and insanely strong. Final Fantasy 8: This game is alittle confuesing at first i must say, i dont get junctioning to this day.The charectors in this are very well drawn and very well played. The weapons i wasnt so impressed with, you just up grade them rather than get new ones. The magic system in this game was a real pain cause you had to draw it from your enemy. All and all this game was only so-so, even though it did have some of the classic elements like side and a few of the summons i really think it could have been done better. Final Fantasy9: This game felt like a cartoon when i first played it, the style and charectors seemed like that to me.I liked this game cause of the richness of the graphics in certain areas, the stroy line, the charctor personalitys, and numerous side quests. This game was very well thought out and had some great summons and magic in it. Very good game in my opion Jedi Battle powers: I got this game cause i wanted to duke it out with all the different jedis...i must say i have fun with this one. You can choose between a few charectors from episode one of starwars. You basically do epsiode one but in very different ways. Great game. Harvest moon back to nature:Yet another one of the many harvest moons i own. This game was in the same format as the N64 version and suprise even had the same people. It was just a different village, They introduced new crops in this game and gave you a but load of new expansions for your house in this. The stroy is pretty much the same but ends after you hit your thrid year like in the N64 Version. Sim City 200: This is almost extcally like its computer counter part exctep for some new additons. They added some new items you can earn if you do a good enough job as mayor, they also make it so you can have aliens invade your city, its quite intresting. Episode 1 The phantom menace: This is a good starwars game, you start out with obiwan and quigon jin trying to negatiate peace and have to fight your way off of this minture death star like thing. Graphics are good and game play is fun, plus you get to blow stuff up which is always fun. Monster Rancher 2:This game is truely amazing and one of my faves as well. You are to be a monster trainer whos is starting out in a world where monsters are present and kept as pet. You can get monsters off of any CD that isnt DVD or PS2 formatted. You can then take these monsters to your ranch and train them, watch them grow, play with them, even battle them. This is a challangeing game though cause you monsters have a certain life spanso training them to be good might just take there entire life. Beast Wars Transmetals:This was from the popular sequall to the transformers series, this game was cool. You could fight as either the maximals or the predicons battleing your way into the others base to retrive the golden disk that was stolen from you. There wasnt much story to this game, and not much was really able to be done, but still like fighting with all those charectors. Legend of Legaia: This to me is way too much like LOTD but i like it none the less. You are on a quest to find the source of this deadly mist, along the way you meet friend who can help you out. I'm not very far yet in this game but i do know its really fun. Final Fantasy tatics: There is only one way you can describe this game, Incredible. the story is wonderful, the charectors very well made, and the quest is very well played out. I dont like the world set up in this though, you cant go inside the city and interact with people. But all and all the story, graphics, game play, and battle style far make up for that in this game. The hidden charectors are awesome and cloud even makes a guest apperiance. So out and out i'd have to say this game is a must have. DarkStone:I cant give this game much of a review i havent been able to get very far in it so i dont know what to tell you about it. It is really challangeing i can say that much and was a good ten dollar game. However it takes six memory card slots which can really make it hard for you to play it. Game Cube: Harvest moon A Wonderful Life:This is a new look on the harvest moon series, its a really good game. You can raise crops and animals like in the others, but you get new never befor seen crops through hybridizing, plus you can grow trees which is alot of fun. You also get new animals in this such as , ducks, a cat, a goat, and an assortment of new cows. This one also allows you to push your offspring towards a certain caree based on what you show him, how you interact with your animals, who you are friends are, and what toys he has. Very good game in my opion. Ocerina of time master quest: This was a real treat of gotten with my game cube, they basically revisited the Ocerina of time but made the dungeons harder, and the puzzles in them more challangeing. This is really a must have as well for all of you who like true challanges. StarWars Rouger Squadron II Rouge leader:This is the sequal to the N64 version and basicall takes place during the Return of the Jedi. You can unlocke new ships while playing a few classic battles, like the battle of hoth or the death star trench run. This game has all of the surprises of the first one plus the options of a few new ships, like boba fetts slave 1 and jango fetts slave one, new ties to fight in, and of course the naboo fighter. Great game in deed. Animal crossing:This game was inspired by the harvest moon seires, even if you arent a farmer in this. You get tools in this game to preform certain tasks in maintaining your life. You can get fruit trees to grow and sell all the fruit, many different kinds of furninture and wallk papers and rugs for your home., House expansions, Friendly villagers who come and go. The best part of this game is the real time simulation, every thing happens in real time instead of game time. So weather you are digging up fossiles collecting bugs, catching fish or collecting furniture this is all and all a good game. Super Smash bro. Melee:What a wonderful game! You have all the fighters from the orgianl with the additons of a few new fighters. This game has the same gameing style as befor but has some new additons, like you can earn trophys that tell you about different nintendo games, the charectors, and the battles fields. Plus the additon of event matches, curle and endless melee, 15 and 3 mintue melees this game has something for every one. Pokemon Colosseum: This is kinda like its precursors on the N64 but you dont have mini games in this one, instead you have a story mode where you can catch pokemon to transfer to your ruby and sapphire versions. This is an okay game really not much to do but battle your pokemon in 3-D enviorment. PS2: Final Fantasy 10: What can i say about this game that hasnt already been said? I thought it was too short, and mostly cinmas. The story was okay but Blitz Ball is addicting. The charetors in this one are really awesome, and the abilty system is like nothing i had ever seen. Plus who didnt love the makeout scene between yuna and tidus. Dot Hack Infection: The first of the Dot hack games, and turely a unique game i must say. The whole premise of the game takes place inside of a computer game some time in the future, your charector Kite is trying to figure out what happened to his friend orca. Along the way he gets a strang new ablitly that allows him to rewrite monster data, and hack gates into other areas. This is turely a spectauclar game full of rich story, lost of hidden charectors and a feature that makes it a bit more real, you can only call on certain charectors at certain times. Great game! Dot Hack Mutation:This is the second game of the series, you can transfer your data from the first game to this one. The quest remains the same, you meet more new charectors, harder bosses and dungeons, and of course become better friends with your in game pals. This series is a must have. Gamboy: Legend of Zelda Links Awakening DX: Was a remake of the orgenial just for the gameboy color. This one take place in a dream world that link stumbles into on his travles. You must save this dream world and wake the wind fish in order to restore peace. This game was great with new enemys, new uses for the ocerina, many dungons, and a great and zany cast of charectors. Final Fantasy Legend: This is really old school here, this game is nothing but fetch quests, and saveing different worlds in strange ways. Like the first final fantasy, there is no main charector, nore are there hidden charectors. This game is okay but very very long if you dont know where to go. Harvest Moon GBC3 Boy Meets Girl: this is the only one of the orgienal gameboy harvest moons that you can get married in. The game play in this is poor at best, you dont get to do much, and you cant interact with charectors like you could in the other games. Its not all the great. Pokemon Blue: Those of you who dont know about pokemon have been liveing under a rock for the past seven plus years. This is one of the orginal games that started the craze. the graphics are poor but the game play is rich. Your goal is to collect as many as you can. Pokemon yellow: This was an editon made to mimic the show seires alittle bit, you start out with pikachu and end up getting all the starter pokemon in red and blue. the graphics are alot better in this one and they are in color. Pokemon gold:This was a new chapter in the pokemon games, it opened up alot of new pokemon to the series and added many new features that you had to unlocke in creative ways. The story is about the same though you have to work your way to get all the pokemon avilible to you. Pokemon crystal: A specal editon of the second chapeter in the pokemon series, this game was like gold and sliver but it had new features in it and some new ways to get certain pokemon. You could still trade your pokemon from gold silver red blue and yellow to this game. Harvest Moon Friens of mineral town: Cudos to anyone still reading this, this game is baiscally a GBA remake of Back to nature on the PS1. You have the same village with the same charectors, how ever new things have been added as well as a link to the gamecube version of harvest moon. This game really has no ending but has alot more to do in than its early counter part. Pokemon ruby and sapphire: These two are basically the same game they just have different pokemon you can catch in each game. These games worried pokemon fans cuase you couldnt get alot of the older ones for you GB cartarges. Good story and game play with these games. Pokemon Leaf Green: This is just a remake of the orginal reb and blue and green (japan only) versions of pokemon. This one allows you to trade some old school pokemon to your ruby and sapphire versions. the graphics are greatly improved and new items and abiltys have been added. I know this is alot but i have not life so this is what i do in my spare time. Any ways Cudos to anyone who got this far milk and cookies are waiting on your way out. I hope i have gotten some people intrested in some of these games. This post has been edited by Lockes AlterEgo on 10th January 2005 17:54 -------------------- Don't fear the reaper! here's my list of RPGs
SNES: Breath of fire 2- great role playing game. has one of the hottest female characters I've used in a game. and with dangerous speed and power! VERY deadly Final fantasy 6: cool game with lots of playable characters for support Final Fantasy 4: didn't like this game much, they should've let me change characters in this game. (and at least keep some of the good characters alive) GB/GBA- Pokemon, Red and blue- the only game where you get to catch and train monsters to fight on your side. and also has the best glitchs. ( first it was getting alot of items and catching MEW at level 7. this has gota be my most Favorite game of all times. great play, battle system, and Glitches.) Pokemon silver and crystal- 2ed created pokemon. pritty good game if you ask me. Pokemon ruby- great, more pokemon to train. with such powerful pokemom on my side, I'll be unstoppable Final fantasy Legend 3- my very first RPG but pokemon red wad the first game I've truly played with. FFL3 is a fun game that has lots of powerful weapons and items. Final fantasy tactics advance= Good game with cool job classes and jobs. but the laws do get in my way of winning battles Mario & Lugie super star saga- good game with cool moves to use outside and inside of battles. PS1- Final fantasy 7- Great game. with lots of fun characters and the plot is good too. FF8: kind of boring, but some of the characters are good FF9- fun but has a lack of great items. FFtactics- knighthood days. and sometimes even Churches can't be trusted, huh? Digimon world 3- cool game. altho they should've made the ending more fun. PS2- Dark cloud 1- good game with some mixes with Zelda and final fantasy 9 stuff. Dark cloud 2- fun game. it's nice to make your own weapons and "Toys" to fight off enemies. Gamecube- Pokemon Colosseum- it's an ok game it does have some pros and cons. it was nice to have a 3D Pokemon RPG for a change, and able to catch some pokemon I can't normally get from my GBA games. but the few downsides is that i can trade VERY late in the game and can only catch shadow pokemon (not wild ones,) and they only get "Shadow rush" as soon as you catch them and needed to open there hearts up. Long Post ahead bring a pepsi or a coke and your favorite homemade meal. Forgive my spell checker for any spelling mistakes and my pile of mush brain for any grammatical.
I would have posted earlier today but my electricity got cut off for a few hours. Conveniently that happened right when I was about to finish the post I had almost finished. Well since LoZ counts, I guess that means similar games like SoM should count as well. Here we go again: NES Dragon Quest(I think it was called Dragon Quest, if it wasn't I will edit in a name change.): Can't say much because I only played up until I got past the first sub dungeon. The Legend of Zelda: A famous overhead view game that provided a great challenge. To this day I never beat Gannon. GB(ALL) Pokemon Blue: I am probably the only one left in the world who still likes pokemon. Except Mewmon up there it looks like. Pokemon Yellow: Ditto. Pokemon Gold: See above. Pokemon Crystal: The same as the others and I can get all 249(I'm not counting 151 and 251) of the little critters without a trading partner. Pokemon Ruby: The same as all of the above GB games so far. Also it had the best music and graphics of all of them. Game play of course is the same. Only thing I hated was that it wasn't reverse compatible with the others. I really wanted to show Groudon who's boss with my Lv 100 Mewtwo Azure Dreams: Decent game but it leaves allot to be desired. There is a PS X version I never played so maybe I just have a bad port. Final Fantasy Adventure: Amazingly I managed to beat FF Adventure, I don't know how I didn't die of boredom first. I know in Japan it doesn't have the name Final Fantasy in it but still, I nominate this game to be the worst game it the Final Fantasy series. I can't pass that judgment on MQ (See below) until I play it more. SNES Final Fantasy 2(US): I don't need to tell you about this game, its covered on the site. Recommended Final Fantasy 3(US): Same as the one above except there would be no Caves of Narshe without it. Also Recommended. Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest: A truly bad game. Someday I might beat it if I am very bored. Until then I can't say its the worst FF until I am halfway through. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars: Mario games rock, no matter what the genre it looks like Earthbound: You either love this game or hate it. I for one love it and its zany goodness. I also like to say New Age Retro Hippies. Chrono Trigger: Excellent game no matter what the price you pay for it. Time travel has never been so fun. SoM: Much better then its predecessor FF Adventure. I don't see how Square pulled it off. I never got past the third boss unfortunately, I must be under leveled. I love this game. The Legend of Zelda: A link to the Past: The best game in the LoZ series in my humble opinion. Also comes at the most reasonable price of any other game listed in this SNES section. Soul Blazer: One of the only two Enix games I have. This was a fun game with a good premise and unique story. The game play was nice clean and simple, just how I like it. If LoZ counts this must count too. Illusion of Gaia: The other Enix game and the sequal to the one above. It had a more serious air around it which I didn't like. The game play was more complicated but that isn't always a good thing. Also, you couldn't go back to places when you passed that part of the game. Not the worst game I have played but not the best. Harvest Moon: Well, I know it isn't a Role Playing Game per se but I can't think of a better category for it. You play the role of a rancher who doesn't save the wold(I think). I just got it so I can't say much else. N64 Pokemon Stadium: The only way I ever got to fight Lv 100 pokemon. This game holds some of the little bit of challenge the pokemon series has for me. Pokemon Stadium 2: This game holds the rest of said challenge. Also has some useful features to exploit. Paper Mario: The Semi-Sequal to Super Mario RPG. Not quite as good but it is still fun. Quest 64: When I am bored I beat crappy games. The story was scarcely bearable but everything else was awful. Even the distance between towns and notation of the map. I fell ripped off and I bought it for $5. Play Station Final Fantasy VII: Good game and worth playing. I never beat Sephiroth's second form. Final Fantasy VIII: Bad game and not worth a moment of your time. Everything was bad especially the Junction System(How magic worked.) and Character Development. FFT: I don't need to cover this see my FF IV reasoning(Above). Recommended. Game Cube. Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: It had an interesting set of events and a good bit of background to the levels. The graphics were pretty too. One word describes this game: boring. The game play had little to nothing going for it. That is all I can think of at the moment. I'll say if I can find more latter. Edit Added to the SNES list a little. I'm in my first year of college and I've been playing RPGs for something like eleven years; I have so many that I'm not going to leave comments so I can keep my sanity. If an RPG has a *, then it's absolutely worth your time (I am stingy in giving out such a rating, however...). Oh, and some of these games were emulated.

Here's a rather small list of my RPG's:
NES: Legend of Zelda- Zelda. What else is there to say? SNES: Chrono Trigger- Very awesome game, but not the best on the system. Awesome enough for me to buy it again on PSX, though. FFVI- Best FF game out there FFV- Pretty good, but I can never seem to finish it. EarthBound- The best game ever created. I have had the pleasure to play this game over and over again, and having a hippie blind you with his teeth never gets any lamer. EarthBound! Capitalize the B! N64: Legend of Zelda OOT- Played this so much i can beat it from scratch in a matter of hours. (Biggoron sword, gold scale, and giants wallet included) Legend of Zelda MM- Pretty good, but not the best. Came Cube: Tales of Symphonia- the second best RPG out there. I've never played an RPG for more than one player. Vive la revolution! PC: Man, no one's said Diablo II yet. That game practically defined MMORPG's! -------------------- They say the opposite of "pro" is "con." So isn't the opposite of progress Congress? In no particular order.
- Skies of Arcadia - FFVI - Grandia II - Baldur's Gate 2 (PC version) - Diablo 2 - Super Mario RPG - Pokemon Red/Blue - Quest 64 (yeah, I liked it...shut up) - FF IV - FF VII - To a far less serious or historical extent, X-Men Legends. It's a lot of fun. Also, I agree with DP about Zelda games not being RPGs. They are action/adventure games. I believe the charcters in an RPG have to have some sort of ability advancement ("leveling up"), while Link just gains new equipment. By that standard, everything from Halo to Contra would be an RPG. The Zelda series is amazing, no doubt, and there has never been any game like them, but they aren't RPGs. |

Here's my (extremely short) list of RPG's I own:
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Pokemon Crystal Version Final Fantasy Tactics Fire Emblem Here's my list of RPG's I want: Kingdom Hearts Final Fantasy I-XI Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories Final Fantasy Tactics Advance Sword of Mana Golden Sun: The Lost Age Final Fantasy I and II: Dawn of Souls Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga World of Warcraft Star Ocean Xenosaga ... and countless others I have yet to remember. Edit Yep, I just got Fire Emblem. Also, I missed an RPG. Also, this list will most likely be edited more as I gain money(I've now got an allowance).
