Square Enix to Re-release Some 'Classics'

Square Enix
Square Enix has announced that it will re-release a few of its Playstation 1 titles under Sony's Greatest Hits this coming December.

The titles being re-released are all Square titles: Final Fantasy Anthology, Final Fantasy Chronicles, Vagrant Story, and Xenogears. Being under the Greatest Hit means that the titles will be reasonable priced, each costing around $20 US. For those who don't know, Final Fantasy Chronicles consists of FFIV and Chrono Trigger while Final Fantasy Anthology packages FFV and FFVI together.

I might just have to pick up Chronicles and Anthology. I can't see myself buying either at the ridiculous price they go for on EBay and used game stores, but I can see myself plunking down 20 bucks. I think it is a good move by Square Enix. They might as well be making the profits off the games instead of the EBay-ers if there is still a big demand for them.

Ejoty I already have Anthology and Chronicles. I guess 40 bucks is okay for me since I only play 2 or 3 games a year and am kind of partial to ff.

edge murasame I will have to keep an eye out for Vagrant Story. That is the only game that I don't have in that list. I have heard that it is a very good rpg.

tenshi/akuma *gasp* You mean I can buy Xenogears and Vagrant Story without first looking through a used pile, and then having to pay upward of $40? Kick ass!

Yes.

But personally, I don't see why you'd want to with Xenogears.

Old news to me, but I wanted to get those titles with the actual boxes and not all scratched up, so I'm waiting on them.

I'm not surprised that it's old news to you. It's been nearly a month since we posted it. >_>

PrinniesDood Personally, I don't think Square should have the right to publish Xenogears after they cut it's budget and turned the latter part of the game into what it was. It's no wonder the games development team moved to Namco.

I'd like to see square re-release some classics on the GBA. I would gladly pay a whole lot for anthology on my GBA, heck, I'd gladly pay a whole lot for just FF6 on my GBA. That would own.

Don't forget those terribly designed dungeons in 'Gears as well...

PrinniesDood: I'd rather them release an ORIGINAL old-school RPG on GBA than a rehash--even if they did it for Chrono Trigger and FFVI. Or imports we didn't see yet. Imagine the follow up to Secret of Mana (the SNES one, not GB...you know the one I mean) finally seeing the light of day here.

AndrewTS Has anyone here actually found all these re-releases? I managed to pick up Final Fantasy Anthology (they had one copy at a out of town Best Buy), but didn't have Chronicles. Haven't seen any of them anywhere else so far.
Rangers51Comment 9: 2003-12-30 04:26
Rangers51 Well, Anthology was released in 1999, Chronicles in 2002 (I think) and Origins this year. I have seen all three side by side, both new and used, in several stores.

Hanyou Has anyone heard when the greatest hits versions will be released?
