Jack Be Nimble

Jack Thompson, scourge of the first amendment and enemy of personal responsibility, might finally be facing some legal repercussions for his questionable behavior in legal matters involving violent video games.

Thompson, who has made a legal career out of blaming violent behaviour on video games such as Grand Theft Auto, has recently been involved in several lawsuits against the companies that produce these games. He is also known for his hyper-sensitivity regarding any coverage of his involvement in these matters, threatening parties that criticize him with lawsuits, threatening ethics complaints when judges don't rule in his favor, and even calling the police to file harassment charges against websites.

Finally, someone is fighting back. The Florida Bar Association, of which Thompson is a member and which he has previously sued, has filed a forty-page complaint alleging numerous violations of professional conduct and protocol. The complaint recounts many of the hilarious episodes in Jack's legal sagas, such as the time his temporary license to practice law in Alabama was suspended for misconduct, making inflammatory and unfounded statements about opposing lawyers and the judges that presided over his cases, and of threatening ethics charges because he wasn't getting his way in a civil case.

Thompson, of course, has already counter-filed with motions to force mediation and stay any disciplinary proceedings the bar association may bring against him.

Personally, I'm rooting for Jack. After all, if he gets disbarred, the comedy would come to an end!

Hamedo What a world class turd. He reminds me of one of my ex's. He is never the cause of his own misfortunes. he does no wrong. It's everyone else in the world that is against him, wronging him..... but never his fault.
QuadComment 2: 2007-02-06 20:02
Quad He's the reason my parents still won't let me get Grand Theft Auto, so screw him. I had forgotten about him recently though, and I bet he's so glad he's in the limelight again.
SinslayerComment 3: 2007-02-06 20:04
Sinslayer Yet another attention-seeker joins the ranks of Carole Weatherford in the Hall of Idiots.

Seriously, who the hell does he think he is? I'm no expert on law, but I'm satisfied if he loses his lawyer status, and has to work at McDonalds (no insult to those who work at McDonalds, BTW).

fatman I forsee this man ending up in a mental asylum soon if he doesn't give himself a heart attack first. I hope he hasn't cost the courts too much money.
Still, it was always an entertaining conversation to talk about how yet another video game was being sued due some people in the world being violent.
I wonder if in the last few minutes of his life, he might realise how he has wasted every opportunity at happiness, just to pursue a pointless goal.

Too add to what Hamedo said, it sounds like he's someone who is never wrong... about anything, and if people tell him otherwise, he will spend his whole life attempting to prove them wrong. Poor bloke.

Del S Don't worry, McDonalds has strict policies on hiring sane people.

Nice to hear what goes around comes back and kicks you in the chuckies.

Edit
Sane enough not to sue himself for burning himself with the deep fat fryer for example

Meh, he'll be forgotten about soon, methinks. After he loses the trial (and I'm pretty sure he will), he'll fade into obscurity.

BDZ I appreciate some of this guy's opinions, but his actions are ridiculous. This guy reminds me of Kent Hovind, the young-earth creationist who was put away for ten years for his stupid tax evasion schemes. He's a fellow Christian who I wish would just shut up.

Another note, and I believe it was Wade over at Penny Arcade that said it, that if Thompson ever does get, well, "fired", someone a lot better and more effective may come along and do some real damage to the world of gamers.

As much as I dislike Thompson's personal Crusade, the fact that he's an idiot kinda' makes up for it.

Kaijyuu Naw I dont care much about Thomson. But there are some people who's intelligence I'm worried about.

I'd be pretty worried about people voting for Jack Thompson, too, because, as far as I know, he hasn't run for office since the late 80s.

NeoEx-DeathComment 14: 2007-02-09 00:22
NeoEx-Death First, christian riots complain about Pokemon being "satanic", now some douchebag steps up to confront video games for being violent? I think it's stupid to debate against things like that unless if you've already played/seen it for yourselves. Even if you did, I find it hard to see how Pokemon is "satanic" and/or "unholy". Just cracks me up.

I'm really sick and tired of people blurting out bullcrap about "this is fine" and "this isn't fine". If you think video games are too violent and want them off the shelves so badly, don't make a big show of yourself in public. Just don't play them. That's it.
