Square Enix Presents! Final Fantasy News Recap
First up is Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster. Covering the first six main games, these titles (released individually) will be coming soon to Steam, Android and iOS, though a release date wasn't mentioned. No other information was released other than these promise to be "pixel perfect" remasters.
The other major announcement for Final Fantasy fans is Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, an upcoming action game in collaboration with Team NINJA from KOEI TECMO GAMES, creators of the NINJA GAIDEN and Nioh series. Coming in 2022 for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One as well as PC, this spinoff appears to be heavily influenced by the original Final Fantasy game, although with new characters. Jack and his allies Ash and Jed throw open the gates to the Chaos Shrine, resolved to defeat Chaos. Take a look at the video here: YouTube
A free trial of this game is now available to download and play through June 24th.
The presentation also featured glimpses from Square Enix's mobile games, both current and upcoming. Seen were:
- the repeat collaboration between Final Fantasy I and War of the Visions:FFBE
- the upcoming fifth anniversary of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius
- footage of Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier
- a sample of NieR Reincarnation
Finally, they showed (old) teaser footage of their other upcoming games, including Forspoken, Final Fantasy XVI, and Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, but those of us wishing for further glimpses at these titles were left disappointed.

I completely missed that there was a demo of Stranger of Paradise. I might have to grab that later today.

I am very excited for Strangers of Paradise, it looks like it will be fun. As with every year, people are upset with E3 and I can't figure out why. There was a lot of SE news and none of it seemed bad. The big complaint I'm seeing is that the Pixel Remaster isn't on console and honestly, it wouldn't make money there. Steam and Mobile really are the best options for it. I'm just glad they used the copyright. It feels like one step closer to the remakes we're all dying for. Will I get the collection? Yes, probably; even if I don't like the sprite design it is still a collection rather than going and buying them all individually. While I covered my actual thoughts in a video series that I won't ask you to endure, I did have a knee jerk reaction that made me laugh. You don't need the app to view the video, it will open in a browser window for you. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMdjTEaBR/ Let's hope the money from these releases and Endwalker bring more good content for the next E3.

Quote (St Khael @ 15th June 2021 16:54) Steam and Mobile really are the best options for it. We were talking in Discord yesterday about how Steam and Mobile make sense, but it seems like a glaring omission to not have them at least on Switch, too. Also, the Stranger of Paradise demo is only on PS5. ![]()
