Finally, Final Fantasy IV DS with English

Final Fantasy IV
In advance of the upcoming North America release, now under two months away, the official Square-Enix blog has now published the first English-voiceover video from the game. This video is meant to be an in-store promo, so you should also be able to see it quite soon at your favorite game shop.

Far be it from me to comment on the voice acting, as I'm no expert on the matter, but it sounds solid enough to me. If anything, it's just good to finally hear it in English; they could have Bobcat Goldthwait and Gilbert Godfried doing the lead roles and it would still be nice to finally see the progress towards launch.

Finally, of course, I have to ask, why haven't you pre-ordered it from AmaCoN yet?

Harlequin It looks pretty good. Trailers never seem to reflect the final product, so I'm waiting for the final verdict when it finally comes out.

It's just that...I never thought Kain's voice would be so deep, and Rosa's voice would be so annoying. However, I am satisfied with the voices of Cecil, Palom, and Porom. They all seem like decent picks, and at least and from that one scene, the dialogue delivery doesn't seem as awkward as FFX.

Ganolink I don't really mind the voices.

But the change from awesome cinematic to polygonic chibi characters during a dialogue with a deep voice made me laugh loudly.

My feelings exactly. Kain sounds like crap. It sounds like they took someone's voice and put it through a machine. No one except for Barret should talk like that tongue.gif

I always pronounced it SEE-sul, because SEH-sul is how the real-world name is pronounced and I like to keep it separate. But whatever. Still totally going to buy it.

The graphics were all very pleasing. The FMVs are stunning, I still am impressed at the DS's capabilities. The polygonal in-game stuff looks great, too, and I am pleased with the interpretation of the concepts.

Kame I watched a trailer for it on some game site and quite a few fangirlish squees escaped my lips. I'm soooo looking forward to this.
Death PenaltyComment 9: 2008-06-13 23:54
Death Penalty As far as I'm concerned, voice acting is either a "Sure, that's nice" or "I want to turn my volume off whenever there's dialogue." It's not something that's gonna make a game, but it can definately piss me off. Good voice acting is just kinda... there... not a big deal to me. bad voice acting is like someone slapping your ears for half an hour. And this voice acting falls into the good category, so I have no reason to complain.

Edit
Or ramble any longer... jeez.
