Wii are the Revolution

Wii
The official name of Nintendo's latest video game console has finally been announced. After months of speculation and some hope that they might just stick with "Revolution", the new third generation console will be...

Wii.

No, that's not a typo. It's pronounced like "we", and, to quote R51, "I wish it were on nintendo.co.jp so I could hope they wouldn't give it a stupid name for the US." It's unique, it's easy to remember, it's...spelled with two i's.

The flash is pretty good, though.

laszlow I remember for awhile there was evidence out there that they were renaming the Rev the "Nintendo GO", but it turned out to be a rumor fueled by old Revolution concept logos or something. I think it's still too early to say something like this, especially if it's not on Nintendo of Japan; we'll know for sure by E3.

Only Nintendo, I guess...just couldn't keep it relatively simple, like the XBox and PS did...Wii tongue.gif.

So you think that the English language Nintendo site believed a rumor fueled by something random? happy.gif()

MimicComment 9: 2006-04-27 19:06
Mimic And shop workers everywhere will cringe anytime anyone says they need a Wii.
To be honest, it seems like this sort of thing is, to some extent, an attempt to drum up the sort of interest they'll need in order to compete with the PS3 and 360.

I dread to think of the accessories and peripherals.
GearsComment 10: 2006-04-27 19:25
Gears They could call it the Nintendo Crapbox for all I care, I still think it's going to be a good, affordable system, and I still plan on buying one when it comes out.
ultimageComment 11: 2006-04-27 20:06
ultimage It's a silly name. Revolution sounds much better. Has more impact. Just what is Wii supposed to mean anyway?
