I'm not expecting anything particularly impressive from this. I think they will be very reliant on the Avengers name to sell it. But I've been proven wrong before! (yesterday)

But I've been proven wrong before! (yesterday) Yeah, this came up in chat a little last night as well. My take on it is that Square have what I consider to be their best studios right now tied to it, and we have already seen plenty of Marvel/Avengers games that are F2P or other things that might be less appealing. I'm holding out hope for Deus Ex Avengers, I'm not gonna lie.

If this ends up similar to X-Men Legends 1+2 or Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 1+2 (four games I really really like) then I'm interested. If it's a forgettable movie tie-in then... yeah "forgettable" basically says it all.

We've got confirmation now that the Square Enix game (and other Marvel games coming up) will have no tie-in to the MCU: http://io9.gizmodo.com/marvel-games-wont-b...-dec-1792745204

I think letting them off the MCU hook is a pretty good sign, since creative limitation is I think a big reason why games like this come out bland. It's also, of course, tricky because they have to balance between players ambivalent to Marvel and players who are super into Marvel.
