New Final Fantasy XII Trailer

Square Enix
As any person eagerly awaiting the release of Final Fantasy XII can tell you, it's been a long time since we've been allowed to see a new trailer for the game. Well, Square-Enix has decided to throw us fans a bone with a new video showcasing some amazing looking visuals, and some of the Japanese voice acting (with english subtitles).

They haven't added any of the actual in-game footage, but come on, it's Square-Enix, when do they ever show actual gameplay footage in their trailers?

karasuman Even my husband, who hates everything because he thinks it makes him seem superior, admits that that trailer looks good. This gives me hope.

laszlow Wow. No matter how this game turns out, you can't deny that Square-Enix knows how to make badass cutscenes. Of course, FF XII's other non-visual aspects are such a huge question mark that I still don't know what to think of the game yet, but I do know that I'm getting a bit more squeamish right now in anticipation.

Del S I'm not convinced. It looks like Star Wars with swords on one planet. The cutscenes are interesting, but something seemed amiss with the score in that trailer: It sounded awful, in my opinion. The trailer itself looks good, but like I said, I'm not convinced just on looks. It'll take me having the thing in my PS2 for me to not be worried it will be another monumental failure in terms of plot and gameplay. Thus far, information to that end sounds like I'll still have to see it to decide. The battle system could either be a revolution, or a failed uprising. The plot may be a familiar yet new story, or it might just be the Same Old Story of male lead falls in love with slightly thick female lead, whilst slightly kickass other player characters and irritating diddy player characters almost no one ever uses a la Selphie et Rikku.

It looks too stuck in the clichés of the series to really be anything great and innovative right now, characterwise. The plot also sounds too regular, but I see a small glimmer of hope. Perhaps your characters will not save the world, perhaps you characters will not win the war. Perhaps they'll just have been there and helped out.

Still, I've been wrong before. I can but hope Squenix have a surprise in store for the unconvinced like myself and maybe even for those who are just flat out thinking it'll suck.

It looks like Star Wars with swords on one planet.

I particularly loved the parts where the Star Destroyers were spewing out Tie Fighters and when the Jedi Council was marching into the foreground at the end.

Teta Well...I watched the clip...for some reason, star wars immediately popped into my mind, and that kind of ruined the rest of clip pinch.gif Then there was the Vaan...it said he was a boy, so that shut me down even more e.e Maybe I'm not watching it right. Hopefully it'll be good regardless of what I am assuming.

Dark Paladin Wow. That looks like a really cool movie.

Kane I'm impressed (not that it comes as a surprise to like an FF cutscene) with everything about that cutscene save only the Viera's bunny ears........I just don't get it
