I'm disappointed no one from FFVI made it into the top ranks. As for FFV's Bartz, isn't FFV far more popular in Japan than here, to the point of rivaling FFIV and FFVI?

Zack won, really? TG Cid (Orlandu) 0r General Leo would be better choices in my mind... and obviously Sephiroth would be my choice if they didn't HAVE TO BE the hero just to win.

Quote (Glenn Magus Harvey @ 19th December 2012 04:29) I'm disappointed no one from FFVI made it into the top ranks. As for FFV's Bartz, isn't FFV far more popular in Japan than here, to the point of rivaling FFIV and FFVI? That's an interesting point. Sabin, Edgar, and Locke all made the top 40, but none in the top ten. Part of the cause there may just be overcrowding: there are just so many characters in FFVI, and most of them are given an equal amount of spotlight. The Japanese popularity question you raised would also explain a lot, if it is indeed correct. Another strike against FFVI in a popular vote competition could be its comparative lack of ports. There was the GBA version, but there have been several ports of, say, FFIV since then. Lack of ports, on the other hand, wouldn't hinder the much more visible PSX titles and onward to such a degree. Also, C-Bo Wroth, one needn't be a hero to apply: Sephiroth came in at #8 (Reno, Kuja, and Golbez also made the list).
