Quote "slow life of the future". You mean...the game won't end after two years!? Awesome! Hopefully that alludes more to the "grow old with each other" vibe one may get from Friends of Mineral Town. Never did like that sudden ending part... And as for RPG-ing up the series, uh...farming, running around, planting stuff, fixing posts, feeding livestock, harvesting livestock products, visiting NPCs in town, gaining bond with the ladies, upgrading your tools, and doing mini-sidequests with the dog and the Harvest sprites already takes up a typical day, if you schedule it right. Killing off monsters might just make the days seem even longer... ...or it may be awesome, which I'm hoping it will be. Work, work, work!

I'm assuming that's their way of saying that the aging mechanics will be similar to either Friends of Mineral Town or A Wonderful Life. I'm hoping it won't be quite as slow as the latter, but regardless, that IS pretty awesome. I especially wonder if they're planning on doing this for all upcoming and far-off-in-the-future HM's or only for a few. RPG-esque battles sound fun, but I can't help but envision your farmer beating up wild dogs and, for some reason, angry squid people with a watering can. The fact that you have the option of capturing them and - get this - keeping them as pets intrigues me muchly!

Quote (SilverFork @ 2nd November 2005 21:02) meanwhile, Rune Factory - Shin Bokujou Monogatari, slated for release on the Nintendo DS, will attempt to steer the series in a slightly different direction: In previous Harvest Moon titles, players were able to tend to crops and livestock on farmland devoid of any notable dangers, save the occasional rainstorm or hurricane. Rune Factory, however, will add monsters into the mix, allowing players to either capture them or fight them off in an RPG battle fashion. The game will be available in Japan sometime next year. I really can't say that I am fond of them mixing Harvest Moon with Pokemon. But others seemt to find this intriging so it can't be that bad an idea.
