Squenix Returns FF to Nintendo Console

General Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, scheduled for release on February 9, 2004 on the Nintendo Gamecube, will be the first FF title released in the US on a Nintendo console since the 1994 release of Final Fantasy III US (aka FFVI).

Crystal Chronicles features a large emphasis on multiplayer gaming, supporting up to four players simultaneously via Gameboy Advance consoles linked to the Gamecube.

Gamespot features a collection of screenshots of the Japanese game release.

The story sounds a little weak, the battle system has moved from turn-based to real-time, the magic system is apparently "item-based" like FFVIII, and Square wasn't even willing to give it an "official" spot in the series with a Roman numeral of its very own.

Thus, I'm a little skeptical about the game, but nevertheless would give it a shot, assuming I could find a Gamecube and GBA to borrow.

Dark Paladin Is it just me or does this seem a little like the FF version of Mario Party?

Rangers51 Hard to tell. You don't give any reasoning, just a glib comment that fails to show how witty you truly are.

Anyway, I think it's a nice use of the technology. The game looks pretty good, though I have heard complaints that it's too short. What does Square have to lose, though? If this game tanks, it's on a different system so it won't really tarnish the series. If it succeeds, then it's just something else that they can build on for the future.

Figaro Alright! Square has seen the light and is trying out Nintendo! Nintendo is awesome. If they release more FF games (like later ones from the numbered series) it will probably prompt me to but a Gamecube. Or at least put it on my Christmas wish list. tongue.gif

Merry Chriastmas Eve!

Then truly the tunnel is not just ablaze but its being Airstriked and surrounded by Heavy Artillery. thumbdown.gif either that or the light was a muzzle flare from a sniper rifle

Whilst it looks a nice game and all, the gamecube is nothign more than a Platform console to some, and a miserable falirue to others. sure, it has its fans, but its just not cool to have the threat of Link and Mario showing up as Guest Stars hanging over the games head! wacko.gif

Well, if you could kill them maybe, but i doubt it.

The tuth is down here!

This post is firmly toungue in cheek. The truth is it looks very toight, and since Gamecuebs are as cheap as chips its not unreasonable to buy them for one game. Lukcily, Thats where Resident Evil pops in...
