As far as we could tell, we caught most of the corruption before anyone could really notice a whole lot - so if you saw something that we haven't yet, please let us know so we can work on it. ![]()

The General Forums was giving me a "page cannot be displayed" for a few minutes, around 11:50am EST. It's fine now, and no other links I've tried have shown anything amiss.

It's fine now, and no other links I've tried have shown anything amiss. That error, as well as many others you might all have been seeing, is due to the SQL data that powers the forums being corrupted. Once one of the main tables of forum data gets screwed up, it starts randomly breaking things. The forums are going to be closed after I post this message, so that I can get a current backup. Anything after the time I make this post MIGHT be lost if we have to suddenly move to a new server, but I'll do my best to stop that from happening.

I will admit that "CoN is down" started to become a regular expectation. Many thanks to Rangers and the rest of the admins, and boo to stinky website-services.

2nd time that it's happened for me since I first came on. The 1st one was longer, for me I couldn't get on for three days!

By the way, all, we have still been receiving reports of some weird DNS related outages from time to time. You'll know if this is happening to you if you are getting errors in your browser that say something like "cavesofnarshe.com can not be found." Make note of this post, because obviously you will not be able to re-read it if this happens to you. ![]() If this happens to you, the best thing you can do is follow these steps: 1. Open a command prompt. In WinXP, this can be done by going to "Start," selecting "Run", and entering "cmd" and pressing Enter. 2. Type "nslookup www.cavesofnarshe.com" and press Enter. 3. Type "tracert www.cavesofnarshe.com" and press Enter. If you get errors in either of these, email Climhazzard and let us know immediately. We've been doing server tweaks to try to solve this problem, and we think we may finally have it now, so definitely let us know if this happens to you again.
