New Final Fantasy XIII Info

Final Fantasy XIII
According to Famitsu, the storyline of Final Fantasy XIII will center on the roles of two races within a caste system - the Falsi are an extremely wise people that built the Cocoon protecting the city from the outside, and the Lusi are humans chosen to work for the Falsi. It's unclear where the game's protagonist falls in this cultural hierarchy, but the young woman shown as a friend of the main character is confirmed to be one of the Lusi. Details on the exact nature of the Falsi-Lusi relationship are unclear, but it will take an important role in Final Fantasy XIII's plot.

In addition, summons are revealed to be tools created to assist the Lusi in whatever tasks they need to perform, In addition to Shiva (as in Shiva the motorcycle), traditional Final Fantasy summoned monsters Ifrit, Siren, and Carbuncle are slated to be in the game.

Final Fantasy XIII has no release date in any region thus far, but Famitsu mentioned that FF XIII "begins in earnest" in 2008, whatever that's supposed to mean.

FallingHeart Sounds like square is incorperating more political intruige and stuff like in XII, as opposed to the usual love story we see. This could make the game very good, I'm excited.

This, Ico 3, MGS4, the PS3 is starting to build up solid titles, I might actually end up buying one.

Del S Hmm. Maybe, just maybe, this might manage to do right what FF12 did right, and maybe even do right what FF12 did wrong. I'm all for a more political plotline rather than having it all sidetracked by romance and cliche.

That city there in the second image looks... modern. It could be any city on Earth today from what I see there. That's promising.

But I'm not getting my hopes up for anything other than cardboard characters and ultimately bland plot.

Oh, first image was AWOL when I clicked. Might just be imageshack going a bit odd, but might be the image needs reuploaded.

not yet announced, but count on PS3.

i am really pumped for this game. its gonna have the traditional summons, which i much preferred to FFXII's, and that they will play a larger part in the game. and in another announcement, squenix said that they wanted to make use of the dualshock's motion stuff. i also read that they were going to bring back the world map, like in earlier FF's.

my source, of course

Looks like someone needs to have a little more focus when they're reading. sleep.gif

The main numbered one, that is, without any sort of subtitle or anything, is going to be on the PS3. Frankly, just because the storyline was going to include Crystals doesn't make it too intruiging for me, even with the political struggle. Final Fantasy IX had vague references to the crystals within the storyline and it worked. I guess we will just see how they can try to make the storyline work.

I believe that XIII is just going to be one of those games that I will just purchase long after the release like I did with Final Fantasy X just because I waited to get the console. With all the negative news about the PS3, it's the least appealing next-gen console for me.

fatman When I first saw the video trailer for this game, I can't say I was particularly excited. The pictures are nice, but I think I'll need a nice detailed and positive review to persuade me. I just have a sneaking suspicion they are counting more on graphics and special effects to sell this game. So I won't be rushing out and buying it on release day.

With so many amazing games coming out, Square are really going to have to go all out, and do something seriously impressive.
