So Many Final Fantasy VIIs

Final Fantasy VII
Yep, you guessed it. They're making another FF7 spin-off game, this time starring Vincent. It's called Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus, and will not be produced for the cell phone market, unlike the FF7 Shinra game. It will be a playable game, unlike Advent Children, but they're not releasing if this is going to be an RPG yet. Not a whole lot of details are known, but you can check out the logo and one piece of propaganda.

---------

Well, I'm getting sick of all these spinoffs, personally. I don't find myself interested in any of them, and although I liked Vincent, I still don't want to buy this one. I'm concerned with maybe playing through the original FF7 once more, not with getting all the money to play/watch the spinoffs. Discuss!

Zephir Who do they think they are, Paramount?
SilverForkComment 2: 2004-09-16 07:46
SilverFork I agree. Talk about milking something for all it's worth...

What're they gonna turn FFVII into, the "Land Before Time" series of RPGs? Enough is a freaking 'nough!
Endless KnightComment 3: 2004-09-16 11:43
Endless Knight They should release the Picard.... er I mean Hojo Collection. Then they would be Paramount. I guess we'll have to see how things work out.
The AncientComment 4: 2004-09-16 14:41
The Ancient I can't wait for the fighting game to come out. I think the working title is Dio's battle arena.

There's a fighting game coming out? Wasn't Ergheiz bad enough, sigh...
eternalsphereComment 8: 2004-09-16 17:57
eternalsphere They're making so many spinoffs because they know they're gonna make a loads of money. Many people liked FF7 and they know that, so if they make something that continues the adventure (or what happens before) people are gonna buy since they loved the whole world of FF7. Personnaly, I do not like any of these spinoffs except for Advent Children. My opinion is to leave it as it is unless there was some major problem with it. For example, at the end many people were wondering what happened to the planet, so they made Advent Children. I think this was ok since it fixed the problem, but all these other ones aren't necessary. They were all explained in the game and there was no major problem in regards to how they fit into the storyline, so it isn't necessary. Also, they could've used the resources spent on these spinoffs to instead make their current games as good as they used to be. All these spinoffs are just a waste of time
KaneComment 9: 2004-09-17 20:15
Kane I like Vincent just as much as the next guy, but I don' know if I'd really like to see him in a title role type setting. But, whatever, maybe it'll end up being pretty good and I'll have to eat my words
Dark PaladinComment 10: 2004-09-17 22:10
Dark Paladin How pointless.
If they're going to Make spin-offs based on individual characters, I'd personally like to see certain characters other than Vincent first.

Well, if one game in the series is going to get bastardized, it may as well be VII.
SephirothComment 11: 2004-09-18 05:57
Sephiroth I don't have much of a problem with it, although I do agree with DP on it being pointless. To me, just because they rape the series doesn't mean that the original FF VII will suck. So whatever. If Square wants to be a bunch of money grubbing wh**res then I say let them be. I'm sure if you were gonna get a million dollars to rape a game then you would... I know I would.

Neal Thanks to Hanyou, I have a link to some screenshots from the upcoming game.

Del S Looks to me like an FPS or Third-Person adventure game. And if it is, it had better be better than Fire Warrior...

Locke_Cole Square Enix thinks FF7 is good for some reason

>_>
Hmm, I wonder why?

No seriously, FF7 = bad

Bad Soundtrack, the graphics were half-assed, the plot line was shiit, the gameplay was boring...

WHERE do you see the good in the game??? WHERE blink.gif

The answer: The game sucked... and Square has the wierd way of thinking it was good... cuz their FF team has their heads up their asses right now...
Endless KnightComment 15: 2004-09-18 16:02
Endless Knight You are of course entitled to your opinion but I think that you will find it to be greatly in the minority. Most people found it to be quite the opposite of what you have written.

The soundtrack is considered to be one of the best, the graphics are accepted because it was the first 3D attempt in the FF series, and the story is thought to be quite complicated in at least a few points. (Who is Cloud? What does Jenovah have to do with things, etc...)

It's nice to hear another point of view on the game. Could you perhaps elaborate on what you didn't enjoy?
