Sony and Square Go Australian
http://www.rpgamer.com/news/Q1-2003/021203b.html
Hey, I know for a fact that we have at least one forumgoer from Australia, so this is valid. Â

I think that a package like this is going to attract many Australians to the deal and will just help to broaden Square and Sony's hold on the video game market. Â Though Gamecube and XBox are putting up a fight, Sony is still the leader in the market and hey, getting another continent will only add to the mix. Â When their first taste is of a certain company, in this case possibly Square, they may just follow that company and its games for quite awhile. Â I know the first RPGs I played were all from Square and I followed the company for quite awhile before discovering some third party companies, so this is a good, smart move by the companies.

Actually Australia has had PS2's since 2001. The Gaming community here has responded well to Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X which have both become hits here. Unfourtunatly FF6 and FF4 are very much close to forgotten. Also Sony is the Undisputed King in Australia as far Consoles are concerned. The Gamecube and the X-Box are fairing well. Though the only X-Box purchase known in my memory is in Narromine and one guy I know from work. For every GC and X-Box sold in Australia five more PS2's are sold. I admit I'am warmed that people care for my back water country.

Oops, I misread it. It seems the real deal is the PS2 packaged with the games, not that PS2 is making its way down there. It's still interesting to see a response and see just what the ration of NGC:XB:PS2 is down there, though. Does anybody know if that sort of package is available anywhere else.

There isn't a Playstation 2 + a game deal over that I know of (unless you buy a bundle from a specific game retailer such as EB) over in North America, but I do know that Nintendo is giving buyers a choice of Metroid Prime, Star Fox Adventures, Mario Party 4 or Resident Evil 0 with the purchase of a GameCube. Â You can see the source of that info here: http://biz.yahoo.com/rc/030206/media_nintendo_hits_1.html[/URL]
