Microsoft to Purchase Square-Enix

Square Enix
In a startling move,  Microsoft announced early this morning that they had reached an agreement with Square-Enix stockholders concerning the purchase of the corporation.  The Square-Enix stockholders will get 0.45 of a share in Microsoft  for every Square Enix share that they own.  Originally it was believed that deal might not go through because Microsoft was originally only offering 0.30 of a share. Said Masufumi Miyamoto (the main shareholder of Square Enix), "We just thought we were getting a raw deal, Dog.  Big Billie Gates has plenty of bling.  If he really wanted our company then he would ante up. Word to your mother."

While Square Enix have yet to release a game, they have announced their first title for the Xbox. Chrono Break!

Read about Chrono Break here at RPGamer

Furthermore, every Final Fantasy after FFXII is going to be an Xbox exclusive.  The Square-Enix arm is rumored to be known within Microsoft as the Shirt or "Square Hides It's Real Motives." One can only guess what that means.  There is speculation that Square-Enix really let themselves be purchased in order to make a sequel to Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.  Or Shirt could also mean Square Enix is finally "clothing" the Xbox with some real software.

I don't even know what to say to this.   I'm quite literally shocked.  Sure, Microsoft bought my old favorite (that being Bungie), but I didn't see this one coming.  A Chrono series game on the Xbox?  Final Fanatsy an Xbox exclusive?  Even worse, a FF:TSW sequel?  Oi.  What next?  Nintendo buying Sega?  Give me your thoughts

Excalibur This is a SAD, SAD day for Final Fantsy i though it was bad enough square making an online game which was also a series 1 (they should have called ff11, ff:online, and ff12 comming soon ff11, imo). Anyway no one like's XBox, and i still have to get a PS2 for FFX(+2) and a GC for FF:CC. And i'm not gonna waste my money on an oversized piece of crap just to play my fave series. And y the **** is the next Chrono game going to it too. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo >_<

MorgueN Cloud nice try but I'm easily fooled in fant quite difficult. Chrono Break itself wasn't the best April fools joke as well. I could have sworn those were FF 11 screenshots, I did find the FF 7 fanfic conflinct of interest between Reader and writer funny though.

Rubicant They were indeed FFXI screenshots. A really lame attempt at a prank on RPGamer's part. However, their Dragon Warrior article was fantastic.

A well known french news site had a cool prank too. Chrono Break on a cell phone. You can check that one out at www.the-sugoi.com, it looked real convincing, but the prospect of it all was so fake.

RPGFan's joke had to be the best, and most convincing of all the ones I've seen this year. Hell, I even posted it on OPGE, only to have to edit the article to say it was a joke.

Elena1999 I would think that the quote that Masufumi Miyamoto supposedly made would be the thing to type you all off that it wasn't real. RPGamer wasn't the most convincing. I think EGM had the most convincing one. I really did think that there was a topless mode in DOA volleyball for a while there. It wasn't until I passed the news on to someone else that they told me that it wasn't true. I didn't even  happen to notice that it was April's issue.
therandyrhoadsComment 7: 2003-04-02 19:11
therandyrhoads dude this pisses me off so much. x box is in my opinion easily one of the worst systems ever made, and the only reason microsoft got the company is because they have money to burn. i do now believe that any final fantasy game released from this point on is nothing i want anything to do with. this sucks.

Rangers51 I didn't think this would need to be posted, but April Fool's.
