DAMN that design is UGLY! I don't see why sony couldn't keep their original and comfortable Dual Shock controller, like all they have to do is edit it to addapt to the PS3.

Of course they were going to redesign it after everyone and his mother laughed at the batarang. I'm hoping for a slightly modified version of the dual-shock, myself. It has the perfect form for its function. Why mess that up?

I think it'll be the same, just with the 'wings' shortened alittle and then fattened alittle. So basicly a happy medium between the old prototype and the dualshock. At least thats what I hope. The boomerang was looking good but, y'know, everyone jumped on it before trying it. My biggest fear is them going for the 'glass bead' style buttons like Xbox, that is NOT comfitable for gaming and completly ruins the subtlety of analogue, pressure sensitive buttons.

I think they will probably go with something that looks alot more like the dualshock, if not the same design yet again. Hey, I wouldn't complain.

I thought it looked like something different than a batarang... I'd go with something like the sega saturn had, lightweight and confortable to hold.

Quote (BASSsic @ 23rd March 2006 20:47) I think it'll be the same, just with the 'wings' shortened alittle and then fattened alittle. My biggest fear is them going for the 'glass bead' style buttons like Xbox, that is NOT comfitable for gaming and completly ruins the subtlety of analogue, pressure sensitive buttons. Personally, I think analogue face buttons are more trouble than they're worth (certainly for someone who naturally only puts light pressure on the buttons like me) and I'm glad the 360 has completely done away with them. Pressure sensitive buttons should allow you to really feel how far you're pressing them, in my opinion, like the GC and Xbox shoulder triggers. I can't think of many games where there's a great need for more than two pressure sensitive buttons (though admittedly I never saw a point in two analogue sticks, and I was wrong about that). I'm also glad to hear this is being redesigned. Does anyone remember the animated GIF that tried to defend the old PS3 controller design? I felt that was seriously flawed - try looking at it while holding your Dual Shock or DS2, and if you're anything like me you'll see that the hand positions they claim you take with these controllers are quite wrong.
