I started this drawing by just putting Relm in there with her painting mat on the floor and Relm holding the paint brush in her left (waiting to make a large stroke with her arm but she's looking down at her pallete or something) and her pallete in her right. After looking at this, I found myself wanting to put something that she would be painting. Immediately I thought of Starlet, the painting that Ownzer (or whatever his name is) had commissioned Relm to do. First, I just did the head and found that I wanted to do the whole scene. I made Starlet Rubinesque to make it look like a classical painting and along with that I added the two putti. I started looking at the cloth mat and found it bothering me, so I added a mild one-point perspective to give that focus of Starlet's face by monkeying around with that cloth mat.
